It's another quick turnaround as we return to Ibrox on Saturday, this time on league business.

With little or no margin for error and a Dundee United side who hasn't won in six league matches the opponents, a win is the minimum we can expect.

The Preview is brought to you by Alex, Steven, and Kevin.

Twice now I've feel like we've seen Gio change his tactics based on "fan noise". Last year he won the first 9ish games making very little subs if any. Then after "break" team would look dead on their arse and still no subs. Cue fans screaming why no subs. Suddenly Gio starts making subs and we go on an amazing euro run once he started trusting the old guard. FF to 2022-23. Zonal marking is brutal. Hemoragging goals at corners. Gio defends zonal marking, and get spanked 4-0 & 4-0. Then up until Sands red we see arguably best team performance, both attacking and defending as a team. Zonal marking is gone and we revert man to man. Am I overthinking this or does Gio change when he feels heat and pressure?

On the subject of replacing Ryan Kent, I think right now Barrie McKay is twice the player he is

Alex again spot on with size of squad and nuances of why we haven’t changed midfield. We are hamstrung with permanent fixtures in the treatment tables, legacy players who had gone past their sell by date last year like Arfield who seems to be coated in Teflon as despite being slow, lacking in quality, can’t shoot anywhere bar at the keeper but he’s sentimentally held onto because he runs about a bit. The whole issue around talent is a red herring to me. It doesn’t have to be Wilson likes the players and Gio doesn’t can’t it just be some are still settling or haven’t shown enough to displace those who are established ? Gio made the point he played the team for game, instead of getting credit for picking a combative team that almost got a result it’s an issue as he didn’t put in enough ‘new’ guys. Where I do agree with Kev is around the kids and guys like Kent. Kent has never been a £7 million player for us anywhere near consistently enough, he gets a pass on effort where the much maligned Wright who has better numbers is widely held up as gash. I like Kev think we should have been promoting the kids as a core part of the team, the message should have been they are being seen as first team era. In terms of the no Dutch guys point, if he had brought a load in folk would be complaining it was a Dutch take over coming over stifling our youth. We need to let this breathe a bit, we aren’t settling CL alight but realistically we had no right to expect to. Bar the game vs them what has really Gone wrong so far this season? I agree with Alex circumstance and external influences have brought us here.

I see no discernible style and there's a lack of vibe. Successful Rangers teams had a vibe - you felt they were building towards something with key players in key positions. A swagger about them and some attitude. Lowry has that vibe. This looks to be a team in decline. Not that it's zenith was extraordinary. Yes, we got to a Euro final but the trophy return has been poor for a Rangers team. The reason we get hard games in the league is because diddy teams think they have a decent chance. Not so against Palestine FC.

Great listen lads, I've got to stick up for Kent in that he's knocked out the best part of 20 assists a season for the past couple of seasons and he'll probably do the same again this season. I hate to compare him to a Celtic player but he's had seasons with numbers pretty similar to Aiden McGeady when he won young player and players player, I'm not sure what's changed since then but all of a sudden people want 40 g/a a season. Neil McCann, who's rightly regarded as a rangers hero, in his best season got just over half of what Kent got last season. Although in fairness Kents finishing has fallen off a cliff since 55. 5-0 Rangers tomorrow.

Kent couldn't finish his dinner has been a shadow of the player we have seen over the last season or so he doesn't score enough

Honestly mate it isn't a crazy expectation to batter Dundee Utd because they have drawn 0-0 and beat Livi 2-1 in their last two matches.... that's not really the superb results made out. Implying our centre mid lack of signings isnt a mistake, when we gave so many nee contracts, rather than get new ones is sort of mind blowing.

After the infamously turgid game at McDiarmid where we made zero subs, we collectively seemed to get this idea in our heads that Gio had never made any subs - and it really wasn't true Gio's first 9 games in the run up that to winter break: Sparta - 4 subs Livi - 3 subs Hibs - 3 subs Dundee - 3 subs Lyon - 4 subs Hearts - 2 subs St. Johnstone - 2 subs Dundee United - 2 subs St. Mirren - 2 subs The set piece marking change may have more to do with McGregor being back in goal or it may simply be that it wasn't working. Gio is a bit of a paradox at times - we lined up more attacking away to PSV than at home to Kilmarnock - but he is consistently flexible in approach so it shouldn't surprise us when he changes things around

Graeme Price

I know folks disagree with me on this, but don't bench a guy on a hot streak! Yes Morelos changes things but who was in the middle to take advantage of those early chances? I guarantee Tony gets one of those. Getting in front early could've changed that tie. Tillman would've been better starting on that game too.

The amount of fans that give kent a pass is unbelievable this " kent never hides " which doesn't really add to anything , 1st half V's Napoli he cuts in gets inside the box & I'm screaming for him to shoot but nothing happens sad to say but Jota or Abada let fly at that point

"We saw a comet over Ibrox before we saw some of our summer signings" 😂 Thank you gentlemen, excellent pod. The way the three of you take some of the hot topics in the fanbase and discuss them with both a real breadth of perspectives and a real depth of detail and nuance is first class I'm more in Strider's camp - I think several of our summer signings will look like excellent business by the end of this season. I'd be surprised if we don't end the season with Colak sitting on 20+ goals, Lawrence, Tillman and Davies as first picks, and I wouldn't be surprised if Matondo and Yilmaz are also there or thereabouts Alfie certainly looked much more like himself but I'm surprised there hasn't been more criticism of him doing his best to have us down to 9 men for the second time in his last 3 games - I'm honestly amazed the ref didn't (rightly) book him for pulling a player back given how card happy he was in general

Michael Gray

Yes, the difference between champions league and Europa is vast, but I believe our team the last previous three seasons would have been more competitive. That it’s not, indicates how our squad has regressed

I really like Kent, I think he does indeed scare teams with his pace and directness but his decision making and shooting are horrendous at times. What really gets me though is that we are wedded to playing him regardless of output. Even in fairness to the boy himself drop him out and change our tactics as we can’t just ‘give it to Kent’ when he is being doubled or tripled up on. When our attack clicks it’s slick and effective it just doesn’t ‘click’ consistently enough at all and it’s time we mixed the personnel and tactics up a bit!
