Mbappe won me some money as top scorer - my only successful bet, in a tournament of surprises!

I take Martyn's general point about the CL being the pinnacle in terms of quality. Yet hasn't there been a general sense of ennui about the CL in recent years? And that, of course, is how a Super League would turn out as well. So I don't think a WC should be dismissed so lightly as 'amateur' tbh.

Martyn Ramsay

I’d disagree that there has tbh. From the knock-outs on, the CL has been exceptional for years now. Group stage has its issues of course. All international football has an amateur feel to it. Very emotional and flags. Provides good telly to to the causal viewer but the quality isn’t remotely comparable IMHO

Dougie Jones

Maybe not but 'quality' can sometimes lead to a technically proficient yet underwhelming stalemate, no? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of 'basketball' type matches either. Would you be in favour of a Super League / NFL type arrangement? There *has* to be jeopardy in my opinion or the game's a bogey.

Messi played with the spirit of Maradona

Gregg

Well done lads - thanks for all the content, really enjoyed it

Rona Bluebell

Martinez plays for Villa, Beale coached him, so using football arithmetic- we’ve won the World Cup (sort of) 😀

Gordon Mac

Great work lads think I've listened to every episode 👏 👍

Steven

Great work guys. I listened to every show and it's been brilliant.

I was disappointed in the lack of sell outs for the matches, i realise though thats because of where it was held.

Colin Mathie

I think they'll change it back to 32 teams, there will be so much backlash they'll have no choice but to do that.
