After a struggling start our games in the Champions League don't get any easier, but perhaps we are about to face Liverpool at the best possible time?.

Next up it's the standout fixture as we head south to face Liverpool at Anfield.

Alex, Steven, and Kevin are on hand with The Preview.

I always think Trents biggest weakness in that Liverpool side is his lack of pace. Saw Perisic leg him for Inter in last seasons ucl and he's touching his mid 30's, I'd tell Kent to try and burn him all game. Hopeful 0-1 Rangers.

Kevin Richmond

Please can you pronounce Čolak properly? It's actually ruining these podcasts 😭

A bit off topic but I really hope certain factors (national anthem etc.) do not create a bad atmosphere in what should be a great occasion. It is important to remember that Rangers and Liverpool are bound together by the two worst football tragedies in British history. Less sombrely, Bill Shankly was always at heart a Rangers man!

Mark

I'm forty-six and am struggling to remember us ever having such a difficult run of games in my lifetime.

Great pod as always lads! 👌On a side note to tomorrow night’s game. Is there such a thing as a ‘dead rubber’ in the Champions League for club in our position when there’s £800k for a point and £2.4M for a win at stake? Not necessarily a criticism as I can see the merits in giving the younger players the minutes and most importantly the experience.

Steven Harrigan

The values from Struth, Shankly, and Walter instilled are all similar. No complaints from me.

Kev’s negativity at the start was a bit harsh I thought? I understand that the 2nd half performance not great but we should’ve been 3-0 at HT and could have been 4 (or more) if chances were taken. And we won 4-0…🤷🏻 Kev is definitely the Ying to Alex’s Yang!!

@bluebeans

Jeez oh Kev, opinions as ever course but really ? That did sound like moaning for moaning sake. The way our refs are, taking Davies off was a good call. As for Celtic, they beat Hearts reserves 2-0 at home….that’s one of our toughest games of the year, we won it 0-4. If that’s driving you nuts? - that aside great show as ever lads.

Making Strides

A more than fair point, yeah. I guess it comes down to whether or not we believe points, even with our strongest side, are likely, or if the experience for some players would be more of a guarantee and potentially as valuable in the longer term. These games will be done in about a month's time, so maybe that will play a big part too.

Don Maclean

Great point. If anything there’s no reason the two aren’t incompatible. I certainly believe for likes of King, Yilmaz and Lowry, they can be ‘bloodied’ in the UCL without necessarily resulting in a drop in quality or performance level compared to those in front of them.

Derek Gardiner

If we had to beat Man City, I’m certain Kev would still have more negatives, than positive points

Greg

Spot on Kev, I thought we were really poor for most of the second half and had halliday buried that free header we would have been in panic mode.

Why wouldn’t you play the guy who needs one touch to finish ? Seen absolutely nothing from Morelos this season that suggests he starts over Colak. When things are tight the big man just needs a ball to fall to him in the box and he will get a shot on, the idea we automatically need Morelos to hold it up 20 yards from goal and play folk in is mental, it’s also why we became really one dimensional over last few seasons. Wingers and a striker has worked for us why are we desperate to go back to something that was stale ? Just don’t get it personally. Get the shackles off and go for it as one things for sure if we try and sit in we won’t hold out, so much of the momentum we built last few seasons came from going for it in Europe, I hope we back ourselves and have a go.

David Harrison

Tavenier also. Drives me bananas. And Edgar calling our new signing Ben Davis instead of Davies. It’s not difficult.

Angus Mackay

We obviously went out in the second half to control the game and make chances in due time, which we did. It could have been a little tighter, but it was perfectly under control. I can't think of many more comfortable wins against decent Hearts sides at Tynecastle. As for the other lot, it's easy to ragdoll the jobber teams when you only have one game a week; the doings evaporated pretty quickly once they had midweek games to cope with. As Alex rightly points out, they have been talked up to a ridiculous degree. The OTT moaning in the past month has been the worst ever, it's been totally embarrassing at times.

Michael Gray

Hope you’re wrong with the team Strider!
