They’re going to wait until midnight on deadline day aren’t they 😅

That time of the day again 💪 home time

This Raskin thing is just getting silly now IF it is still us that are fannying around … PS ‘tune’!!!

James McConnachie

I’m getting a bad vibe about this Raskin transfer. Rangers manage to drag the arse out of every transfer nowadays. As it stands with the team needing a top to bottom rebuild we’ve signed a Norwich City reserve - another project player. If we are ‘waiting until the summer’ to buy players, a small word of caution; 4 of the ones we bought last summer are injured and the other is Matondo. We not only cede this season and cups but next season as well.

stephen

Looking forward to the picture of Raskin with the scarf held above his head, if only to get some fucking sleep. Transfer windows age me.

Allan Rutherford

The last bit of the Raskin deal to be done could be the work permit hence why he hasn’t arrived yet. Striker for the summer could be Ben Brereton Diaz, Blackburn unlikely to let him go now and available on a free.

Ross

I'm not happy with the Raskin deal, but purely based on the fact that we spend good money on a player we could have had in 5/6 games ago. He'll miss Wednesday night which is 6/7 games and he's a month behind where he could have been.

Colin Gardner

Norwich City reserve? He was their top performer when they were in the Premiership and top end clubs sniffing about him.Maybe frozen out lately for whatever reason but he's not a reserve player.

David Gardner

Happy we’ve got Raskin deal done Big questions over the woman’s team, the league is now done and that will mean 1 league tittle in 3 years. The woman’s team is supported by sponsorship, prize money, match day revenue/woman season tickets and the rest will be stumped up from the fans from season ticket money. This is a level we should and need to win the league, as the woman’s game only make good returns on European football. Malky Thompson needs to be held to the same standards as any other rangers manager - he’s currently 3rd in a 3 horse race? … not good enough and we’re not seeing a return for our investment with 1 league in 3.

Graeme Brough

Think the big hint that is going unspoken just now is what Beale said re. Loans going back early. Sounds like quite a clear indication that Sands could be moving on this window if it can be agreed.

James McConnachie

He was playing in their reserves. Two year old form is just that - history. Francis Jeffers et al. Time will tell if he’s a wise transfer but if a punt is our only transfer of the window, that’s an issue. We have to be 20:20 on this.

Gary Shaw

It’s amazing how every bear and their dug seem to know so much about this Raskin fella…I’ve even heard that people remember him from the game at Ibrox 😂..utter bollocks,he played 19 minutes ffs 🤦‍♂️ …it’s not a dig at anyone in particular on here,as I’ve heard it on multiple podcasts,FF etc….the way the heat map geeks are going on about him,I’m expecting a cross between Barry Ferguson and Gascoigne 😂

Heart and Hand

Easy to watch him now tbf. Adam’s sooperdooper stats geek website has about forty games of his on it…

Martin Davies

We needed to sign players like Cantwell and Raskin now for the reasons outlined by Adam. But also, we don't want Bosmans rocking up in July who were frozen out by their previous club and haven't kicked a competitive ball for 6 months. We need our players to hit the ground running when the 23/24 season starts.

Ross

I know, it's like buying a rain coat on the last day of winter and saying "well at least I have it for next winter".

Gregg

Francis Jeffers was a busted flush who had a serious injury. If can’t we’ll was still in the same form as two years ago he’s not signing for us nor is he playing for Norwich.

Gregg

Trying to play hard ball the seemingly capitulating isn’t a good look. That said I’m glad we seem to be getting him in

James McConnachie

Or…the period of good form he had was the outlier and the last two years is more representative ala Kamara. I may well be wrong but the fact we are discussing it shows there’s question marks. Question marks we could well be pinning a season on. Put it this way, IF Hibs had taken him on loan would we be going ‘ooo better watch him - he could take points off us”? I doubt it.

Pedro

It can be two things at once can't it? That we need a midflieder of quality in as a priority and happy to get Rashkin in. AND feel that a 2 mil euro fee and 20% sell on isn't good given that he has 6 months left. Not everything has to be a win win regardless. I agree the urgency makes the positives outweigh the negatives here.

Gregg

There’s questions marks over any signing - to a greater or lesser degree. Sure we could have brought in a guy playing but likely less upside. Looking on the positives and wishing the chap well until he proves otherwise works better for me tbh.

James McConnachie

Totally with you there regarding wishing the boy well and I hope he does us proud. However, optimism wins nothing and realism wins titles the Rangers way. We’ve been asked to be optimistic on far too many players recently.

Heart and Hand

This is the reality of transfers now. We will never sign finished articles again. The financial disparity in football means that.

Heart and Hand

As I say, I think we have an unrealistic expectation of what ‘six months left’ equates to cost-wise these days.

James McConnachie

I’m not sure I agree with that. I’ll explain why though because I’m always right - 60% of the time. We don’t need finished articles in Scotland (Tav isn’t a finished article) - even project players in England go for tens of millions. We need people who can do a particular job in a particular team that are hungry. We seem obsessed with certain markets and I’m not sure if that’s down to agents (Belgium and England) - there’s bargains to be had elsewhere on the planet as Celtic unfortunately have shown but you have to prepared to take a look and think outside the box. We’re rolling the dice on projects - once again - when most of the players they are signing are on an upward trajectory and well on the way to finished article status. Hence the fact they are skooshing the league and running a proper player trading model. If we are accepting a financial disparity with that mob we can expect to win 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 titles - basically become a Scottish Feynoord. Beale’s Lucky Ange comments had alarms bells going. Could be mind games or it could be a tentative version of the The White Flag of Gio that we got after the first Ajax game. Livi have a financial disparity with just about everyone else but compete because they have a clear strategy and shrewd manager. It’s not pretty but the majority of Walter’s teams weren’t - the silverware sure was though. We also, at time of writing, seem to have largely abandoned signing Scottish players for a fee. If the financial disparity means we can’t outgun Hellas Verona or Watford we have a bigger problem than we think. Shankland - will never be the all round striker but will nab you 20+ goals per season. If I was to risk assess the transfer I’d have said it was low. We could have signed him for peanuts in the summer and loaned him out if it wasn’t working. Same could be said for Nisbet but by the cut of his jib I’d say he’ll not sign for us ever. England is a mentally inflated market though. A good season in Holland and you’re drag and dropped to Bournemouth for 30 million. Same with the French league. To use a dodgy metaphor we’re raking through the bargain cassettes in the same Woolies that the big boys shop in. We need to go to niche record store or form our own band. This will mean fuck all to the streaming generation btw. Stevie Clifford has a good view on this subject and the way we approach transfers. It’s been a bit of an essay and I know it comes across as negative but I genuinely feel we are too passive in the market. We’ve snobbishly said we want good technical players who can play possession based football. Great stuff but we have struggled to break down teams for 5 years and have won 2 bits of silverware. That’d indicate that the philosophy and the player profile has not really worked. The question for Rangers should always be - what do we need to win? We don’t need to be a price marked version of Liverpool. Let’s do something a bit different. Right I’ve locked myself in the toilet long enough.

Gregg

So to sum up - you’re not growing your hair out, dying it blonde and getting an Alice band?

Heart and Hand

I don’t disagree with much of that - we definitely do need to look outside the same leagues we stick to - but they’ll still include project players because we need to sell a few every so often. The reason we’ve had so many recently is we’re playing catchup for doing no squad building across last four windows.

David Ross

Thank you so to my neice/goddaughter Rachel Mathers for the lovely shout out and thank you David for reading it out. To answer your question, yes I was slightly disappointed that I didn’t get to meet Super Ally😂😂😂
