Agree with you about the fee, maybe £30 mill max for a player in Scottish league off the back of European/International performances, would be looking at sell on of 10-15% as could see someone like Bassey being flipped in a year to top 4/6 club for double the current price, £25 Million could and should fund required rebuild

Pondo Sinatra

Rhys McCabe can do one. No friend of Rangers.🇬🇧

Martin Davies

Totally agree mate, there may be a cap on what we expect as a fee but a healthy sell on could make up for it

William Hughes

Ocean Colour Scene, great track and excellent live band.

Re Bassey, this is absolutely the time to cash in. Agree re the cap for anyone out of Scotland Simple question for me, can we win the league without Bassey? Absolutely we can. He moves on. Model dictates it

Gary Brown

Player trading model, its what the board need to do to sustain the club. This time last year comments on Bassey ranged from "not fit to wear the shirt" to, at best, "he's raw". His last 2 games, MoTM performances in showpiece finals show just how far he's developed himself in a season. If bids, as rumoured, are tabled the club have no option other than accept the highest / most suitable (inc sell on clause). As others said it bankrolls the rebuild. Bassey could have a dip in form / confidence or suffer a career changing injury. Rangers may not perform well in Europe next season. 🤞neither happen but if the interest is in him now, his contract is in mid-term it is best to sell now for top dollar when we can, rather than need to when we can't. I'd be really sorry to see him go but we have to accept that is our future under the player trading model. We'll get to see players become very good but they'll be gone before we get to see them reach the 'brilliant' stage of their career.

Thank you - I for the life me couldn’t remember who that was and it was bugging me!

Steve Clark

Ideal scenario a bidding war breaks out between the clubs wanting bassey.anything north of 25 million its a no brainer for a player we signed for 200 grand.

Brian Rae

Bidding starts at 25m. I think as a country, we should stop devaluing and selling our players on the cheap as our model won't work otherwise. Thanks to our club, the SPFL are currently 9th in the UEFA coefficient table, ahead of the Belgian Juplier pro league for example, who are 13th in the table who have a transfer record of just under 25m. Austria in 8th have a transfer record of 30m. Yes, there always will be a ceiling but let's raise it a little more.

PR__92

Of course there is a ceiling rightly or wrongly when you make a bid the bid constructs of Ability of the player the club and the league they play in if a player from the English championship to PL would supersede if the same player came from Scotland. Would we pay 2 million for a player from the Scottish Championship

Gary Shaw

Anything above £20m for Bassey and it’s a no brainer….he’s been excellent but let’s not forget it’s only been the last 3 months he’s been really good….cash in whilst the iron is hot…we made the same mistake with Kent and Morelos…everyone said during Morelos’ purple patch at the end of 2019 that he would only get better and it never really worked out that way and we’ve missed the boat with him in terms of the cash we would now get….

Graham Jones

Calvin Bassey is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for him, pure and simple. I would be stringing the negotiations out a bit, because the longer they take the more likely the number will go up. I’d prefer it if they were renegotiating a new contract with him, but the truth is he’s trending around the EPL and someone will pay what we want for him. I’ll go as far to say he’ll break the Scottish transfer record by a few million, but with a clause for him being sold on. If one of the top six are interested then the number will be even higher. I genuinely think he’s ready to go to that level right now. Sad to see him go, but the boy is destined to go to the top.

Craig

The striker we are interested in who plays in Russia. How would any team currently be able to buy players from Russia. Do sanctions not come into play?

chris smith

25m is massively underselling. We should be asking 35m in an auction situation. Bassey will be a 100m player eventually, for sure we are not going to get that but the boy is exceptional and we have to stop thinking about settling within historic parameters.

D Mac

This every day of the week. Why put a ceiling on the price. We don't do that in any other bidding war

Gary Shaw

Wouldn’t be against that at all,Derek….I have a feeling we’ll keep him for a wee while longer if I’m being honest 👍
