Rangers real tests as a Division 3 club could only come in cup competitions. The Scottish Cup offered a severe exam and we failed it badly as Rangers came apart in Dundee. We continued on in the league but fans were not fooled by the easy wins.

Join the Davids, Stuart and Rob as they continue to track Ally's managerial career at Ibrox.

Stirling Albion game. My birthday as well, so I got tickets in the main stand. Nephew was playing for Stirlings u-13’s so his team was there as well. Their wee squeaky voices taunting me with “Binos, Binos…” when Stirling score! That sums up the whole season for me! Freezing cold, terrible football and deservedly getting pelters!

Dreadful month.. I remember earlier in the season wondering why Kyle Hutton (Scouted by Tottenham) wasn't getting involved. This month, and in particular, the DU game, proved why. A genuine empty jersey.....

Thank you David Edgar for putting into words so well why Ally’s management was such a difficult watch. It must have been difficult to talk about him in that way being such a hero to us growing up. My hero as a Rangers player but he broke me with his management. Cheers

Have just gone from listening to Dominant to this. What a contrast!!

My memory is also Charles Green not going to the directors box at Tannadice but sitting in the stand.

Sums up exactly how I think & feel too Johnnie. But not broke exactly, just so gutting disappointed but like David's mum I was in the "the boy's doing his best..." camp.

Thanks for the time & effort put into this pod guys. Tough stuff. Hopefully this is cathartic for you guys and all us listeners - this is the first real time there has been 'venting' with passion about the team and Ally. It IS wholly understandable and at this point, on reflection, we simply couldn't vent anger at them back then. We were sitting less than a year after nearly losing the lot. Like was said 'just gotta get through this' was in everyone's head I'm sure. We were getting the 'You're not Rangers anymore" and you know, they were right - from a footballing ethos and desire to win. We all have days when the work we have to do is uninspiring, tedious & the outcome pretty worthless, a foregone conclusion. I can only compare this Rangers season to that. We were going to win, playing 'whoever', it was inevitable. As for Ally it's kind of like when you're a wee boy and dad is your hero. You grow up and a certain point you realise he's just a man, can make mistakes, has flaws. Something in you just changes. I feel very conflicted about what has been said in this episode about Ally's handling of things / management. Guys I totally agree with what you're saying, not once did I think 'ooh bit harsh'. But at the same time I think about the fact Ally had absolutely no point of reference of how to act / manage Rangers in that situation. WTF was he supposed to do? (I do agree with David's Pep analogy but Pep hadn't done that in 2012) If he'd said 'Gonna batter everyone 5-0 every game' he would have been absolutely slaughtered by the media, even by our own fans - its ok to think it, but not The Rangers Way to say it. There were still shenanigans going on off the park and when the team can pretty much just turn up & do the job themselves and there are other battles to fight - was he allowed to fully focus on the football? It was something to be endured and Mr Struth's 'we shall have our years of failure...tolerance & sanity...we shall emerge stronger' quote was pretty much a mantra to live by.
