And this is definitely the end. Martyn, David, Andy and Alan were joined by many listeners for a discussion and q&a to cover all the bases as we say goodbye to the greatest era there ever was.

Thank you for the support. Don't forget to buy the books.

Listened to the last 3. Brilliant listen so suppose I better go back to the start and listen to the lot. Cheers guys.

Martin Boyd

It’s been a brilliant series brought back some great memories. Martyn , dismissing the recession so glibly is wrong it affected the working class more as it was a recession of the industrial base. Working class were the backbone of football support in Scotland so crowds sunk.

Martyn Ramsay

No, that’s a fair point overall although it doesn’t really account for why Celtic had on average over 4,500 more per game than us between 79-83. Point was more about the legacy of glory periods sustaining the feeling of supremacy during later fallow periods and got lost in cul-de-sacs as is our wont!

Tom McDavid

Wonderful series guys. Thank you all. Tuesday mornings will never be the same again 😂

Max Power

It has been an excellently thought out and delivered show. Thank you to Martyn and all the show contributors.

Martin Boyd

Folk will turn out if the teams winning money will be found. As an Ayrshire boy we always had more travelling from outwith Glasgow I always thought of them as a more local team whereas we were country wide. By the way “No paseran” 😂

Johnnie Mitchell

Two great minds and all that. Exactly what I was going to say. Thanks for a brilliant series everyone 😞👍🏻

Alan Bradley

Was same from Lanarkshire and no doubt other parts of the country. Even through the barren times, whilst attendances dropped in the latter part of the season, buses still ran to games. Albeit with fewer numbers on board. Suspect G postcode fans would have dropped proportionately too during those times.

Stewart Thomson

Loved the series, looking forward to what you come up with next Martyn

john cowden

I think two points to be made , they had success 79-83 more than any other club. Our average attendance would be affected by stadium reconstruction. Would be curious what average is without old firm games for both of us. They would be taking 50-60k per old firm game whereas we would 33-45k ? Makes a difference . But to be honest hope was in short supply in last days of Greig and it showed. Wallace breathed some life back into us (look at attendances )

Alex Dingwall

It was a brilliant series Martin. The very first episode was just so insightful about the level of detail when Souness was appointed and I was gripped right through to this episode. Thanks for your excellent work and for the contributions from the rest of the podders. 👍

Mark

Martyn, you are one outrageously talented chap.

George Gair

Great show covering a period of massive change in football. Any details on the 2 books? Titles and prices please!👍

Martyn Ramsay

Thanks all again for the kind comments. It really is appreciated that we created something that found the correct audience. Book one ‘Revolution: 1986-92’ should be be out in March and if I get my finger out in time then book 2 should be out for Xmas. No title yet for that. 110,000 words done but I can’t think of one for the cover… Should retail between £14.99 - £16.99 as the length is right on the cusp for the publisher but that’s their call ultimately. Pre-orders shouldn’t be long now!

Gregg

Cheers Martyn that was excellent from start to finish

John Walker

Simple answer as John says is that they were more successful but I'll bet you'll find we always took more to away games.

Rob Shorthouse

The whole thing was absolutely sensational, Martyn.

Graeme Duncan

Thanks gents my Tuesday mornings will be lacking a little something now. Cheers 💙

George Higgins

Great show but couldn’t make out what Callum’s question and Martyn’s answer was with about six mins to go. David got quite excited at the answer. Anyone know ?

Michael Gray

The work done on this series is unparalleled, Martyn. Whether in fan or mainstream media content. As Sir Alex would say, you should be vewy pwoud! The series will be shared widely with my unstaunch non Patreon friends when made freely available in March. Can’t wait for the books!

Mark Irvine

Thank you Martyn and the other podders. Wonderful listen. Cant wait for your next series. Keep it up mate.

Fraser Black

Agree with the guys saying Tuesdays just won’t be the same! Great sign off episode as well would have loved to ask you my own questions but couldn’t make the live episode. Given me a fantastic insight into my childhood team & what a time to be alive. Watching some of the 97-98 games back, I was quite surprised how much Thern played. I had in my memory he was basically injured the majority of the season & made a sensational return for that goal at Ibrox. I’d also say, a midfield 3 of Ferguson, Gio & Gattuso under Advocaat could have been a real European force for us, but hey ho . . Thanks again Martyn look forward to the next project 🫡

Bob MacCallum

Rather than " unsung heroes" I ponder more on the what might have beens in the shape of players like Kuznetsnov, Prodan, Rozanthal, Mols, Negri.

Alan Y

Consistently incredible content. Amazing series. Well done to all.

Mark

From the footage I have been able to find pre-injury, Rozenthal looked a bit similar to Alfredo. Thrived in chaos, used his body to to spin defenders. I think he would have have been a good fit for us.

Gary Brown

It was a very different time. Mass unemployment. Regular strikes with significant wage losses. A financial society where there was little or practically no credit, certainly No credit cards (plural) in every wallet. Folk spent only what they could earn - an entirely alien concept to anyone who did not live through it! Not spending money you dont have on a very poorly performing team is not such an obscure concept in those circumstances. Me? As schoolboy £5pw wage from a paper run. £2.60 train from deepest South Lanarkshire to Central. 40p Underground. £1.50 Boys gate. 50p pie OR programme. As Alan said it was ALL about going to see The Rangers and supporting them!

Gary Brown

Thanks ever so much for this post script pod Martyn and all the regular contributors Alan, Andy, David (& John). This is a phenomenal body of work guys. You should all be immensely proud of it. Gutted I couldn't join the live event. But I'll ask my question now, chance my arm for a response - 1992/93, Souness still manager. Do we win the big one? Tuesdays won't be the same but looking forward to hearing your next project Martyn.

Martyn Ramsay

No, we don’t. Souness didn’t have too much longer left in him by April 1991 and, furthermore, the fundamental reason for that successful season - the extent of that team spirit - was not something that he could have created. Now, what difference a group stage would have made to his earlier attempts is an interesting question but the same weaknesses would have no doubt remained a key factor. Thank you btw, for the regular feedback. It’s been an enjoyable community to provide something for.

Gary Brown

Thanks Martyn. Great to get your definative view but not unexpected given the discussions during those episodes. Mainly asked as I dont recall it being a specific question during those shows. Credit where credit is due. It has been a joy and a privilege to listen to the series. Phenomenal. I can't imagine the work involved in your research, analysis for relevant points which involke discussion from the guys, nevermind recording & presenting for broadcast. This is such amazing work expertly covering not merely an amazing era in Rangers football history but also the 'how & why' it became so, due to the seismic changes in world football, social & economic influences of those times. You have provided the most important thing of all for the listener / reader of any subject - context. Superbly done Sir! And once again Thank You.

Iain Wells

The best podcast I’ve ever listened to. What a rollercoaster it was. Congratulations on a fine body of work which made me feel elated, emotional and old.

Kev Roberts

Martyn congratulations on this series I have just finished it for the 2nd time and will now order both books. Also thanks all at the H&H team for all the great content. I am off to listen to the Advocat shows WATP
