I'll give Davies, king and goldson pass marks . Macgregor was world class at 40. The rest should be embarrassed to pick up a wage.

Colin Gardner

Reading comments the problems were caused by ticketless fans.I don't know if this is true but if it is then something really has to be done about this.It happens at Ibrox and I just don't understand why a steward or police officer can't stand at the turnstile checking a ticket before entering. Its going to take something aweful to happen before it gets sorted.

Alistair Simpson

Starting to wonder if McLaughlin was ever actually injured, or if it was just GVBs way of trying to spare his blushes and not making McGregors return like a public dropping

Robbie McCarroll

Controversial opinion and I know first goal was a belter but I said before he hit it McGregor left a lot of goal to aim at. At that range you have enough distance for dip. I know all goalkeepers from the start of time do this but these days with the full 10yards marked out, modern balls etc starting to think leaving 2/3 of the goal open is asking for trouble if his starting position was one yard to his right he has a better chance of saving it and I doubt the shot was ever going to the other corner. Not a rant at McGregor MOTM but I wonder if modern football should not expect the wall to cover 2/3 of the goal…

C. J

I tend to think there was very little he could have done in the end. He moved his feet incredibly fast by his own standards and Trent's strike was moving at a fair pace. It was a brilliant goal, sometimes elite free kick takers just outdo goalkeepers, even if they get their positioning absolutely perfect.

Dingus

As well as McGregor, I’d contest that Conor Goldson was also someone that could come off the pitch happy with his performance. Unlike the majority, he didn’t look out of place at this level.

Gregg

I’m not an expert on goalkeeping by any means but my two bobs worth is when the ball goes into the side netting on the walls ‘side’ it’s always gonna be very difficult for the goalie

Robbie McCarroll

Yeah I do agree. Was annoyed at the time having called it out but that’s maybe as this has been a football annoyance of mine for a while I’m sure the professionals know what there doing. honestly though pause the video when the kick is taken mcgreror is 1 yard from the far post leaves himself a lot of ground to cover.

George Higgins

For me Kent and Lundstrum looked as if the occasion overawed them. Tilman was anonymous. On a positive we can’t be any worse next week and a point might be enough to help us get a Europa league spot which is the level we are at right now.

Graham McCallum

The reality of last nights match is summed up with the fact that Gerrard started our Europa league campaigns 5 years ago, in that time Liverpool have been in 3 champions league finals We have progressed in every year of that run. The progression has been achieved this year by reaching the group stages

Graham Macgregor

Crushing before the game was horrendous, Emma Dodds medley was tremendous!

Neil Buchanan

Who even is Echosmith 🤷🏼‍♂️

William

Just like parkhead twice this year..with no plan to win and a totally submissive display I don't buy the huge jump in class, there is a gap in quality but this should be nullified by endeavour at the very least. This team which only a few months ago went to Dortmund and put on a convincing winning display. There are issues with certain players who have downed tools, however under this manager we have severely regressed to a point where it appears the players who have done so well in the past, seem to be either confused or are not buying into this management.

chris smith

It was a shitebag performance that would have been 5 or 6 if not for Shagger. We need two things to compete. 1. A completely new midfield with legs and lungs. 2. A manager with ambition.

Tamus

I dont think its a massive step up, that's an excuse, we are a FAR poorer this year than last. Absolutely no self belief - we are taking the field expecting to be pumped. Too many non triers and surrender monkeys in our team - Ryan Kent is an absolute joke of a professional

Gregg

Agreed wholeheartedly with Martyn - spot on

Jamie Kirk

How has it caught us out? If GVB had been caught out by the standard of the champions league then he shouldn’t be a football manager. Your telling me that GVB Roy mackaay and our experienced players like McGregor and Davis who have been there and done it didn’t all understand the jump in level in the CL? Not a chance. Our players are just not good enough. That’s all. We over achieved in europa. Ibrox won the games most of the time. Not the players. We can still win the league. Celtic are nowhere near as good as people think. This is our first season in CL so I am not raging with us in Europe. We will learn and improve. To say we got caught out is incorrect.

Steven Lees

Yes it’s a step up in class however that is masking the drop of in performances and effort. It’s the same tepid negative set up and the same players who seem to have chucked it. Dortmund are at the same level of quality to what we have played this season. Our levels have significantly dropped not so much that the opposition has significantly improved. Look at our two shit the bed performances at Parkhead this year are their levels top champions league side???? No! We have fallen off a cliff in terms of desire, effort, recruitment and organisation. Not fully that our opponents have got so much better, we have got so much worse on every level

Gary Brown

Well said. Totally agree. Also need to remember that UEL group stage qualification was unexpected and an over achievement, admitted by the management team. Plus we made errors from naivety & inexperience at that level in that campaign, these cost us many points. However! We learned, we developed & progressed, then we learned more, developed more, progressed more and most importantly earned more. This is no different. As Martyn said look at Club Brugge - now actually competing in CL group stage, been qualifying the past 5 or 6 seasons, taking heavy beatings, then lower defeats, then draws & some wins, now wins. Experience, finance, progression! In every league or tournament group there are Gold, Silver & Bronze levels of teams. In our league we are the gold standard, in CL we are bronze. We have 3 gold level teams to contend with. Also agreeing with Martyn. Blood & thunder tactics do not work against superior talent anymore, they never really did! This campaign is all about the qualification to the group and learning what is required at this level. The difference in quality is vast. Liverpool players KNEW what they were going to do next BEFORE receiving the ball - the control of reception and execution of their own pass practically a 'given'. Our guys are just not to that standard and a second to adjust to receive a pass, another second, or more, to look up, think and try to pass it on is just too much time to give opposition of this level. Lets not forget, this time last year we were struggling at the bottom of our Europa League group against lower level opposition. And when the draw was made against one of the better CL drop outs, every rational Rangers supporter thought our euro campaign was 'Dortmund & done!'

Gordon Millar

Totally agree with the point that some players are not buying into the process. The great teams of the past had cohesion, passion and if we were up against better teams we were beat with skill and quality but never on work rate. The work rate( for some players) has fallen off a cliff and its hard to understand how this could happen so quickly.
