Martyn, Adam and Ally are back after the break to begin the second half of their run-through of the squad's tactical makeup.

  • What are they good at?
  • What are their weaknesses?
  • How do we mitigate those?
  • How do they fit into the tactical style?
  • What other qualities would we want in a new recruit?

Excellent stuff. I found the 'midfield personalities' thing did indeed add an extra dimension.

Not sure I’ve ever heard a more succinct description of Ryan Jack and his role / limits within a Rangers team than Ally’s. Absolutely spot on sir 👍

Lundstram is wasted as a holder imo, way more suited to the box playing number 8 role, he'd score more.

Great point about personality required from Ally there; it’s such a tough place to play and when you are a risk taker knowing that you will get pelters for 2 or 3 passes not working requires very broad shoulders. And yes, perhaps there is too much agreement- you could consider inviting someone on who counters with “naw he’s pish” every now and again to make it a more authentic Rangers experience!

Great show. Thanks Martyn, Adam & Andy.

Great show gents, would be interesting to know why we have all known for some time we need more goals from middle to front but year on year we seem unable to get anyone who can consistently add to the numbers. We get told a lot guys coming like a shot at times but very few seem to shoot in games. Same critique applies to the forwards, the one guy we have who will shot is Arfield and sadly his strike rate isn’t that good, no denying he has scored some crucial ones though. Enjoyed the discussion as always👏🏻

Craig

I'm 100% using that bit about him not being able to take possession on the turn on my da, he'll be so impressed.

great show with a good insight into how modern day midfield positions are explained , under Gerrard we often played Jack Davis Kamara which i personally disliked as i thought it was 3 midfielders doing the job you'd expect 2 midfielders to do especially domestically and i basically thought it left us 1 player short in an attacking sense .

Absolutely top tier podcasting, guys. A tremendous listen. This is what makes H&H hit different. Really well done.
