I was particularly happy that we never played Albion Rovers in the league thereby ensuring that they didn’t benefit from the blue pound.

It’s been said many times before, the criticism of Ally as a manager is 100% valid, but what he done for the club and holding it together post 2012 can’t be understated. As I listen to this pod, I’m buzzing at the prospect of going to see us play Liverpool at Ibrox in the Champions League tonight. Would we be at this point if it wasn’t for Ally’s stewardship of the club in the days of the spivs? I’m not sure we would be, and I think his contribution to our club is way more important than the role of a football manager.

Guy Incognito

I'm maybe paraphrasing, but did you say that if Ally had left during this period we'd have ended up with some no-name from a far flung league who'd be ridiculed by the press and wouldn't last a season? Good job we didn't fall into that particular trap, eh? (Insert Pedro Caixinha gif here)

We were warned about Charles Green by the Sheffield Utd supporters. He was supposed to be a boyhood Sheffield United fan and he tried to bleed them dry. I think we were so desperate to cling onto any sort of hope, that the majority of us just ignored or refused to believe the warnings. And I was guilty of it 100%

Dunfermline steak bridie is much better than the poorer uglier stepsister that is a Forfar mince & onion bridie

I stopped going to away games in 2012 after the way most other clubs enjoyed kicking us. Really miss the banter and the excitement of the being in the away support, but just can't bring myself to forgive any of them enough to give them my money. Personal decision, and not intended as any criticism of those who still follow follow everywhere. I made an exception for cup games for a while as the gate is split, wish I hadn't when I was at that horror Petrofac final at Easter Road against Raith Rovers. That was as low as I remember feeling after a game, I thought we were never going to get back to the top again.

Rob Shorthouse

I was about to furiously disagree with you - but every time I've been in Dunfermline I've ended up utterly blootered! I've no recollection of the bridie - or much else for that matter. Always a brilliant day out.

Alistair Simpson

100% agree with the sentiments on Ian Black. There's been a few rangers players over the years I've disliked. Ian Black is the only one I've literally hated. Thought he was a scumbag before he signed for us and that never changed

Bob MacCallum

Black was a plastic hardman. If he really had been hard, I could have tolerated him....maybe.

Thanks for requesting and answering the questions David & Rob. Its always interesting to hear your views on the Ally era (& other things too!). Oh Easter Road. That wasn't the lowest I ever felt during the wilderness years but it was probably the most 'lost'. Just an absolutely gutting feeling of acceptance, conceding how things were (similar to what Davids Edgar & Herd said). It had kinda got beyond anger by that point, just a 🙄"FFS, not again, but aye it is again - yet again! Is this who we are now?" and that mediocrity on & off the park was now commonplace.

Sandaza got a 6 figure pay off from us.

I can't agree with the final answer about the fanbase being more skeptical when Charles Green so successfully pulled the wool over everyone's eyes.

If you ever witness Dean Shiels on the touchline as a manager you will have a bad word to say about him. He's an absolute ball beg the way he gets on. Nearly as bad as his da
