Hoggy is back from both Spain and Switzerland and, along with Cammy, is utterly perplexed at Rangers' form falling off a cliff.

It's led to calls for the manager to go given the alarming nature of both this and the player's form and this is reflected in your general mood.

I think he has to go for his own sake. It’s not fair to keep him in a job only to be slowly tortured.

John Smith

Incidentally, even after Hamilton, I still wanted Gerrard to stay. I just don’t have that feeling this time

Tamus

Gio out - 1-7 the heaviest home defeat in 150 years and soon the worst Champions League group effort of any team EVER. PLEASE just go - youre spoiling my happiness

Dougie

Regressed. In every area of the club. Recruitment. Fan experience. Ticketing. Coaching. Fitness. Defending. Board comms.Tactics. All areas except one-making cash from fans thru strips, marketing emails, commercial deals. Says it all. Gio is a dead man walking. The board are distant and disliked. The club needs a full reboot from top to bottom.

Andrew Whiteside

This squad have never been good enough in the whole time they have been together. 2 trophies in 5 years for this group tells us they are not good enough. I never hear anything about how many starters are in the treatment room. With that how can you train with any intensity? How many of this team signed for Gerrard? How many are now have an eye on the exit door? Combined with players bang out of form and new players from youth ranks? This is a team in transition and given all of this is it really the fault of the manager? Or is it a consequences of a number of decisions that lead us to where we are?

100% agree on Martindale as first team coach with someone else as manager

Lewis Wardrope

Cammy, to your point about the manager being hung out to dry by the recruitment and giving aging players new deals, I 100% agree. Said it in a group chat a couple of weeks ago, that the board must think we all button up the back when they tell us Gio is involved in recruitment. We haven’t signed one Dutch player, any players that he coached/managed at Feyenoord, City youths, in China etc. Surely he has players he trusts!? Obviously most of these signings didn’t work, but we have previous managers some say in signings. You could tell that the likes of Ojo and Flanagan were Gerrard signings. You could tell Pena and Herrera were Pedro signings. There isn’t one signing that you would say Gio has chosen himself

Bob MacCallum

Re Livi and crosses, having watched it again, Kent put in 6 or 7 decent crosses, with Lundstram equalising from one then failing to score the winner from the next. From Kent's crosses, Colak missed 4 or 5 good chances, only putting one on target. This guy got away withoht criticism. Crosses per se weren't the problem, it was the players on the end of them.

Gregg

Would love to see us varying it up Bob - the goal being an example. Getting to the bye line, cutting it back, low balls etc.

Gregg

The narrative about young players drives me mad to be honest - we’ve got teenagers playing for some of the biggest clubs in the world but we are reticent to get kids in against the absolute dross that is Scottish football. Not suggesting we chuck in a 16 year old but given the current form a Lowry for example gives you some youthful enthusiasm/ exuberance and excited the fans. I’d suggest it’s worse for their development to be playing b team or not at all then being given a go.

Charles Thomson

David hasn't been wearing his lucky track suit top and it's beginning to show.

Graham McCallum

My issue is the look of getting rid of Gio after what he has actually achieved in his first year in charge. How does that look to any potential managers we might be interested in?

Martin Davies

Hi Hoggy, Cammy He has to go. It would be unfair to sack a manager based on results vs clubs with 10x our budget, however, the players don't seem to believe in his methods and as a result, they aren't going the extra mile. Also, manager's job is to improve players - ourselves are regressing at an alarming rate - and to make the team better than the sum of its parts - that's not happening either. He might have gotten a bit more credit had he played attractive, attacking football, but watching Rangers isn't entertaining. And that's not just recently, domestically it's been this way since the start of the year.

Colin Carstairs

Is it as simple as getting rid of the manager & still having the dof still in stitu ? Do we scrap the dof position or do we persist with it ? 26 players signed with the dof & we have maybe 3/4 at best who have contributed. Manger has been hampered to an extent re injuries, the lack of depth & investing in the areas which we all saw has come back to bite us big time. The way we have been conceding goals is a concern which doesn’t seem to be addressed for me.

David Millar

Haven’t listened to the whole podcast yet but have to take issue with this notion of regression. I think 15 points was mentioned but we are 1 point better off than after 11 games last season. If you want to use data it must be accurate. The scum are much better than they were but no manager of ours can do anything about what they do. They are seeing the benefit of getting pumped year on year in the CL, but still getting the tens of millions and keeping it for a rainy day which for them came last season. We need to accept that the CL is a long term project probably 5 years or more just as Benfica and Brugge have. Regarding style the last management team had a style of playing which everyone was heartily sick and moaned incessantly that he wouldn’t adapt.

Mark Boyd

The level of incessant negativity now I find so tiresome. Not having a go at individual podders. But I do not understand the level of digging out of all players and the manager. Cammy saying we haven’t improved from the summer to now. We’ve lost good players, have a chronic injury list. Qualifying for the champions league has killed Gio for many cause we can’t handle where we are and what the reality is. We are 4 points off Celtic and in the semi of the cup. The manager will not be removed. No chance. You can’t judge over an 8 week window, it’s ridiculous and the behaviour of the fans I seen best described on twitter and unstruthian. Back the manager and the players. They need to win games until they get some players back, but at the moment style of play is secondary to results.

Cameron Bell

I think I said I won’t blame anyone for sales or injuries but basing on performances and results neither have been overly convincing - Dundee QF was a scrape, and Livi out-thought us, nearly for the second game in a row. The players are not playing well.

Mark Boyd

Not disagreeing they’re not playing well Cammy. I’m disagreeing with the manager out stuff on every single pod. I don’t think he will be removed based on a poor start to a very condensed front part of the season which seen us qualify for champions league, not a good thing sadly. And find us in the semi and 4 points behind on a better points total than last year. It’s just so negative mate

Tamus

100% Our assistant manager was the Head of the much heralded Ajax Youth accad. Yet not one single rising star in

Paul Kerr

He should already be gone Hoggy. Horror show again at Parkhead, his comments after Ajax followed by the Liverpool collapse and recent performances are insurmountable in the short term. There's no trust or belief and that just takes too long to regain. I'd have had him gone after the Ajax match in all honesty. He set the tone for a squad wanting excuses. Defeatism from a Rangers manager is unacceptable. We have the resources to compete if we apply them correctly. We've proven it more than once. Then, of course, it comes back and bites him on the arse when well organised domestic teams prove too difficult for him. He's regressed the team to an extent I didn't think was possible.

Craig Watson

Well it's after 3pm...what are you guys talking about?

Cameron Bell

Fair enough, however I doubt it’s on every pod as I think it’s more like an acknowledgement of where we are and what needs to happen next. Sometimes it’s just a harsh reality but no one wants it, because if he turns it around then it’s because we are winning things

Craig Watson

And an excellent listen on the way to the game.

Hoggy

Hopefully reflected the mood of the support. Today was superb and leaves you thinking “so…..why is that not the benchmark?”

John leitch

What a difference a day makes

Lewis Wardrope

I’m not sure if he was the head of it, maybe he was, but I thought he was just a coach in it? Either way, the point stands, you’d have thought we’d have looked at players from there

Hoggy

Sure does. It’s exactly what we all wanted. I personally don’t see a way back for Gio as it requires consistency. But if he makes me eat my words and we win, I’m all for being wrong!!
