One for Andy in regards to the coming summer. Going on the presumption that we don’t have another Bassey situation where one of our players earns himself a big sale almost out of the blue & generates a few million quid, do you worry about what the transfer budget will look like in the summer, especially with 12 players out of contract & a fair bit of strengthening required.

Colak's domestic form has been "excellent" for the most part - except against Celtic. He was rather anonymous against them and his Champions League group stage form wasn't exactly great. As much as excuses can be made about the poor service for him in those games, he also missed chances and ultimately didn't impress. Can't say I'm surprised Croatia didn't call him up.

Question for Andy. Why do you think the board have chosen to repay loans quickly rather than use the large lump sums to invest in player trading? Secondly, is this a case of we can't because "sevco" and are the board in danger of being too risk averse?

Ross Whitehead

Čolak is a flat track bully. Will get goals against the diddy teams, but tends to struggle against the quality opposition. No surprise to me that he hasn't made the WC squad. Don't get me wrong, I like him, he's just a modern day Boyd.

It really is time Jack concentrated on playing for Rangers

I would like to know what does it look like we would need to bring in each year to make sure we are making money

Allan

Gives me the shudders thinking about the wages being paid for this current squad (and it's probably higher today) and IMHO we are not getting value for money. I'd fully suspect we overpay every time to get people to play in the SPFL.

Hi David, Q for Andy (and you too) re EH- clearly this is a large capital outlay and has led to much criticism of the board wrt the non-investment in the playing squad of late; what are your thoughts on its long-term benefit to the club? Personally I can see match days being reasonably successful in terms of revenue but I am a little less optimistic of what it will bring outside that footfall. Lots of talks of gigs, but I just can’t see a large queue of artists willing to risk using the space in this parochial city we play in when other similar sized venues are available (I know bigger artists have used the stadium but that feels slightly different somehow!). What will make EH stick out from the likes of SWG3 & other similar places? I should say I’m very much in favour of EH, as someone who usually drives up for midweek games from over the border the lack of a decent space and somewhere warm and sheltered to grab a coffee and also soft drinks for my teenage lad is a real bugbear not to mention the image portrayed by the lack of facilities at a club of the size and stature of Rangers.

Graham Roy

Hi David &Andy, I know we don’t like to talk about that lot! However how does our wage bill and operating costs size up to them? Have we closed the gap or is there still a sizeable difference?

David

Do you think that the board have put off a rebuild until the summer thinking that we would have enough in the squad to win the league so they then paid off debt instead of strengthening further

Robert Atkinson

Great pod as usual. Some potential Qs for Andy. 1) has all of the £8.2m in pay off been paid from the latest set of accounts, or just a portion of it? Seems some dubiety here. 2) Were are quoted as paying £14.3m of loans back (hooray), but we’ve borrowed another £12m. So we haven’t paid off that much of the debt after all. Does this mean we still have a big chunk of debt to come out of the Bassey/Aribo money next year? 3) Apparently we spent £8m on players despite Zukowski being the only one that required a transfer fee (£0.5m), has all the other money gone on loan/signing/agent fees?

Lee

To be fair to Gio reacting to those comments, if he hadn't reacted angrily he would no doubt still get shit for being meek or uninspired etc

Spoon

Colak is a class act all round 👏🏻

David Harrison

The sports direct figure was what… 8.6M? I recall our board or Dave king saying the payment to them would be capped at 1M… am I misunderstanding? Seems Ashley got a lot more than what was previously reported.

Accounts looking more positive Turning the ship around Pity we have slipped on the pitch

Legacy issues have hindered us It’s an ongoing struggle

Steven McGill

Laudrup was god on the pitch, but that doesn’t give him carte Blanche to say what he likes and not get a comeback. Gio might be struggling but he’s still the manager of Rangers Football Club and should be respected, especially by someone looking to flog us Gin and overpriced speakers night tickets once a year. Fair play to Gio for being bullish and standing up for himself.

Mark

Does anyone know if we are still due any settlement from Elite?

Gregg

Cash would be this set of accts - through profit and loss may have been provisions to smooth it out. £8m may players from other windows - payments tend to be staggered and paid up. Hence the Paterson fee isn’t all in this set of accts.

David_Davy_Dave

Question for Andy… from a financial fair play perspective does our treatment of merchandise revenue v Celtic recognising gross not give us a buffer from a financial fair play perspective? If needs be couldn’t we just switch and use gross recognition thereby significantly increasing our revenue v the relevant costs?

Chris Brash

What is the £5m deferred income from Parks of Hamilton? Is that to do with Cinch?

Manson44

Question for Andy. When Mark Allen left it was very sudden and I remember you guys saying we would be able to see what was going on if there was a payment made to him. I was wondering if there was any news on this one. And if there was, did it cost us a lot.

Gary Brown

Thanks for the update David 👍😊

Rod

Question for Andy, any thoughts on the somewhat mysterious £5M credit with Parks of Hamilton?

Graham Jones

I thought loans were being converted to equity? I guess the commitment from the board isn’t what it was anymore. It does suggest there will be a bigger move in the transfer window next year. Let’s hope it’s not Ross Wilson making the decisions.

Heart and Hand

Previous loans were yes but in fairness they always said it was to help the club get to a point where it could be self-sufficient. You also can’t keep doing it without breaching FFP. Otherwise Man City and PSG owners would do it continuously.

Charlie Nicolson

I'm a day late listening to this. I'm delighted to hear that report on Antonio Čolak and the match worn shirt. This is a standard of behaviour we should expect from our players. It costs nothing but is a great example to these young fans
