Need to sponsor ever ball from now until the end of the season!

Tom Smith

For me Tilman was best player in the 1st half, and Sakala for the 2nd half. Hope Ridvan comes back strong, as he is a shining light in our team

Craig

I thought having to shift Lundtram and Sands about would disrupt us second half, but they each excelled in both positions they played. That said, Aberdeen were absolute dugmeat, I was shocked how much space we were finding in the middle of the park and they hardly won a second ball all day which is very un-Goodwin.

Great comment but for me it opens up a real quandary, if as you rightly say the players efforts and application is what took us back to a performance why has the manager been slaughtered when to many it was obvious he wasn’t picking bizarre selections or ludicrous tactics? I’m not saying it excuses Gio but when the players don’t do the basics or have the drive he can’t do much when they cross the line. Your right it’s not a season changer but for me it shows where the real change is needed and it’s among the players for me more than other areas. Yes we still need players in if that there’s no doubt but how can these guys excuse some of the performances we have seen when we can see they can play to a high standard and intensity. They have let themselves and us down but most importantly as Lundstrum says they have allowed their gaffer to take a helluva beating from all sides. Let’s hope it’s twigged for a few, great pod as always 👍🏻

Good pod, thanks for bringing us the post match presser stuff David & Stevie, it is always really interesting and gives great insight to the team, manager, players & performance. One point I disagree with (slightly!). This IS a season turner / defining moment - EVERY game is! The draw & poor performance v Livi obviously was and the very vocally dissatisfied fans wanted manager, staff and plenty of players shown the door. In my opinion that was a massive over-reaction, misjudged and quite frankly was so loudly vocalised & vociferously 'justified' this past week to pressure the board to give the outcome those fans wanted. Which based on today and so many performances beforehand would have been a massive mistake. The point from today is - can't get too carried away with a great performance and result? Agreed. Logical. So, by the same rationale - can't get too carried away with a poor one! Good games v Hearts & St Mirren, workmanlike wins of 'win at all costs' games v Motherwell and Dundee. A draw v Livi - 1 point regained in injury time not zero! A good progressive win today. Not too shabby overall, still on for the treble!

So how much does sponsoring the matchday ball cost? Sorry for being cheeky, asking for a friend 😉😀

It’s always players. Every time. It’s just you can’t change 25 players as easy as you can change a manager!

I agree mate but some of the vitriol directed at the manager about his tactics, selections and character would lead you to believe otherwise. I hope those who were quick to kick him when down take a bit of stock and realise while we are all hurting so is he when he sets up a team and they go out and run about ignoring everything they were told or worked on. I think there is always legitimate questions to be asked of the manager but these players are responsible for our league place not him. Bar the result vs them simple levels of inherent ability and skills should outweigh any tactic. Let’s hope it’s a conversation that we look back on at end of season when we are winners and it’s been the rocket some needed.

I don’t think we’re too bad on here but Twitter etc it’s ridiculous. There’s an interesting study to be done about living out frustrations from ‘real life’ through football. I think the general unsettled feeling we all have right now about costs, politics etc is influencing the discussion. Or I could be talking out my arse, it wouldn’t be the first time 😀

Spoon

All fair, but my football is my joy and stability I’m not looking to stick my head in the sand but some of the doom and gloom is OTT for me. Your right though the wider context gives it flavour and texture. Your also right in here you can at least have a discussion even when on opposing sides of an arguement, won’t be the first time I have had a view and changed it (or at least moderated it!) based on someone else explaining it from a different perspective. It’s all good 👍🏻

Gregg

Some of the personal comments about the manager have been nothing short of embarrassing. By all means criticise performances etc
