First rule of fishing - brilliant 😂😂

Roy Gemmell

Superb work all year from the three of you, each preview is a must listen for me. Keep it going for 2023 and here’s hoping rangers make the start of it a cracker by skelping them

John Palmer

Hopefully they show respect for our 66 but I won't hold my breathe

James McConnachie

“What does success look like?” Kev - it’s winning the league. Anything else isn’t Rangers. I’m with Stevie on the recruitment issue. 7 out of 10 decent signings isn’t a massively high hit rate. Celtic turned over their squad in one window. If we can’t deal with their spending then we’ll have accept second place every year. Strategically, there’s two choices - firstly, find a way with a smaller budget or secondly generate more revenue. They built the Meccanodome to out income generate us. Strategically, we are playing safe when in the 90s they didn’t.

Russ

I'll be honest lads I'm a bit sheepish with our chances. The feeling isn't as bad as before the night game last season but still, we can't pass for toffee at the minute. Cheers for putting in the graft for us this past year, love the dynamic you boys have.

John Smith

I’m going to call this right now and if I’m wrong, feel free to laugh at me, but I reckon Mick has the beating of Ange. 3-1 victory on Monday

Angus Mackay

Alex Staff, as ever, the voice of sanity in terms of transfers and expectations. Thanks for the pod guys and all the great listening throughout the year. A long time since we've gone in against *that lot* with such low expectations, so I'll settle for 2-1 :-)

Gordon Watson

Agreed. What annoys me is we found that strategic sweet spot with 55, then at the critical moment we let Gerrard go (by not backing him), got our recruitment wrong under Gio, and they shot past us again. It was a massive opportunity missed. And here we are today. Immediately after 55, we should’ve pushed the boat out and taken the risks to stay ahead and keep them second. I know Andy McGowan has spelled out some concrete financial analysis as to why that wasn’t a good idea and I always respect what he’s got to say but it’s frustrating nevertheless after having a spell lording it over them.

Alex Bryce

I'm usually criticized for being too positive, and I called it the worst 3-0 gers win I'd ever seen! :)

Gavin Sullivan

I have to disagree with 50% hit rate being realistic. If we're paying £3m for a player, they should be more than capable of hurting the vast majority of teams in our league. Any player we sign should be of a greater level than the vast majority of the teams we're up against.

Douglas Innes

I'm not taking a pop at Gordon's comment above but had we not sold Bassey/Aribo or qualified for CL group stages I shudder to think where Rangers finances would be so pushing the boat out on the back of 55 wouldve been reckless , maybe had the Morelos fee been accepted ( widely suggested Gerrard didn't want to lose him or Kent ) maybe the funds mightve been there for Gerrard...... its like this January window we have a large squad so i can't see anyone coming in unless it's a deal we can't turn down Ps, 2-0 Rangers

Bob MacCallum

Celtic can out-spend us continually but doesn't matter IF we beat all the jobbers ( whom we out-spend) in our league every time. That's the problem - dropping points to the Dundee Uniteds of the league.

stefan strzelecki

Think the reason maeda is chosen above Jota is to pre exhaust defences. Then he comes on to impact the games later on. I hope we can press them high in the first phases of the match, we have the clinical strikers to hurt them at these moments. This will be how we get what we want from the game. Really enjoyed the pod guys. Well done. 🇬🇧Like everyone else , I can’t relax from this game. Won’t get a sleep.

Jimmy Price

FFS!! Let Steven speak when he’s trying to make a point. Instead of talking over him. I want to hear ALL points of view, not just Staff Snr’s lol. And Steven’s correct about the recruitment. 70% success is not unattainable.

Kev Armstrong

To be fair to strider we had some recording issues and it may have thrown him out of sync

Mark

Yeah was obviously a synch issue. Btw I think it was Gary Mc who took the 1-0 game in 2021

Graeme McLeod

It does matter though. Celtic lost one league game in 2022 - and it was to St. Mirren. Ange being a comedic figure to us is long since past. He's got a very good record against the entire league after a dodgy start, and even if we could somehow beat the rest of the league easily we'd still need a team that can compete against Celtic on the field. And when one of our best signings over the last three transfer windows remains Fashion Sakala? Yeah, I'm not holding my breath for Ross Wilson suddenly being able to recruit players good enough to walk into our starting lineup - which we need - and perform against that mob. And that's pretty much a major part of his remit.

Fraser Dobbie

The summer window was a disaster, no two ways of looking at it. Same as the January before it and summer previous to that. We’re still looking to Jack and Kamara in midfield, we’re still looking to a well past if Alan McGregor, we’ve not been able to address the right forward issue in years. We’re taking too many gambles on cheap players / players that are injury prone or shit out of form in the hope they can get better. It’s not working.

Jamie Gourlay

Nothing personal but Striders views are well off. A new version of no surrender! Such low standards and expectations. I couldn't sit next to him at games 😄

Graeme Macpherson

Listening to this now. Strider is absolutely spot on as usual. Thing is, we're not even giving players 20-25 games. Matondo has played under 900 mins (10 games) and has 5 assists. Before coming to us, he had decent success as a left inside forward. My question would be why take someone who plays well in that position and decide he is to play as a right winger? Ridvan being written off is madness. Young guy, moving abroad, no language skills etc. Looked good when he did appear, then tore his hammy. Hardly a failure. As for 3m+ signings, we were spending 3m+, along with 40k a week wages on players 25 years ago and still didn't win everything.

Pedro

Shalke got Matondo out on loan as soon as they could and were happy to get 25% of what they paid for him. There's a reason for that. We'll make a similar loss. Unreal if anyone thinks he should be getting a run of games. Not met a single fan who thinks that tbh
