Will be costly to remove… just might be more costly to do nothing.

Derek MacMillan

Re the points comment. Have Celtic ever started a season better? If they continue like this we'd be humped with most other managers we could afford. Ultimately the squad isn't good enough, the warning signs were there when we re-signed so many older players and didn't refresh properly. This goes to the DOF (who has been very quiet).

Kris

One of the clinchers for me is basics like fitness being terrible, that's not ok and there can be no extenuating circumstances for that after a year. Not being annihilated is another basic at any professional level and having it happen repeatedly is another unacceptable facet of Gio's management reign.

Ross Whitehead

I was hoping that the music today would be "See ya later fuckface" by The Queers

Ryan Stewart

As always with this board they will drag the arse out this and won’t take any action until the whole season is a write off. Perfect opportunity to give a new manager the World Cup break to work with the players, get their ideas across and plan the January window. Instead we are going to sit on our hands and waste the break on a manager that Stevie Wonder could see has failed and is incapable of turning it around. I’m actually at the stage of apathy now. When I watch the games I spend more time flicking through twitter than watching the actual game. I barely even celebrate goals anymore, if at all. Completely lost interest in this team under this manager.

Sgems90

The board want to give Gio time? Do the board not see the mess on the park and the turgid stuff he’s serving up week after week? Worrying times!

David Campbell

It's gonna take a demolition v celtic in January we all know it. The level of anger I have for the club atm is strong. A year of zero communication from the club has caused this disconnect between us and the club.

Iain Mitchell

Most of us have said for weeks/months this ain’t going to work yet were still here. Totally understand it’ll cost millions to remove him/his team but fans will continue to grow detached from the club which is far worse financially long term.

Andrew Hind

Looks like the only people who have faith in Gio is our board, maybe they are happy for Gio and team to tack the criticism, until AGM

Andrew Mathieson

Gerrard was saved by covid. Unless the board have another pandemic up their sleeves they are on to a hiding to nothing.

Paul

The fans outside the door at Ibrox after another bad result will change the boards mind. Only a matter of time

The Gallant Pioneer

I don’t understand the level of compensation. The manager and his team are failing in there duties 🤔🤷‍♂️💙

GazMac

Great opening 👏🏻 🤣😂

Neil

I feel like just binning Gio won't be enough, especially if it's rushed and the new guy doesn't get resources to rebuild the team. Whoever is in charge, I wouldn't be expecting us to spend much in Jan. Something will have to happen at the board level to change the current trajectory.

Carlos Apicella

Well I'm banned off FF so glad I've got H and H,if IF GIO was a Rangers man at all, he would walk and admit his failure

Heart and Hand

Not legally they aren’t. They have the same employment rights as anyone else. So unless it’s gross misconduct, they need to be paid up the remainder of their agreed contracts or agree a settlement.

Steven Johnston

I’m getting more of a 01/02 advocaat vibe, here’s hoping we can win both cups and go onto a treble next season

Ross Hardie

If Gio wants to get fans back onside, no laughing in the back, his team selection is the first thing to fix. Unlucky with injuries yes, but players out of form still getting picked is on him.

Ryan Stewart

Last time he was spotted was in the picture from the dressing room after we qualified for the CL. Hasn’t been seen or heard of since

Nikky Cairney

Genuinely sickened at what’s going on. Wednesday is going to be toxic, and rightly so.

David Hanlon

He lost a 7 point lead last season, now he is 7 points behind. He will not ever in his wildest dreams turn that around. Thanks for his service but its time to go. And if the board think that he can then they are not the correct people to lead our great club.

chris smith

As long as Gio is there, he - and Wilson - provide firebreaks shielding the board from hostile ‘attention’. The board are - despite the past - ultimately responsible for this shit show

Scott carson

We don’t operate in a vacuum. The board simply waiting and hoping things improve, doesn’t take account of the wider domestic environment. Gerrard was kept but was up against a Celtic team that was faltering (yet still winning, post-Rodgers). They fell apart very quickly when we applied pressure at the start of the 55 season. But that was a new season, both starting from 0 points. Gio isn’t turning around a 7-point deficit against this Celtic team. They just need to be marginally better than us to get the CL, and they are (even before you factor in giving them a 7-point lead). Do we wait until we drop further points either side of WC break, or if we lose the 2nd January game? Make the positive change now. Hate being a club that goes through managers but got to admit this isn’t working and unlikely to change.

Douglas Hannah

We can all see it’s over, players gave up listening to him, Gio himself knows it’s over, but does the Chairman and his board feel likewise, end it before Wednesday please.

Michael Gray

These type of starts by Celtic aren’t uncommon. Nor is their ability to get 90+ points regularly a season. Our consistency out with four or five seasons in past 20 years has not been able to compete with them

Neil 55

Can we all chip in and get Shane a industrial strength laptop cover? 💪 😁

Derek MacMillan

Agreed Michael but 12 wins out of 13 puts them on the way to 106-109 points with that kind of form. Looking at their team then I don't think that's sustainable. Our squad isn't there to compete tho; I'm no fan of the manager but he's been completely short changed off the board with this squad - look at how many of our "sellable" assets can walk away for nothing at the end of the season, it's been badly managed.

Spoon

Great points Derek. There’s no doubt some of the bleak feeling around this is coming from their perceived flair and form but I agree they have potentially over performed. Regardless the huge issue is that we are in no state to put in pressure or take advantage of any slip up. I am mostly still of a mind that the issue this season is the squad management and some individual drop in standards / age but it’s also fair to say the manager isn’t showing much in the way of any glimmer of hope he can turn it around so he probably needs to go. Big question remains, do we upgrade in terms of coaching team and is there investment for real overhauling of a squad that’s badly let itself (and us) down. Not sure the mood music suggests the board have the cash or want to spend in that department and sacking this management team will be costly which must impact overall funds. We could set the football side back years and destabilise the club again.

Tamus

Even Mccoist didn't - he sat in his garden for a year and bled another £1M out the club. These people aren't 'Rangers Men' no matter what the public face is. Their only loyalty is ££££££££

thomas mcewan

If Gio had any dignity he would fall on his sword,he does not have the backing of the fans nor it seems the players, time to go i feel.

Scott Hamilton

Nailed it with the comparison to McLeish at that point.

Martin Davies

Gerrard got a few monkeys off our back - win an OF game, win at Parkhead, qualify for group stage EL, qualify for knockout EL. We had good periods followed by a late post Jan collapse. But I think we seen progression. What I see with Gio is regression. Not a single in form player. No discernable way of playing, awful at set plays in both boxes, questionable team selection, questionable use of subs. And it's bloody boring to watch. We've seen this before with Advocaat, Le Guen, McLeish as they approached the end. When people start talking about a manager having to win the next game to save his job, its already time to make the call - waiting is simply delaying the inevitable. As for the payoff - can we afford not to fire him? We need to have full and complete trust in our manager before we get to the Jan window.

Leslie White

Yes Gio is at the end of the line however don’t let these Amateurish Players get away with it. Not one of them shoot on sight it’s a failing that goes all the way back to Albertz and Ian Ferguson. Corners by the score not one of them swung out to a player to have a shot on goal. Some shots will be deflected, some OGs, and others a screamer. I just wonder if the players are cowards afraid to shoot.

Colin Gardner

The manager will always be the one to lose his job should results go bad however I'm more upset at the players.Their commitment has been shocking and as far as concerned most of them can go with the manager.

Paul Kerr

The board are asleep at the wheel, which seems like a regular occurance. Their stance with an AGM on the horizon just makes more trouble they can avoid. Again, it's a pattern. They constantly dig these holes for themselves.

CJT

...at least the CROpod is back. Need something to make me laugh this week. Can't see the board taking the flack at AGM so Gio away before then so they can prove they're 'listening' 🙄

Steven Harvey

I think we’ll drop another 5 points between now and Saturday afternoon. Everything about the team at the moment is all over the place. Shambolic!

Rose Mcloughlin

David you are so brave to come on and talk when like us you would rather hide under the duvet for a few days..but describing your total disgust makes me laugh as that's how we feel...most fans know this feeling has went on for months not just the last few games...we are dragging ourselves out in hellish weather to sit in misery..ones round about me are ditching some games..I offered my seat to a few friends none took it..this is a poison that is running through our whole club and the board needs to change something quickly..it is definitely the style of football they are playing ..we hate it..the players haven't bought into it ..so that is 100% down to the Manager and coaching staff...please don't let this drag on forever. ..but don't boo the players I hate that even more...whether we like it or not they DO have rangers at heart.

Gary Brown

Thanks for the update David👍😊

Adam

I get the feeling a lot of people are feeling sorry for themselves and allowing themselves to get carried away with dark and foreboding thoughts. It's admittedly pish right now, but football changes quickly. Things can improve with even the smallest of changes. As bad as we are right now both on and off the park, we've been through a helluva lot worse. It's not a total regression, we've got a struggling manager and a side shit out of confidence/form. This is normal football stuff though, there's nothing abnormal about the situation we find ourselves in. I know with our recent past, it's very tempting to get all fatalistic as a means of coping with things, but this happens at pretty much every club involved in the game. We hire a manager, we have our reservations, he does something magic (Seville), wins us a trophy we hadn't won in 13 years and now it's fallen apart. This happens in football. We'll get a new manager and then we'll see where we go from there, all the other stuff at the club is just noise. If we were sitting 7 points clear at the top of the table, nobody would be caring about Park, King, Wilson, Robertson or Club 1872. Recruitment is an issue but that can be solved.

Graham Twycross

Great comment. A bit of objectivity and perspective. Yes we are down as a club. But we have the foundations set. Change of personnel and we will be going again. Hard to hang in there but we must. We live by our standards set over the years and we must again.
