Great show, there is a case for Ian Ferguson in the greatest 11. I'd love to see the HoF back but I've long thought it should be extended. There are a lot to non-players who made tremendous contributions to the club David Holmes, Walter Smith and Jimmy Bell just to get us started.

David Wylie

In terms of the 5 different criteria, the way I understand it these different categories would be used overall (scored like a matrix) to determine the players overall worthiness to be a hall of fame member. Certain criteria will not get you in alone but also some go hand in hand. Never gonna be easy to keep everyone happy and agree.

Allan Waltham

Good show but, Grant, your audio is really low compared with the guests. Even at full volume it's difficult to hear.

Grant Sneddon

Thank you for feeding that back Alan, I noticed it myself when listening back and will fix it for next episode

Paul Kerr

I definitely think we should have something similar for personal contribution. Terms like roll of honour and custodians have been used in the past. I'm not quite sure of those but we should have a non playing honour of some sort. Criteria would be interesting. On one hand you are looking at individuals who have upheld the traditions that make our club special, yet on the other you are recognising those with the vision to make sweeping changes. Others have been absolutely pivotal to success on the pitch or made great sacrifices to little or no fanfare.

Great debate, guys. DJ should have been in that greatest Gers team ahead of Hateley. For future research, check out my Hall of Fame book to see if it helps your quest.

Grant Sneddon

I will definitely use that Bob if okay? Feel like I've scratched the surface with own research so any additional material would be fantastic

Bob MacCallum

Feel free, Grant, to use whatever you can. I've never read the Herron version as it came out at the same time as mine. For the full story re that situation, you might listen to part 2 of the Reading Rangers show I did with David Best. Best of luck with the series. Will be listening with great interest.

Good show gentlemen, very interesting thoughts to consider When is Cammy coming on to agitate for Lafferty's induction? 😃

Grant Sneddon

Only a personal opinion at the moment Stuart, I imagine that if/when Hall of Fame is reintroduced thr club will visit the selection process and who is involved

Was two good shows Grant, on the H&H network. Reading Rangers tag should get it. Purchased Bob's book on the basis of the show, next in my 'read this'pile 😊

Enjoyed that show. Thanks guys. The 'best' is always an emotive subject - and the criteria by which that is judged by. How can we compare incomparable era's with different equipment, pitch standards, 'permissable' tackles, etc. I do think there has to be scope for the likes of Walter Smith & Jimmy Bell, etc to be included, even if a 'staff' section has to be added. We are lucky to have the problem of debating the very very best of the very best!!😉😀

Bob MacCallum

Gary, ta for buying my book. Take it you mean the Hall of Fame one? That's my least fav one. Try the other 4 too. Grant, search Heart and Hand site for Reading Rangers and scroll down unti you find my 2 shows. Couple of months ago now. Ta for your interest.

Gary Brown

You're welcome Bob, I got 2 (or 3!). One is no longer available and if you remember on the Reading Rangers episode I suggested you re-release it as an audiobook, read by your good self!

Bob MacCallum

Scott, don't know about " most prolific" but have had 5 Gers books published in last 20 years. Hope you've read a few.
