Declan Cairns

Shambles from the board. Stood still for two years, charging fans the highest prices, giving the manager no funds to freshen what is obviously a squad past it’s peak. Definitely doesn’t help when the keeper makes an arse of every goal and there’s only one player at the back putting some kind of effort in when he isn’t even a natural CB. An absolute failure top to bottom.

Rona Bluebell

I’ve gone to my bed. Only sleep can help now.

Nico

Absolute shambles. Fans physically cannot hand the club any more money than they already have done and that’s the best they can come up with

Andrew Hillis

A scandalous performance! Not one of our 7 new signings ended the game! That is the root cause!

Allan

We were not just beaten today. We were blown away, not by the quality of goals but by their intensity, approach and desire.

Douglas Innes

Needed a new keeper 12 months ago the fact we won't sign 1 for another 12 months is quite scary

Moon Man

The lack of intensity is a massive concern and why questions will always be asked about some of the “leadership team” character. We seemed shocked that they play fast? How many times did they switch off when the ball was dead? Kent was a joke!

Alistair Young

Same as last season but instead of Diallo it was Tillman. Bad day at the office in pretty much every department. But for Tav, Barasic and Lundstrum we were awful.

KMS

they have the measure of us and have had for a while, they are in that teams heads, no excuse for that, the switching off, the mistakes, awful. That's banter years embarrassing. Five points behind, a gulf in goal difference, its the 3rd of September ffs. We deserve the ridicule for that performance, hopeless, spineless and unacceptable, but horribly inevitable. We are kidding ourselves on if we think we are up to the job domestically, and it's been that way for a while.

Lee

Total lack of professionalism from the team today, back to the lack of street smarts. Sunday league stuff at resets

ian cassidy

What made it worse was the slow sluggish play ... playing 10 passed along the back line to lose the ball and repeat the same and gift them a goal

Gordon Millar

The manner of the performance was totally unacceptable, 2nd best in all departments for a full 90 mins is the type of performance that will not be tolerated.....I backed the manager in February as it wasn't his team, he needed more time to impose his playing style etc. , but its impossible after a 2nd gutless performance, where the old failings were again badly exposed.

Andy sawers

After the first goal that quick throw ins can catch teams out why the fuck did no one from captain to manger not realise that's how they where going to be with everything, their ball boys had quicker reactions than everyone wearing a rangers badge today

Pedro

Martyn spot on as ever.

Ally Mair

Shambles , 2nd best to everything is a joke , we were outfought and looked disinterested after 2nd goal went it , massive mistake from management team to play Tillman out right and massive mistake from board to think we have a team that doesn’t need strengthened, we have sat on our arse for 2 years and let that shower from across the city to move way in front of us , so pissed off

David

We will only get worse under Gio and Wilson. Depressing times

William

I have banged on all week for a reliable centre half...we have three shysters on the sick bench and playing a midfielder out of position at centre half. but this was TOTAL CAPITULATION!!!!! Playing out from the back, causes so much trouble and when given a chance to break quickly, we stop and pass the ball backwards.

David Ferguson

Result and performance are a reflection of the poor windows in January and last summer. The squad can’t continue to carry the number of unavailable players we have. Limping into an OF game in September is awful

William Black

Only perspective to be found is we finished the game with the same midfield we had 4 years ago. We are being robbed blind by the club.

Pedro

Also pretty much the worst goalie performance against them ive ever seen.

Martin Davies

A collective shambles from 1-11. They have guys who want to shoot and score goals. We have guys who want to pass for the perfect goal and beat same guy 4 times. As for the keeper? Not deemed good enough last year despite McGregor's performances, so what has changed? A journeyman doing journeyman things.

Graham Ellis

Absolute shambles today. We never looked interested from the start. Far too many players off it. For the first time in my life I turned off a game at half time and went a walk as it was blatantly obvious there was going to be no improvement in the second half.

Graeme Smith

Wild McLaughlin gets the blame for that second. Kent allows the quick free kick. His fault FFS

Alexander Laird

I never want to see another one of those cowards in a Rangers strip again. Never .

Gary Shaw

2 skelpings from 5 OF games is not a good look for any Rangers manager…was on here after the PSV game and expressed my concerns about Colak, even though his goal scoring record is good so far,his actual football ability leaves a lot to be desired…I know he wasn’t the main culprit but when your focal point is hopeless in terms of football ability and making himself available then you’re on a hiding to nothing….I think Adam said it on a pod the other day and I agree 100%,the bulk of our players are so 1 dimensional, almost robot like…then you look at that mob and they have players from middle to front moving everywhere, taking risks and in Jota a genuinely cracking player…we’ve not got one player who would have received that ball and finished it in the fashion he did

ali t

I know new players need to settle in but its plenty of established players who were off it. #1st gear effort

Brian Rae

In the last year, they have spent over 45m and we have spent under 12m. They are buying several 6m pound rated players, we are not. We haven't upgraded any part of our squad since Gerrard came in, they have hardly any players left from 20/21. The rot is coming from the top all the way down. Investment, recruitment and coaching isn't good enough for where we should be and a lot of players that are still playing in that first 11, shouldn't be.

Gary Shaw

5 points behind and it’s only 3 days into September and he also blew a 6 point lead from Christmas last season….I’m not buying into this narrative about the board and money made available..That squad of players should be good enough to go there and at least make a fist of it…I get going there can be hard and the game can get away from you but to have 2 pumpings like that in 5 OF games is unacceptable

Rod

People can criticis the board all they want but its on that group of players for putting in that performance.

Callum Dinnen

On the Tilman non chance - a Celtic player gets on the end of that cross.

Heart and Hand

I don’t think we need to choose who gets the blame. Players, manager, board - all deserve criticism.

ali t

Team go in a huff...perfect description

Gary Shaw

Spot on! We slag Aberdeen for shitting the bed against them with a fraction of our budget…we have a bench and a starting 11 littered with internationals and the closest we come to scoring is their captain nearly scoring an og with 2 minutes to go

David Innes

Take the Rangers shirts off that team today and that looks like a routine win for them against a bottom half SPL team. They will win the league by 10+ points this season

fraser waugh

Players looked beaten before the kick off, team lacks a physical presence, signings have been poor

CJT

Sometimes you just have to admit you're wrong and reevaluate. Spent all week telling people they were panty wetters and that mob hasn't played anyone but we're battle hardened by Europe. Looking now Europa run has blinded me to the obvious- they've been building and we're slipping back. Front loaded investment to stop 10 has turned into treading water. Today will be final straw for those hoping but concerned folk I've been calling out and an eye-opener for the likes of me. Very little good will left. These guys need to step up as they're all we have. If they don't things could be very difficult. This was much worse that the last debacle at that midden as for me they won at half pace- which was still double ours.

Spoon

We are far too sentimental over bang average players. Our squad is bloated with the consistently injured, under performing and people who have heart or talent but not both. A clean out is needed.

Dougie

60 mins loyal! Lasted 50 mins more than that shower managed today!!

SC81

However good we have done in Europe...we all knew that these players, under this manager, had this in them at the piggery. They will continue to blow away the cannon fodder whilst we fail to lay a glove on them. Teams in Europe let us fanny about and get set up at throw ins and corners. These cunts are hardly reinventing the wheel or springing surprises.

PR__92

Thanks for the 58min salute 😂

Steve Snedden

The team is a reflection of the manager. And for all our tactics and technical instructions we don't hate them enough. Gio might well be more flexible than Gerrard but Gerrard figured it out.

Dougie Jones

Clearly we were poor today and maybe I’m clutching at straws but on a different day we could’ve been at least level. Barisic put over several perfect crosses that just didn’t quite fall for us. And they got lucky with chances that - fair play - they took advantage of. But they made their own luck and we were far too passive.

Tom Smith

Thanks guys. This is a bit like a therapy session. So yes, I listened all the way to the end lol.. absolute shocker today, rangers wanted to play at their own tempo, and expected them to follow suit. Wonder when the Mcgreggor conversation will start again.

Will McAulay

Glad I listened to the whole thing....OF COURSE IT FUCKING HAS!!!

James

Sadly David is probably right regarding the title - best hope is they suffer playing twice a week like we have been doing, and our injured players coming back give us a lift. We really need to change the way we play against them though.

Neil Wilson

We were poor today. First goal was a foul on Kent and potentially an offside prior to that. We didn't see a replay of it. Second goal, the players aren't alert to the quick set-piece, which was a theme throughout. Third goal, no one dominating our box to defend properly. Fourth goal was a brain fart from the goalkeeper trying to force a pass when the window wasn't available to him. In these games, you have to be fully committed. If not, you'll crumble. For us to win the league, we need to play at a very high level throughout. With their intimidation of refs, they don't have that issue. No doubt over the next few days, we'll have some hot takes. Some valid and some insane. The told you so brigade will be looking for those meaningless kudos points as well. Just put that down to frustration and some dumb people being dumb. The players better pick themselves up quickly as we've got some big games coming up over the coming weeks.

Euan Dover

That was such a horror show to watch. I don’t think many can watch that and think the title is still a possibility, I can only see this regressing. They are everything we are not. I’d pay an extra 200 quid on my season ticket if it would get me an intense and incisive Rangers team to watch- we are just boring and unimaginative each and every week. Very very bad week for the club. Sigh.

Scott Watson

Commendable effort in the circumstances folks Don't think I've heard Martyn swear as much in all the other pods I've heard him in combined as this one 😄

Mr J K Murray

who wants to be saying this but its bad management, again. What are they doing, being competitive in the league or eruo football? prefer the league becuase we do not have the players at the moment to be CL,but these players are producing dissociative behaviors for us as supporters, the olology that we are up against it in the league should be dismissed, der odoium humani generis have their day today but their season path is just beginning as we have played more games already & they will falter big time, its football.

Alan

Gerrard treated them with contempt and now contrast Gio who is a meek and timid little mouse. Disgraceful. And that's me putting it lightly.

Callum Dinnen

They don't fall for us because we never have players in the box to take advantage of them. How often do you see Kent turn up at the back post the way Abada did twice today?

Stephen Fraser

Cheers lads. In a way, a good bit of therapy. Have a miserable weekend 💙

Stewart Wightman

Spot on comments from the guys. Shocking performance. Of more concern is the lack of fight n desire in the team. The stark contrast in our fitness levels this season to last is very alarming

chris smith

This feels structural, not simply accidental or form based.

SC81

By the way....the free kick for offside was taken in our half.

Steve Clark

Well done guys, you were saying what most of us are thinking about today.i did stay to the end of the pod as well

Stuart Sheils

Well done for keeping the heads gents. Glad the money saved stopped us from a skudding🤦🏼‍♂️

Ally Mair

Have to agree with comment from patron Alan who said gerrard treated them with contempt we are now acting like their little bitches , show some balls rangers and stand up to this

Stuart Lamont

Never noticed it until David mentioned it on this cast that not one of our new signings was on the pitch at the end of the game, a sad state of affairs indeed, I’m absolutely scunnered hearing every week that this player is injured or that player is injured, we just seem to have a team that is plagued with injury issues, I also believe Gio wanted to strengthen after CL qualification going by his comments after the PSV game, his tune changed at later press conferences, obviously the board had other ideas with all the money they have reamed off the fans this month along with the CL money, not sure what the answer is going forward but the gap (gulf) between us and them is noticeably getting wider and now the window is closed there’s nothing in that department we can do about it, the current squad will need to step up big time to ensure the points difference doesn’t get any wider, can’t see them dropping points at all.

Alan Byers

Thanks lads for putting some logic amongst the dogshit. Night, night. WATP🇬🇧

Simon Botterill

It's the the lack of game management, falling for the same trick and utter naivety that kills us fans. It's not ability. I go from anger in the first half to this is what I expected if you pick that team and approach game with such a lack of intensity, craft and trying to manage a game by being passive. Would someone stand on fouls, manage the referee, manage the opposition, manage your own players, manage throwins. We just turn up and think you will get something, really thick football.

David Harrison

Title is gone. They’re gonna steam past everyone this season, and they have a very young team. That means, in my opinion, they’re gonna stroll it every season. We’re gonna need a rebuilding job next summer again. They’re not. Not looking forward to the rest of the season.

Harry Padda

Still don’t understand playing Tillman on the right. I’m not Scott wrights big fan but at least he can track back and help Tav defensively. Also adds pace to attack up front. Tillman should have played off Colak to get the knock downs instead of kamara.

Dougie Grant

1 word.UNACCEPTABLE.Utter dross.

Andrew Hind

So disappointing poor in all areas, pissed off watching them run all over top of us again

Gregg

If young McCann doesn’t get a chance in that midfield now - not necessarily on Tuesday - he never will

Gary Shaw

They started the game with the same group of players that were last season and finished the game with 2 new guys, one of which was a forced sub and the other an over the hill 34yo Aussie…they beat us coz they’re smarter, more intense and sharper than us not because we didn’t have any new players finishing the game…fans were wanting Tillman bought after a good performance against Ross County and Killie and the overreaction to Colak borders on hysterical as his all round play is non existent….it wouldn’t have mattered if we had made another 5 signings on deadline day if that’s the intensity we’re playing at

Scott Tolmie

Nobody saw that coming, sorry but that is nonsense

GazMac

Tillmans performance was no where near the level of embarrassment of Diallos at the piggery. No where near it....

Craig Dolier

Thanks gents, a tough listen after a dismal display. A wise old business coach used to tell me, "A problem shared is a problem halved". WATP

Alexander Laird

Great show guys. Telling it like it is 💙

QB_72

Pure Deja vu, players standing with arms in the air asking for help from a ref instead of playing the game and staying switched on. Total lack of intensity and grit. We needed an all in balls out performance today and got limp dick whinging. Grow a pair in these games against this lot Rangers plz. ☹️

Steven Harvey

Glad I listened to this. Superb reflection of the current mood and state of play. Great points regarding a team equipped for both domestic and Euro success. Interesting few weeks ahead!

Ricky Burns

Does not matter the players ability or who is playing or has a better squad "battle fever" cannot be bought it's all about attitude in these games. These rangers player need to find it or get out.

Alexander Laird

No player today will be allowed to ever wear our shirt again.

Harry Padda

Even outside of that. We were second to every ball. Too slow when we lost possession and they moved around to create space for quick passes.

Alan Cowan

After watching the game at home the missus called asking if I could drive to town to give her a lift home and for the first time I removed my Rangers top before leaving home due to the embarrassment of that shit show. Unbelievable dross that must cost the management team their jobs

Fergie

Wish I could share your confidence that we will perform in the European games coming up. I'm struggling to see where the points are coming from.

Stan Templeton

David, could you ask why team was apparently set up for damage limitation rather than -as per v PSV - set up for counter attacking football, and looking to capitalise on our apparent better player on player values. Prior to this game!

DRKMN

Gio doesn't get this team fired up for these games. It's our local derby against our biggest rivals. They should be going out there fired up to beat them. Running through brick walls etc....Gerrard always got them prepped for these games. Fucking Colak was hugging Juranovic in the tunnel pre kick-off!!! I knew we were fucked when I seen that.

ivor swan

-Tav never a true gers captain -Kent needs competition always knows he's in the team -kamara should have been up for sale -hellander, souttar and Davies unfit...why so many injury prone CBs it's a key area - goldson no kicked his arse for a while -far to many high earning injury prone players hellander, roofe -sakala just isn't it - mclauchlan has just ended his gers career and shagger is a great shot stopped but not a 'modern gk' - not enough players get 'IT' -not enough physicality in the team loosing bassey, aribo and not having a proper cb

Jim Milne

FFS Gio was part of the team who lost 5-1 and 6-2 at Parkhead. Today was like Advocaat vs. O'Neill. A team full of tactical passers with a rod Wallace style player up front alone being bullied by huge centrebacks who challenge. We sold our biggest physical player and bought a wee guy from Turkey who had no preseason by the looks of it. Huge questions will be asked of Gio if we lose the next OF game. There isn't one comment in here I disagree with. Abject failure of a game. League is far from over. We all laughed in July 2021 when Ange was on video shouting "we never stop". They don't! Every time we have the ball we can't find anyone to pass too. They stand still, yet everytime they have the ball they have about 4+ players available to pass too. I honestly don't know what our style of play is......possession and protect the zero? Every game, and every 2nd game in Europe is like this and we sneak a goal. Bring McCrorie in. He played in an OF game and was better than McLaughlin.

Scotia Scoot

Thanks for the pod chaps. Not easy to do it or listen in when hurting but at least a tiny bit cathartic. Hopefully this is a kick up the arse they all need as a club

Alastair McGeoch

Lot unpacked in the pod, for me a couple of things were confirmed today. 1) this squad was built to stop ten in a row and needed broken up when that was achieved which we did not do 2) Gio is not suited to managing in Scotland. This result and the hibs result confirms that he is not learning or adapting. We will not win the league because over the course of the season we are too cautious and give teams too much respect. We will drop a lot of points away from home.

Paul Kerr

Thanks guys. McLaughlin should be out of the team after that and I say that as someone who was advocating that he come in. Goldson and Tav haven't been at the races so far this season. 4 of these signings where we 'got it done early' have barely amassed 90mins between them. The squad just hasn't had the shot in the arm it needed. While today's result is down to the players and managment, a decent set of accounts doesn't excuse a series of poor and out of touch decisions by the board.

stephen

Is it just me or do Goldson and Tav seem to fall out a lot. Tav was not good today by any means but Goldson has some serious flaws in his game that he seems incapable of addressing. Our options in the middle of the park don't seem to compliment each other as well which leaves the middle of the park an area we don't seem competitive in. Colak upfront could well have been Haaland and it wouldn't have mattered. Every player involved today and the entire management team need to have a long hard think about how they can sort this mess out and improve very quickly. Today was unacceptable.

Neil Johnston

Horrible result and not good enough from our point of view. I must say over the last few years I dread the reaction from our own fans when bad results come in, over anything that gets flung at us from them or other fans. You expect it from them, whatever they say has very little impact on me. However, the way some of our fans can speak with such vitriol and hatred towards their own club, players, staff and indeed other Rangers fans is beyond me and really does get me down. We need to stick together and work on getting better. Im fighting only serves the rest of Scotland.

Rod

It took celtic 2 passes to get up the park, it took us 22 passes just to get over the half way line.

Steven Carmichael

Switched off at 2-0, saw this movie in Feb. To compete against Angeball, watch upcomimg CL games. Own the ball and penetrate quickly FORWARD. Kill them, before they kill you. We have enough good players, but the attitude to SPFL games in the main, is complacent.

James Maclachlan

To be honest I saw this coming with our defence. Why can,t management see it

William Cunningham

I hope I am wrong but I don't see Gio winning the league. He seems to excel in European Competition but his domestic form is poor. That is 11-4 in old firm games. 18 points less than celtic in his time at the club. He doesn't seem to get that winning in Scotland is a must! We can't except 1 league in three or four years.

PR__92

I float in and out of Twitter turned it on there and seen people want Tillman and sands binned because they were at dinner with their USA manager and CCV "They Don't Get It" for one it would have been to do with the national team and and the end of the day football is a job it seems some fans don't get it 😂

James McKenzie

I'm not for panicking yet. Celtic are a good side, yes Rangers made them look better than they are, but they have good quality in several positions and someone who appears to be a good manager at this level. To overcome them will take a good effort, regardless of the shape of things at Rangers. This result, and particularly the fleecing of the fans for the UCL tickets, have combined to form a cloud. In terms of the transfer inactivity (at the end of the window), I do think this had little to no correlation with this particular result. The online consensus pre the Hibs semi-final last year (when Gerrard left) was that the result would be a formality if only the board sorted the manager situation out before the match itself... I hope McLaughlin can still go on to make a good contribution to the club after this. That was a shocker.

Craig

Not ashamed to say I switched it off as soon as the ball hit the net for the third one. Like rewatching a film you don't like and expecting it to end differently this time.

Brian Rae

Since winning the league, the 3 windows we've had since, we've spent around 13m on players, just over 4.3m per window. That's a fucking joke tbh.

Pedro

Thanks for this pod guys! Measured and needed. Just want to say that goalie performance seems to me to be a career ender. Worst ive ever seen against them.

Bruce Melrose

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Colak but I knew when I watched him giving his mate a cuddle in the tunnel before kick off,he just wasn't getting it and if he isnae getting it,why the fuck not??? Surely,as the goalie used to say " hate them, everything about them" ..... I still think this mob absolutely thrives playing us , fuck knows why but we're nowhere near matching them .... Maybe I'm an old cunt but just don't see anyone in this team capable of being an old firm battle hardened cunt that will drive the team with every fibre of their body, a Gough, Bomber, Ferguson etc

Scott Moore

A lot of blame placed at GK but a hell Of a lot wrong today before it got anywhere near GK. If we think that’s the main reason we lost today we are kidding ourselves. .

David Innes

We won’t win the league under Gio. He has enough credit in the bank from the European results to be given the season but I think we’ll be looking for another new manager next summer if not sooner. Also hope I’m wrong

Rona Bluebell

I think we’re beyond criticism now. Something needs to change or it’s a slow decline domestically as a young team over the other way get stronger. Thank god for 55 or this would be unbearable to contemplate right now.

Fraser Black

I remember you guys doing pods at the tail end of last season & you all pretty much were in agreement that whatever happened, this team was coming to the end of its cycle. Yet what do we do instead . . . Give everyone new contracts & keep the same team pretty much. The result being we are 5 years on from SG with his “core group” still being dragged out. We looked old & slow today all over the pitch. But I agree with you guys, can see us getting a result on Wednesday 🤷🏻‍♂️

David Bold

This season will already be considered as successful in the eyes of the Board. What happens between now and May is irrelevant. Business is booming- the job is done.

Lynn Houston

A mile off, WHY?? Reasonably intelligent calm person normally .. 😳domestically we need to push.. the league is everything.. duff, crap…. Simply nowhere near the best but give us your 💰 money, treat us like rubbish shut up and behave yourselves !! Eff off now .. Unacceptable @RFC now and forever ok !!!!!

AGS

The Morelos and Tav experiment should’ve finished at 55

7Tre3les

Whats worrying is the amount of time its taken Gio and the players to sort the defence out since Union St Gilose being 2-0 down with tav scambling the ball off the line till now. Its taking us around 4-5 games to go from our bad/average performance games to our A game and by that time points are dropped. We all know vital points will be dropped from the officials decisions so we need to be near perfect.

CGG

Pure and simple, unacceptable

Rod Murray

Ineffective, insipid, inexcusable.

Ross Marshall

This will be the most depressing thing until the ajax preview show. I can’t wait to hear Steven harrigan spitting feathers.

Doug Young

Saying it for a while. Blinded over players who think they are far better than they are. I really don't understand the Kent love or the Goldson joy at his new contract. Both flatter to deceive in spades.

Doug Young

Goldson and Kent know they are guaranteed starters, so no pressure. Borna has pressure on his position and was arguably put beat player today.

Doug Young

Nothing is ever Goldson's fault, despite him being an utter bomb scare.

Doug Young

Just pathetic. And we all knew the script after half an hour. No hunger, no passion, no heart. Technically competent players do not an SPL champion team make. Said it many times, will repeat it here- we win nothing without a solid defensive base and we are far far far from that.

Lee

My wife isn't particularly into football but even she spotted & commented on how slow we were with the ball compared to Celtic. The a ridiculous Sunday league level resets on set pieces was inexcusable today. There also has to come a point where Kent isn't a 100% cert to start every game. The guy hasn't kicked a ball all season

Sandy

Thanks for sharing my pain

Craig Stevens

Thankfully didn't see the game as I chucked domestic football after we were cheated out of two points by a rabid fuckin goblin at Easter Road but this result, for me, feels not far from a bereavement and I'm not joking. The word 'learn' should also be omitted from Football since, clearly, it never happens.... 100% sick to death of the usual phrases like - '' This is unacceptable...'' '' This is not good enough '' If you decorate a room in your home and it's '' unacceptable '' or '' not good enough '' what do you do about it ? ...

Douglas Innes

Last game we played 3 defensive midfielders was USG away and that was probably our last abject performance on such a scale , it could be that those players dont like playing as a midfield 3 as no one actually knows their role

Tommy

They’ve got better players and a better manager, I think too many of us were in denial about both in advance (and many stay in denial). Unfortunately the only quick fix I can see is a club from down south making Ange a big offer. Questions need to be answered from board and DOF about investment and transfer strategy, we’re old and lethargic. Where’s our Kyogo and Jota? Why is there seemingly a resistance about buying creative players at this level when it’s been our creativity upfront that’s been challenged in recent seasons? The issues in the squad are of our own making

Tommy

All about opinions pal. But I’ve felt out of step this last week, the game played out as I expected. The next two games are tough, three straight defeats will be hard to pick ourselves up from. And it’s very possible.

Tommy

Hope you have a good weekend… maybe not Colin 😁

LAURENCE MACRAE

Gio said that it had been discussed beforehand , even if it hadn’t been the players on the pitch should have had the savvy to go they are constantly taking quick free kicks , throw ins , look lively and we might have only been one down at half time . Instead we continually made the same mistakes throughout. Absolutely no requirement for 3 defensive midfielders in any game let alone a trip to Parkhead, you just invite constant pressure , the weakest part of Celtic’s team is their defence , yet we were setup to not go near it , I know it’s different to the all out attack of feb line up but there’s a happy medium and balance to be found and you can’t tell me that a trip to the piggery is more difficult than PSV away but the current team would prove otherwise , can accept a defeat but not when we don’t give 100% and hide.

Graeme Duncan

Thanks for the show guys. I’m just sad about us again. G

John Hammond

Horrific performance from Rangers but in a cathartic way I enjoyed the pod guys.

Stephen Grant

I thought David hit the nail on the head , the lack of awareness of how Celtic play aligned with one of the poorest goal keeping performances in a while , made it all too easy for a team that look much better than us

Dingus

Rule changed years ago. Free kick is taken from wherever offside player gets possession of the ball

Paul fitzpatrick

Lots of constructive, well made points guys, even in the wake of that shit-show. Couple of points I'd make... one is that what Celtic did to us yesterday is what we did to Braga and Leipzig i.e. quick throw ins, relentlessly going forward at pace, etc, so we can obviously play like that when we want to and we should obviously have been aware that it's Celtic's core game plan at home. Other point is recruitment - as things stand their back up #9 is better than our first choice #9 and they have a 20 year old winger who can't do half the things Kent can on the ball but does the most important thing, scores goals. It's not even worth comparing Jota to Matondo or Wright! We seem to go for frees and bargains hoping we'll strike it lucky. Looking across the city, they recruited 8 starters - Abada, Jota, Hart, Juranovic, Hatate, O'Riley, Kyogo & Giakoumakis for a combined £22.5 million, not a fortune (basically what we got for Bassey), very shrewd recruitment on their part.... and they don't even have a super connected director of football like our guy (apparently).

Graeme Robb

Thanks very much guys. Really appreciate the post match, and really need it after that game

Charles McIntyre

Suffice to say the least at an absolute minimum we should have expected was to match their intensity particularly in the first 30mins. To not even do that is very worrying.

David Angus

See on their second goal. A defence splitting pass from 30+ yards to a front man making a run and scoring clinically. I have asked about 20 Rangers supporting friends when is last time we scored a goal like that? Genuinely. We had 55% possession, made more passes and lost 4 0. Don't need to be Pep to see the issue is we are slow, boring, pedestrian and risk averse so teams are happy for us to have the ball. Kent being good defensively and Kamara being a #10 are the two biggest myths ever. On what fuckin planet!

alisdair arkless

Managed to the end and David is right, my life is a misery not for the weekend but till Tuesday at least

David

The football under Gio since game 1 in pre season has been the worst I have ever seen. Things won't get better until Wilson, Gio and and the Parks are gone

Craig Armstrong

Was a good pod yesterday which covered everything succinctly. Going through the posts here just now there is nothing that hasn't been missed or really controversial. What staggered me yesterday was our utter lack of pace. We know what they are going to be like, it's not new, but to simply forget that when they cross the line is unforgivable. We have a lot of the ball but we do nothing but pass back and forward in front of teams with little effect. Look at the pace they go forward with, 2 / 3 passes and they're in our box. What is even more frustrating is that we can play like that but whatever the reason we just cant do that in Scotland. If anyone can explain that I'd appreciate it. I also saw a comment that the board will have seen this season as a success already. Financially it appears that this is the case, but I think we deserve an explanation as to why we havent spent some more money especially when we knew there was positions requiring strengthening. They also need to explain the "going high" on prices. It has been take take from them to an extent of now taking for granted. I've put in to Edmiston House, MyGers, bought from the shop and online been to the games I can. Paying for the disaster that was Sydney will probably be shoehorned into any response, but that is on them, not us. I hope this is a line in the sand and day of intense discussions is going on and if Alfie's attitude has been an issue, then there are a few players in there who certainly need to look in the mirror and all of them need to stop going in a huff when things go against them. They didn't against Leipzig the certainly shouldn't against anyone in Scotland.

James Cameron

i have been in denial about the team and management and it hurts me to say this. We will never win the league under Gio away games we drop too many points and give teams to much respect. Will he change the way we play away from home I don't think he will I dread watching our away games in the league. The players this is not just under Gio but also under Gerrard we underperform massively. How often have discussed this over the last 4 or 5 year. I love this group of players yet they underperform or have results like yesterday this was the final straw for me. I can no longer defend some of our players time and time again they let US down Europe we punch above our weight that will come to end one day.. My main issue is since 55 the club have stood still our recruitment has been woeful. Our midfield that ended yesterday was telling. We still have not signed a quality midfielder who can make this forward passes in midfield or able to sign a RW. What has been telling for me we were never going to replace the quality of Aribo and Bassey but we never replace the physicality of them that's been telling this season. Sometimes I come come on H&H have a rant, be absolutely ecstatic after a great performance and for some hope after bad performances or the bad times which we have had there was always hope. But yesterday I didn't get that hope I think we are in for a long season. I hope come May I am wrong and every single one of you on here can ram every word down my throat

Robert White

A good keeper saves the 1st half hit shot on goal. It's a different game. Those wanting Greegsy out, well that's not worked out.

Nick Reilly

Every time we passed it they were right on us instantly. We didn’t do the same to them. I thought Lundstram & other players couldn’t keep possession quite a few times , though this is true, this was partly because of their press being higher than us & constant sadly. GK is major issue but overall problems are worse as we had nothing creatively in midfield or defensively. Also very little up front with no one supporting Colak

David Kiltie

£22.5m? Hardly peanuts. They have outspent us nearly fourfold since Ange took over. No doubt Celtic’s fawning lapdogs in the media will make out that that he has worked a miracle on a shoestring budget, as they did with Martin O’Neill.

Paul fitzpatrick

£22.5 is less than they got for selling Ajer and Frimpong. Key point though is that the majority of their signings have hit the ground running.

Sgems90

Surprised to hear that you didn’t expect but feared that result. I expected it after Gio’s wild team selection. Square pegs in round holes against a rampant Celtic side is never going to end well. The manager/management team appear to be taking this team backwards in terms of improving them as a player and team, patterns of play, set plays, you name it. They’re much more content with our centre backs having 75% possession of the football. I don’t see this team or management clawing back a 5 point gap and GD of +24. Depressing times indeed.

Adam Copeland

It is simple for me and it is my opinion. Obviously everyone may differ. The style and tactics in the league are woeful. You can get beat at Parkhead but there is ways to get beat. This is twice in 3 games there this has happened The away performances since he came in have been shocking. If nothing changes in his style of play our league season is done by Tynecastle. If that's the case I just cannot see us improving domestically under Gio. I really hope he does but if not I want us to be looking into brininging an attack minded manager in for the start of next season, which means Christmas time to start working with this squad. Bodo / Glimt manager for me.

Tom C

Top shift, guys. Appreciate the diligence. I hope you're not tempted off the wagon, David!!

Alan Cowan

The board will hang on to the Dutch connection until we are punted out of Europe, then they can blame GVB. Until Park and the others are removed, then we are stuck with the small minded no ambition clowns. Success to them is off the pitch It's selling merch, season tickets, and screwing as much out of the support as possible, then a little more. Parasites. On our recruiting, this window has been a shocker and we are still suffering for previous disasters. Probably couldn't sign anyone in August as UEFA are sniffing around with FFP. Goldson should have been let go and I really have to question the extended contract time given to him and Tavernier. Think of the wages being wasted on players with a proven history of injuries, player signed 2 years ago that hasn't kicked a ball, problem missed at medical, Soutter made of glass, Roofe career riddled with injuries.Helander same. Anyone out injured isn't for a week or two, it's weeks and months. If they're cheap and injury prone, we'll buy.

Douglas Innes

i want to believe that the players were well aware of how Celtic play i just believe the players don't believe how we set up is the way to beat them , any initiative we gained from Hampden semi final was lost when he named the team GVB sacrificed a forward for a midfielder then asked Tillman to play a role thats looked Alien to him

Douglas McIntyre

The manager is incapable of questioning Scottish refs, there’s no chance he’ll speak out about funding/signing.

Alan Kirker

Fair play for doing that. A good listen (well as good as it can be in this circumstance).

John McDonald

Painful listening but a very honest appraisal of the situation. I often have a jumble of thoughts rolling around my head, H & H always join the dots for me. I know some angry fans are lashing out at H & H contributors, wrong targets guys, I appreciate and applaud their efforts, I still think the site is the best source of information there is, keep up the good work!

Gary Brown

Well done Colin, David & Martyn. That is almost definitely the most difficult post match show to have stepped up for since Gerrard took the job. That you ALL did it SO well, so soon after FT; remaining calm, balanced & objective, reflective but forward thinking, clearly pained but without lashing out, (nor looking for excuses!) shows just why H&H is the pinnacle of Rangers Fan Media. Thank you lads 👍👍👍👏👏👏 I don't see the point in adding my tuppenceworth of opinion to the points you raised. I simply wanted to thank you, for what you do and how you do it.

Louch

Glad I listened to this today. Had the thoughts re the board setting Gios goals as being finance over silverware and good it’s not just me who holds that might be true. Board seems finance focussed which will prevent 2012, but we are gonna stay in the 2010’s watching others get success at home while we thrive away if things don’t change.

Pedro M SVO

great pod tough one to do for yous

Fraser Martin

I’m not super staunch but when Çolak hugged their full back in the tunnel, my heart sank.

David Kiltie

TBF, the myth that refs are our 12th man is so ingrained that questioning refs would be greeted with ridicule. That lot’s cynical pressuring of refs has been a really successful strategy for them. I am sure GVB is disappointed that we didn’t make further signings but a manager criticizing his club’s board publicly is not a good look (eg Brendan Rodgers recently).

Robert White

16/30 points away from home under Gio. We will never win the league under Gio. Once you accept that, you realise he has to go. World Cup window is the time.

KennyY

Feeling as bad today as I did yesterday. Most of us have gloating to face at work next week. Don’t this group know what Rangers means to us the fans. Our recruitment has been dire for a few seasons with very limited success stories. Forget new contracts for Kent and Morelos. Kent has been awful for a while and Morelos is still unfit and has nothing to offer. Badly let down.

Gary Shields

Couldn’t agree more mate. Take Europe out of equation and his league form and away form in particular isn’t good enough. The Europa run gave him goodwill. I haven’t at any point since his appointment felt comfortable domestically and I haven’t liked the look of his team style since day 1. The eight games we won when he came in glossed over the performances. We won’t win a title with him in charge and we need to realise it and take action

John Johnston

No matter how bad things get just be thankful we are bears and not them.

Rona Bluebell

Waited until today to listen while on a long walk. You three are truly amazing. How you remain so calm and reasonable right after the game is remarkable. Absolute respect. Stay strong ❤️🤍💙

George Higgins

Pretty strong to call them parasites . If you are right about FFP and I suspect you are then there’s not much the board could do. We can’t get the perma injured out of the club because they are injured. I think not giving Davis, Arfield and McGregor contracts and selling Sakala would have freed up funds to make a difference.

George Higgins

And it won’t happen. How much would it cost to terminate the contracts of the management team and how much do you pay an adequate replacement .

Graham Leatherbarrow

Can anyone provide a full and complete Net income v expenditure model, over last year this should form the basis of demanding answers from the board, the turnaround since we won 55 in domestic form is staggering. Where has money gone? What are the future plans? Where do you apply for job as scout to spot an injury free player who would improve team?

Stuart

Fair play lads for standing up and making this pod. You make a lot of good points that seem like this result and lack of performance has confirmed. Reaching the point that we believe Gio won’t win us the league is quite a damning indictment of the performance of both players and management. Where do we go from here? This result and non performance was humiliating and embarrassing. Be interesting to see how Gio responds to this repeat of the horror show from February. Gutted….. I so want to say something positive but I can’t🤬

Mark Smith

Thanks for the pod. Great perspective and much better than social media and even trolling through the comments on follow follow.

Billy Forrester

Never win anything with this current spineless team, soft, no fight, got bullied and played off park by them, they will win treble this year as they are miles ahead of us, we are awful and far too slow, serious questions about Gio and his tactics, he doesn’t get Scottish league football. Worrying times and only September. Scunnered with this team beyond belief right now

Stephen Grant

The players weren’t aware , first and second goal proved that , GVB definitely was aware of it but played a midfield that got ran over and were nowhere near on it

Craig McCrimmon

Took me to 3am on Sunday to listen to this one a good forensic look at a shit show of a result. Don't disagree with alot of what's been said but I genuinely think the boss needs to be given time to overhaul this squad further. David mentioned a catch 22 and I get it and for me it's inconceivable to fire a manager who has taken us to a European Final and the Champions league with a cup in the bag too. I still think we are a club in transition and sadly it takes time as we can't compete with Celtic financially. That's where the board come in with the European money the manager brought in he should have been afforded a couple more signings that would have added quality to the middle of the park and bolstered our attacking option's. I hope we stand strong together and find the stomach for the fight. We're not helped by Soutar and Davis being out coinciding with Goldson being very poor this season. The bright sparks in this season so far have been Colak, Tilman & Laurence evidence that GIO understand the quality required to take us on a level. Personally and it's just my view on things but let's get Yilmaz in the side he looks to be more dynamic. Give King a game push Sands into midfield...... Let's gamble and lt is see Morelos off the right with Côlak through the middle.... Let's see Matondo off the left with Kent sitting one out...... One thing that needs addressing and quickly is Tav and Goldson as a pair away from home domestically..... It seems inconceivable that we take Tav out so is it Goldson who's the problem these goals from our right are Costly time and time again..... It cost us the holy grail in Seville and it's cost us on Saturday.... Much to ponder but for me I pray to God we stick with Gio it will break my heart to see him fail. One from left field but we could do alot worse than getting Kevin Thompson in to help us figure things out domestically won't happen but fuck it I'm putting it out there.

John Palmer

I said the same thing after the game when I was emotional and angry but since I've calmed down I still think the same thing. Rangers won't Win the League this Season. The display from Celtic on Saturday showed that they are going to run away with it this Season. I know it's only September but I can't see them dropping points anytime soon but I can however see us dropping silly points like last Season.

Pedro

Much respect to you three guys for your candour and dignity in your response. I've been in a hole for 48 hours

Jock Paterson

Maybe Rangers mean more to them than it does to you? I wouldn’t be mocking what supporters have going on in their life. And it was ill advised, at best. Their time might have been better spent going over where they were found wanting, for the ten grand plus they ‘earned’ this week?

Doug Young

Like I said above, there are few in this team who know their shirt is safe and there is no pressure on them- Kent, Goldson definitely. Borna has pressure on his place now and was arguably the only player with passmarks in that nightmare. Three defensive midfielders are pointless when we know the opposition play so quickly, they bypass the midfield a lot. It was a collective clusterfuck and I agree with the shakeups suggested above. In my eyes, King, McCann and Lowry are ready for the step up and will at least have some effing passion.

Ryan Stewart

Just getting round to listening to this now and I’m still absolutely scunnered. The hardest part to accept is just how unprepared we looked, you know exactly what you are going to face when you go there. They start games at 100mph and we start games like it’s a Sunday kick about with your mates. That’s 2 out of our last 3 visits we have been completely blown away and the game has been dead by half time. The 3rd we still conceded in the first 20 minutes but managed to hang around and get a draw. GVB’s domestic record is appalling, we have won less half our away games under him, it’s no where near good enough. The European success has been incredible and it will keep him in a job for the season anyway I’d think. It’s hard to see his football winning a league though.
