Fringe players showing why they are fringe players. Bored of the focus on tactics as that’s just letting off underperforming players, some who have been that way for more than one manager, who continue to underperform. Some decent effort from guys like Tillman, Ridvan and Wright but shocking contributions from guys like Lundstrum, Morelos and Sakala who are either not up to it or phoning it in. There is absolutely no way that this is what the players are being coached to do this is on them when they cross the line. Players need to stop the strop and step up and grab this season it’s like we are still hungover from winning 55 and never moved passed the day after that dressing room blow out.

Morelos plays when he wants. Always has done. Natural parting of the ways is inevitable. There is a reason no big clubs took a punt on him and that reason is Alfredo, and his attitude.

Thanks for the post match presser pod David, Stevie & Caroline. Gio giving an honest assessment, as usual. It is just a case of getting through to the next round. We have plenty of injuries to first team starters, we have had a packed, very tough schedule recently which is certainly mitigation. No excuses, just fact. The manager & player acknowledge it is not up to expected standards and improvement is needed. However! Bear this in mind - just how many times have we seen this type of performance and result? Drawn against lower league opposition in the cup, the squad / fringe players get a chance - but every single time the fans expectation is that 11 players who have never played as a team before will play silky, stylish football and rack up a cricket score! But it never, ever happens! Next cup game = same scenario, the same performance and result, a narrow win. Tonight is in no way a surprise! It happens practically all the time. All the old adages apply, big stage for the opposition, playing a big team, might not get another chance at this level. Rangers squad players with less match time, unfamiliar with regular starters & vice versa but still the same unrealistic expectation comes out which has been continously proven to be practically unobtainable and occurring exceptionally rarely. Plus points Ridvan, King, Wright in spells, even McLauchlin showed some nice play. 1/4 of the season done, 2pts behind in the league, semi final of League Cup, Champions League qualification & participation = a decent report card! Especially considering we have not played particularly well yet (bar USG, PSV & St Mirren at Ibrox & Hearts away). We are still very much in every competition we have a realistic chance of winning.

100% Bravely said! He is not and never has been as talented & skillful as the legend he, Gerrard & the fans have made him out to be. Public soundbytes like "not available at any price", "£50 million striker" from SG were purely to flatter the ego to try & get the best out of him plus give the (false) impression he was better than he is - opinion by a true world class player, who has played with world class strikers, Torres, Suarez. I get why fans buy into the legend - he really has been our only or main option for 5 years. eg if you've only ever had hamburger on your menu, you have no idea how good steak, lobster, etc are - so hamburger is the best thing! Very poor goals to games ratio against standard 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 league teams. Euro record inflated by a couple of years qualifying rounds scudding eg Red Imps. Good defenders dont even bother challenging him, let him lose the ball by himself, happens quick enough and more often than not. Team has been set up for too long to play to his strengths and when he isn't there / can't be bothered / can't execute we drop points. Last season as sub Roofe pulled us out the fire at least twice, Aberdeen H 150th match and Dundee away, getting goals at the death to secure wins and keep the title race going, or we'd have been out of it by Easter. Good servant, right guy at the right time but the club have simply out grown him and that time is past.

It’s not as if these fringe players haven’t played in the team or are complete strangers, vast majority bar yilmaz have played and featured regularly over last 12 months so this nonsense that we can’t expect them to play stylish football is exactly that, nonsense, they were playing Dundee ffs. The whole squad is weak and very unbalanced and until we get rid of some of them and buy proper quality this is what we will be served up for the foreseeable future, we are stale and slow and it’s very boring and frustrating to watch, something stinks within Ibrox I feel and it’s going to fester u til changes within the boardroom and management are done
