To many sensible points from Andy on the beamback and exact same points I've been making on twitter today and being shouted down for it. People don't seem to understand we don't have alot of staff, the licences/safety certificates needed and how much support the council would need to give us and we know they won't be going out their way to help us. The negativety towards club this week is doing my head in. Seville was never going to happen for me,hubby and kids we just can't afford it and straight away we decided on a party at home so we are all together and I'm happy with that, I don't need a beamback would rather be at home. I also know folk who went to Manchester beamback and said it was horrible experience.

Craig scullion

The Manchester beamback was horrendous. For the club not to do something is really poor tbh. If Rangers wanted to get safety certificates they could have got them. There is a Harry styles concert in a few weeks, Is Ibrox staff running that, surley an events company will come in for it! Club have basically said if you want a beamback you need to travel to Seville 😂😂 Bit poor from the club for me!

George Harrison

Good for you, but thousands of other supporters do want a beamback. Given that the other 5 finalists have organised one for their fans, I fail to see why it’s beyond Rangers to do the same !

David McBurney

If you're going to seville enjoy yourself if you can't make it stay in the hoose. Utter pish , the guy has been missing for months then hits us with that guff, total prick

Gregg McKee

Stewart Robertson is finished with a majority of fans because of the Sydney fiasco. This wasn’t mentioned on the pod

Andy McGowan

So are the entire board that have funded us then? Because they made the final decision.

James Mathieson

How do you get access to the fanzone in Seville? I assumed ticketed. Does anyone have details?

Callum Lester

Can't help myself, sorry - a baseball, Steve McQueen, and The Great Escape... 😜

William

Wishing legend Andy Goram all the best.....

R. Jenkins

The Astley news is wonderful. I hadn’t heard that. It’s like we can breathe fresh air again away from his influence.

James Mathieson

Rumour has it you need My Gers points to take my weans to school these days…. 😂

R. Jenkins

Listen to the podcast. The Club staffing has been stripped to the core. They have been honest and said that they can’t handle an event in Ibrox at the same time as a final in Seville. We should appreciate that honesty after being mislead for decades. Imagine if we organised it badly and loads of Them decided to come- they have nothing else to do, their season ended mid week. There could be a disaster and Rangers would be to blame. There would be no support from Glasgow Council so let’s call their bluff and see how much support Police Scotland and Glasgow Council offer when we come back with the cup. We’ve asked for an open top bus tour, the least we deserve, so let our Authorities deliver.

Ross Adair

Great update lads. Big Andy hitting the nail on the head yet again (movie references aside) 😅

Scott Duncan

Poor excuse from club for no beamback, they could have brought in a 3rd party to run it on their behalf. How come the other 3 finalists in the UEL and UCL have one set up?

Roslyn Hutchison

All the other Euro finalists have made provision for fans staying at home. No wonder our fans are feeling let down and left out. The present board have done great for the club but sometimes they fail to read the room.

Rory Stride

No surprise that Andy McGowan hits the nail on the head again. In reality, beam backs are terrible and some people are just using it as a grievance to support their preconceived dislike of Stewart Robertson. I would have expected the club to provide some space/event for fans to watch the game in Glasgow but a beam back at Ibrox isn't a good solution.

John Davidson

Beambacks are shit but a lot of fans would like the option rather than to have it taken out of our hands. Pretty poor comments guys, especially when all other clubs in the European finals are doing one of some kind apart from us. Planning for this should have started months ago. Shambles really and I am not one for criticising the board usually. The team got us to the final not Stewart Robertson.

Ross Whitehead

I suppose the circumstances around the reasons for not having a beam back highlights that we still haven't fully recovered from the events of 2012. You could argue that the board should be praised for getting us to a final of a European competition ahead of schedule. Having said that, Stewart Robertson is still a specky hotdog 😄

Andy McGowan

Months ago?! John I never even booked seville in advance but the board should spend precious resource planning a statistically highly unlikely eventuality? That's very unfair As for the team that got us to the final, the players in the team are only there because of the collective financing of the fans and the board investors. The club and the support got us to this final, it's a collective contribution. I'll say again, our demands as a support are not even close to being met by the funds we put in. We can have all we demand and more easy, but your season ticket will be double the price.

Ross Mcfarlane

Anyone know how to get tickets for the fanzone in that stadium?

Billy Forrester

Long shot but will trade a Scottish Cup Final ticket plus some cash for a Europa Final ticket if anyone has any spare or cannot make it for some reason

Martin Boyd

Didn’t hear him say stay in the house, must have missed it. Wish I was near a place where I could watch with other Rangers fans, like a pub for instance.

John Davidson

Sorry Andy, I respect you and you will remain one of my favourite podders but you're wide of the mark here. It is one thing for am individual to have an unexpected event or expense, it is quite different entirely for an institution, especially one that, despite the financial travails, turns over multiple £millions every year. It is perfectly reasonable to be thankful for the boards efforts in bridging the financial gap in recent years and still be critical of the lack of event planning in providing a collective experience for fans who are not fortunate enough to be able to go to Spain. I'm disappointed that you feel the need to be critical of the money that the fans put into the club as somehow justifying this. We put in thousands each year and more than almost any support. This would not have cost the Earth and could have been delivered for a profit.

GT

I agree with Andy’s comments on Robertson and the beam back, much as I’m not a Robertson fan at all. A beam back would be shit as view would be poor, no-one can drink, high chance of getting lifted etc. It does highlight a lack of staff at most depts at Ibrox, and it is a risk as fans may congregate unofficially and that could be an issue, but overall I’m not sure what the club could do much differently with short time to plan

Andy McGowan

I'm not being critical of the money the fans have put in, just stating that we as a support are slightly detached from the financial realities of our club at present. Criticism of decisions and acrions can be valid but also qualified. Anyway still time yet for a solution.

Tommy

I disagree Andy, I think they should've organised something for the fans who will be at home. Hiring an events company would've been a start. It isn't good enough. Those who are able to afford to go abroad and lucky enough to have a ticket should have a great time. But let's be honest, they're no sitting at home looking for something to do for the final. A European final and the club haven't had the foresight to have anything planned. I'm extremely disappointed to be honest.

Andy McGowan

I'm not saying it's good enough, I'm saying the logistics make it a very very big ask. There is also major stakeholder cooperation required like. Police who I doubt want resources pulled away from what will be a very busy night anyway. Ibrox wouldn't be big enough just like it wasn't in 2008, not enough time to make it a ticket event, I could go on and on. 3rd party at another venue was best solution.

Gary Shaw

Just bring the bloody trophy home and nobody will be bothering their arse about a beam back 😂

Craig Cation

Alot of families wouldve felt the Rangers pinch with mygers and tops just this week. Then with the lack of explanation from Robertson yesterday and his flippant attitude towards the question was a kick in the balls to those at home out of pocket and feeling ignored and for many not for the first time this season.

Graeme Guthrie

The club have proved time and time again that they take fans for granted. They have 0 interest in doing anything for the common everyday punter who scrimps and saves to attend matches

stefan strzelecki

I will need to respectfully disagree about the competence of Stewart Robertson. Andy you are a competent individual with the financial aspects of the club . If a loyal season book holder in the Corporate Hospitality VIP area which can’t be critiqued for myGers points accreditation. Spends £26000 for a table of four at Ibrox for the season is only provided one Europa league final ticket , then gets an invoice for £29000 for the upcoming season . Is that sound business acumen ? How is it that silver myGers punters are able to obtain Europa League Final tickets above corporate supporters. How is the club delivering excellence for customers who provide the most amount of revenue ? For these reasons alone the man doesn’t have my support . Glasgow life are in the financial red. Bellahoustoun could have been used , Led screen projection or water projection, pop up bars, food , security and police , live music and entertainment . Treating the Rangers to be cultured . Rather assuming the worst . Live events has become an increasing relevance to Scottish people since 2008. It required planning and consideration . It could have been costed and ticketed . I’m afraid on this occasion I couldn’t disagree more with the views of endorsing Robertson today.

Graham Jones

I’m less flattering than Andy is of this board. I don’t dislike them, but they do need to answer some big questions, especially on their plans for the squad next season. They haven’t been forthcoming on what they need to be doing in the summer. I thinks it’s obvious that we need to spend again in the summer, because we will be selling in the summer. Some players simply want to move on now, and they’ve had their shop window this season. I think people have question’s on the state of the contracts. Not those signed last week, but the ones of big assets in the market. I still can’t understand why we are the only club of the six finalists not to have a beam back. How did we manage it in 2008, and can’t do it this time. If it’s because of understaffing then that’s on the board. The club should be fully staffed by now, surely. I’ll give them a break on the Ashley situation, because that was a mess created by the the regime under Green.

Heart and Hand

I warned you all about Andy or ‘Fred Goodwin’ as I call him.

Andy McGowan

Staffing costs money, we don't have enough of it coming in most seasons, priorities are everywhere. The fact we are in a Europa league final supports the argument it is being prioritised correctly? Suggestions of improvement and critique are fine, so is measured and qualified analysis of some of the realities we face, and some of our support are in denial around.

Steven L

Well this tread is lovely. Disagree with Andy but I have had enough of being annoyed with it.

stefan strzelecki

50% of Club 72 season book holders didn’t get a Europa League final ticket. The club didn’t even send email communication there was a deadline ballot for Monday . There are 2200 Season book holders in the VIP hostility area. ( that’s not a typo) When Andy talks about Rangers fans need to help the club generate income to be the club we all want to be. The majority of these supporters were paying over a £1000 in the lower divisions fir a season book. The average cost is £2.3 k for a season book this year. How can it be acceptable that supporters who follow the team home, away, and all over Europe, are not considered worthy of the one of the most significant Games fir the club? Mr Bisgrove and Robertson treat supporters with contempt. It’s indefensible

James Kenny

With reference to the beam back, let me be honest I wouldn't go but I wouldn't deny the right of anyone else to. I can see why the club aren't doing it but Andy used an exams with Hibs fans not going to games then turning up at Finals,:many Rangers fans would go every week but they can't get in. They are totally disenfranchised, that's the difference.

Colin

With respect it’s likely that 90% of regular season ticket holders didn’t get one from the club so it looks like the “VIP” have been dealt a remarkably better hand than “regular” punters. Not a massive fan of categorising classes of supporters we are all the same really and buy the season tickets that are affordable to each person. By being a so called VIP you had a better chance than most. I’d blame UEFA for the appalling stadium choice not the club for this one I think.

stefan strzelecki

With respect Colin. There is already a well established policy for categorising classes of supporters . If I recall Heart and Hand provided the My Gers project the very platform to promote such a critique . When the SLO was offered the airtime to support such an idea to fans. The accruement of Bronze,Silver, and Gold is exactly that. Gold providing greater likelihood of getting to cup finals and European tickets.. So the club are being encouraged to reward the financial commitment of supporters by the distribution of tickets. I take issue with your assumption that Club 72 season book holders aren’t “ regular supporters “. The term Hospitality VIP was labelled to these supporters by the exclusive influence of James Bisgrove . To justify a 100% increase in season book price during Covid . When all other regular supporters got a freeze. These supporters can’t accumulate My Gers points , unless they give up their season book. The Corporate Hospitality Department are meant to recognise and reward the supporters using the same ethos. The more you give , the greater you receive. I don’t think we had a better chance than my gers . Silver accreditations were rewarded before supporters who spend huge sways of their earnings too in Club72. I’m sure there are thousands of Rangers supporters who can’t watch the team every week or afford a season book . Should they be entitled to get the Europa League final tickets above the “ regular supporters” who can afford a my gers membership and season book? I think it dispiriting when working class Rangers fans who give up holidays, savings, and family time , are denied the chance to be in Seville to support the in the most fanatical way. It’s not about fan against fan. We weren’t told until the very last minute . Accommodation and flights were already extortionate, then became unrealistic for many in Club72. Perhaps the club should just scrap these hospitality VIP season books. , raise everyone’s season books to offset the losses, and then we can all be fully fledged paid up my gers members. With all the all the prestige that any fan would want.

Colin

I’m my post mate I made the point of saying we are all the same. I just referred to them as regular and VIP using the terminology you used in your original post even talking about VIP hospitality. The length of time people in VIP sections were forced to wait before finding out they had a ticket is unacceptable and a poor show from the club but in terms of the percentage of them that got a ticket they did a whole lot better then other fans in other sections of the stadium. I’d have bit the clubs hands off for a 50% chance of a ticket for me and the others in the Copland rear for example.

stefan strzelecki

Point taken Colin. I have heard mixed messaging about the exact number . My brother bought me my Bar72 ticket when we were in the third division . He gives regular donations of money to the Rangers charity foundation by sponsorship from work colleagues. He spent £4k on waghorns boots such is his fanaticism for the club , he sat at the Copland rear for nine years during the nine in a row period . Put his polish name on the seat paying Murray £599 “ready for the future “ to do it. He didn’t get a Seville ticket. I did . So I gave it to him. Apologies just a bit down about not going to witness it together . We have been watching Rangers together since childhood. We used to do a paper round to get the funds to watch the team. Rangers is our life next to our family . It’s totally unaffordable to travel to Seville now . The game can’t come soon enough . WATP

Tamus

Is the Champions Wall started yet?

George Harrison

Have they really been honest though, or are they just making excuses ? If the other 5 finalists can get it done, why can’t we ? Even restrict it to those season ticket holders that aren’t able to go to Seville to address your security concerns.

Douglas Wright

I get the points anout the beamback but they could have easily hired an Events company and ran a beamback from a venue like hydro or secc (both free as no events on Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday) and that wouldn't have needed the clubs safety team as the venue had their own. Just disappointed in the clubs attitude

Craig Ferguson

I can't find the tickets for the fanzone using that link on the club website. Anyone else tried it?
