I was at tannadice and in on time to see DJ score and witness the supporters behind me tell John Greig ayr were beating the yahoos,he was right in front of me getting the ball to take a throw and he went “yyesss” and saluted the support with the old clenched fist salute. I know we would beat hearts comfortably in the final as I had seen hearts play montrose in the quarter final at links park and they were awful and took them three games to beat montrose

Gregg

Enjoyed this lads - just reading a book on Jock Wallace and this adds some colour.

Good stuff again some of my ealiest memories and first games this season Dingy Hamilton and cutty young names I had forgot about. Ace of spades -great song it's really a punk number Alan 😉

Alan Bradley

Excellent timing, big Jock without doubt one of our greatest Managers. I know the three of us just loved the man, not to mention the other tens of thousands who followed Gers through that period.

Alan Bradley

Thanks Johnny, as you know I’ve always had a great knowledge of punk, rap, house etc. Not just an old prog rocker 😉

This series brings back so many memories. Couldn't agree more about DJ, what a footballer he was. So many heroes in that Rangers team, and what an amazing season. I remember we lost a few games in the first few months and there were a few grumbles on the terraces, but from Xmas onwards we were brilliant.

Alan Bradley

Agree re DJ and so many legends. Give me an email and we can look at dates to cover 77/78 SSS if you’re still up for it.

Alan Bradley

Thanks David I’ve replied about recording w/c 19th Dec, might have landed in your junk folder? If you let me know what suits, we can firm up on date/time.

David Herd

Can't see any email Alan, not sure what's happened. I'll email you again about dates, most days that week should be fine.

Well done on a great pod, gents. 1975/6 was my first season following the Bears when I was in primary 4 (I think I am 1 year younger than John C). IIRC the turning point was a weekend in April when we beat Dundee 3-0 at Ibrox and that lot lost at Tannadice. It’s uncanny how often we have clinched the title at Tannadice - 1976, 1990, 1997, 2009. Interesting to hear John C remark how rivalry could coexist with respect in those days, as opposed to the feral vitriol so common nowadays. Thanks for a super pod 👍
