James and Ross are back with another B team update after it was confirmed that Rangers, along with Celtic and Hearts, will have a reserve team in the Lowland League for 2022/23.

They go over the agreements in place, how this can benefit the game in Scotland long term and how this will affect our players going forward.

Great news our lads have a decent pathway. Which may lead onto being promoted into the football league proper 👍

Loved Neil Doncaster’s verbatim input James!

There is another option a feeder club to the the big teams eg an Aberdeenshire club to Aberdeen Inverness clachnacuddin to Inverness Caley thistle. Ross county Brora rangers

John Buchan

As long as it is not Peterhead for Aberdeen 😱😱

David Innes

Really interesting pod - thanks

Do we think this move will possibly tempt us to send McCann out on loan, possibly to another Premiership club? Think he would get more game time on loan than he would in the first team.. and there’s no point in sending him back to the B Team!

What you risk losing out on with that idea is the day to day learning he can get from training with Steven Davis. That, for me, is a massive plus point, and I'd sooner see him do that initially over a year on loan somewhere where you risk losing all the habits he will have built up last season

Aye I suppose that’s fair enough, I like the idea of the master/apprentice combination that they appear to have built up! I’m just keen to see him play as much football as possible, as I think he has what it takes. I guess it’s down to what the coaching team value most, regular first team starts or keeping our talent around the building to learn from the best..

Why is it always St Mirren fans that seem to be most vocal on this topic? Are they so insecure that they are threatened by B teams?

Ross Whitehead

Do you think Hearts only applied for the LL due to the guaranteed money they are getting for being guaranteed european group stage football next season?
