Apropos of nothing... when banned from FF, is it customary to be given a time-frame for the designated period of exile, or does it always just say 'you have been banned'? Asking for a friend (of course)

Jamie Graham

You give us too much credit, Colin. It was within 6 mins Salah got his hat-trick.

Tamus

That's your account gone for good mate - you would normally get a time frame otherwise

Doug

Putting the money aside, having referees working an extra day a week can only help their experience and hopefully therefore their abilities/decision making.

Tamus

Salah hatrick was 6 mins - I've just been for a really quick jobby and it took me 8mins. Gio is not still in a job because of his domestic form, he's in a job because we can't afford to sack him. However he is a dead man walking. He's hot f*ck all left in the bank with me

Scott Carney

I am a bit shocked you glossed over Tav's interview last night. I think personally it was a terrible statement. Basically giving the excuse of Salah coming on as if that's the reason, when the players clearly chucked it. The problems run deep and it was disrespectful to the fans in my opinion. People paying up to 180 quid to go to 3 games and we have to accept "Salah came on". Not on.

Craig Clements

Just came out my social media bunker for the first time since Wednesday. Tav thinks no one chucked it? He should try watching his teammates from our seats it would be more obvious. Kent chucked it in August ffs

Ally Mair

Getting to the point of seriously pissed off with our injuries now what the hell do we do in training , we can’t have this much bad luck , we will need to get gough back for a 3rd stint at this rate

Tom

I'm with you Ally. It can't be coincidence. We look a pale shadow of the fit team that brought home 55. Are these injuries caused due to fitness? Possibly...

Gregg

Surely if refs have increased earning potential there has to be a phased progress to them being full time. Absolute tin pot that we still have part time refs

Billy Boyce

So there is a train strike on the day we play Aberdeen? Sat 29th? Just saying as I don't see any reference to it on line, and are there any other days they are striking that affects our games?

Martin Eusebi

Think you and Alex are being generous in blaming injury numbers. Ultimately we signed Souttar knowing his history, knowing where we are with Helander. Should we do light that a couple of further injuries leave us with an 18 year old and a midfielder?

Jim Milne

I needed a vent on some players, etc. Our transfers, injuries, etc are mindboggling for a team that is still 90% Gerrard, Pedro & Warburton signings. Roofe: The guy is made of glass. We should never have bought him. He had injuries constantly before we bought him, although part of me this is when he walks away at the end of the season he won't miss a game for next 2 years. Hagi: Gerrard & Gio had been managing Hagi's gametime knowing he he had niggling injuries and was playing when not 100%. He should be we have been playing against Stirling. Goldson: This one is completely bad luck. I hope it's not long both for us and the big man. Davies: We signed him knowing he hadn't completed a full preseason. Understandably so given his wife's health issues. We still signed a guy technically unfit. Ridvan: Same as Davies. Obviously hadn't completed a preseason and couldn't speak the language. Oboforoh: Why was the issue found after he was signed? That being said I find it hard personally as a human to take issue with him being sidelined and paid. Its a terrible life defining injury he has. Whether he plays for us we need to pay the guy. Helander: Same as Hagi. Came back after and injury plagued time. Should have made him complete a preseason during the season instead of rushing him back for a Scottish Cup game against postman and bus drivers. Balogun: Loved the big man but letting him go was the correct decision. Katic: I feel we should have kept him at least until January. Gio I suspect wanted him off the wage bill to get other players more than not liking his ability. Souttar: IMO we signed him thinking Goldson was off. Terrible signing based purely on his injury plagued career. Definitely an outstanding professional defender but a terrible signing. Hope I'm proved wrong. Tav: He's obviously not 100% fit, but by letting the Polish fella leave and having Devine as our only cover we have no option to play Tav even though he isn't fit. Morelos: We should have sold him when Lille or Nice offered £16m. He may be great on European nights but his complete unprofessional behaviour every summer coming back overweight and late is a terrible optic for the team. Kent: We give the guy dogs abuse, but the way we play limits his ability to run at defenders. By the time we give him the ball he is against the side line with 3 defenders on him. I hate to say it but if we played the way Harold Bishop has them playing Kent would find himself with lots of space but IMO we move the ball to slow. Like Goldson we will miss him when he leaves. Barasic: After the OF 3-0 game he should never have worn out jersey again. He might have been decent this year but I'll never be convinced he didn't feign cramp in Europa final so he didn't have to take a penalty. Wright & Sakala: They try hard and run like they are chasing Forrest Gump, but they offer very little. They come on as a sub and play well for 10 mins but are pish over 90 mins. I don't even know if they'd be in a first 11 in a Hearts, Hibs or Sheep team. Goalies: McGregor had a worldie at Anfield and we all forgot last year. Love him, he will be a legend and like Davis they are both thought of highly from me and you there with some 9IAR players but we should've let them both go and replaced with players who would improve the team not the squad. Ross Wilson & Board: 90% of signings seem to be "Moneyball" picks that they think can pickup cheap and sell for Calvin Bassey money. Gio: As a player he never convinced me he bought in to Rangers. We were a stepping stone for him and even since the day he signed I've never been convinced he would see our his contract. Needs to go but with CL money, Europa money, Bassey money and 2pts off the top the board will view this as a success.

Stephen Strong

I've always enjoyed your Daily Updates Colin. But your glossing over and making excuses for the manager and his coaching staff was embarrassing today mate.

Shevy Kapoor

Come on Colin. Gio position is now more than ever under scrutiny. You seem to be blaming bad luck....he lost us the league last year or have you forgotten this? Also the two defeats at Parkhead.

Colin

Hi Stephen, I believe the only excuse I gave him was mentioning 7 different players with 2-3 month minimum injury spells in his year in charge. I’m also pretty sure I referred to him being criticised rightly and in some places wrongly. I also mentioned some unacceptable results that he has had. I did say that I don’t believe he will be sacked for anything that happens in Europe and that I didn’t think there was any appetite at board level to remove him just now. Other than mentioning the injuries I don’t think that’s fair to say that I was “making excuses” for him mate. Anyway I’m glad you usually enjoy the updates. Hopefully you enjoy next weeks more than this one. 👍🏻

Colin

Hi Shevy, I mentioned he has had unacceptable results. I think the injury issues that I listed can only be classified as bad luck though. All those players sidelined for so long? Europe’s gone now. We need to forget about it and judge him on what happens between now and May. Then a decision should / will be made about any manager change. Just my opinion as always I’m not saying it’s the right one but it’s how I see it.

Gregg

We need to get the players who can’t be relied to play 30+ games gone - unfortunately it’s not a quick fix. Replaced with a smaller number of quality signings with the youth players as back ups to the back ups. Our squad is bloated with players we just can’t rely on

David Kiltie

The team covered 98% of the distance Liverpool ( a super-fit top EPL side) on Wednesday night. I can’t see an unfit team doing that. A lot of the injuries are bad luck and beat in mind our heavy fixture schedule and also what opponents in Scotland get away with. Goldson is out for a while but he has hardly missed a game in 4 years. Morelos’ lengthy injury is also a departure from the norm. Up to then he was very rarely absent due to injury. Hagi‘ s absence has been a big blow - that. Could have happened to any player in any game.

David Kiltie

Colin, you say we should have shut up shop at 3-1. This is a classic “whatever you do Is wrong” scenario. Dropping back, fouling and time wasting in the hope that your opponents are happy with the lead they have - you are slated for being defeatist. Try desperately to salvage the game and be picked off - criticized for being naïve.

Gary Brown

Totally agree with you David. To which I'll add We were playing for a point and in the 1st half looked capable of getting it. Lets face it, LFC didn't have their strongest starting XI out. They did what we did vs St Mirren, kept some top talent fresh for a bigger game to come. We were still in that game, even at 1-3 and Klopp knew it, so he brought on his top talent to put it out of our reach. Its just they are three of the very elite in the world class bracket - quarter of a billion pounds worth. That amount not only buys our entire team but our stadium and entire club - and you'd still be left with a huge chunk of change. Plus superior fitness and ability tells later in games. So even their 'lesser' stars can press home that advantage. Now we have an idea what its like to support St Mirren, Livi or Ross County, etc playing us - given the right set of circumstances, in an open game, we can dish out a proper hiding.

Gary Brown

Thanks for the update Colin. In my opinion balanced views. Not overly critical and / or hysterical like so many. Not sugar coating it or making excuses either.
