So Ally had left but someone had to take the reins and, seemingly under duress, that man was Kenny McDowall. A farcical AGM demonstrated the contempt the owners had for Rangers fans as Mike Ashley and his placemen fought desperately to keep hold of the club from the Three Bears. Results on the pitch mirrored the off-field crisis with a particularly dismal loss at Easter Road summing it all up.

Join Dave, David, Stuart and Rob as they chart the interregnum between Ally leaving and the good guys taking over.

Ahh, the AGM with the gazebo. That’s a day I’ll never forget. Can still remember how 🥶 I was that day

Ross Thomson

Sad end for McDowall. Highly rated coach when Walter brought him in. Has he ever worked in football since then? Haven't seen or heard from him since.

The spin off none of us needed 😂 will still listen tho

John Smith

The bit where Sandy Easdale got up and spoke, I almost felt he had a very brief epiphany of just how awful him and his pals had been. There was a sorrow in his voice as if to say “is this really what I am ?” And then he decided that “aye that’s exactly what I am”

Jamba

Cheers boys. Weans greeting noo 🤣

Graham Roy

Probably the best thing that board never appointed a manager! Can you imagine who that would have been! 😳

Johnnie Mitchell

FFS I think we all need therapy after that episode. Well played lads for seeing it through.

That UFO Podcast

**shudders** remember it all too well. I had moved to the North East of England at this time from Glasgow and still travelled to games. Some LONG journeys

Rod

It never gets spoken about but Lambias said at the podium that day "We have Kenny now to the end of the season and hopefully beyond", they actually planned on trying to keep him long term. Shudder.

Craig

We've had some low low low points in the last decade, but that game at Hibs is near the very bottom of the abyss. I'd managed to kid myself on that Kenny might have had a few ideas of his own that Ally didn't agree with, but as soon as I saw the line-up that day I knew nothing would change. And then it got worse!

Rod

On McDowell, was it fair to force someone to do a job they didn't want to do, he didn't sign up to be manager, he wasn't contracted to be manager? In any other walk of life you can't force a promotion on someone, they are entitled to say "no thanks, I'm happy doing what I'm doing, you'll need to find someone else".

Rod

Fair enough, I don't know football contracts. If my work said to me, "your not an analyst anymore, your now director of analytics". I would be telling them, I'm not qualified for that level of roll and won't be doing it and they wouldn't be able to force me to.

Jude W

Really interesting show guys, thank you. Difficult to go over I'm sure, but thoroughly interesting.

Mark

McDowall's tenure put me in mind of old scenes where the Speaker would be dragged into the House of Commons

Ian Milne

They put the gazebo for the AGM in the away end as well you would’ve thought they opposite corner would’ve been more fitting seeing that the Ibrox Suite was up there and you could have shareholders in for tea, coffee and refreshments before and after. Isn’t till I hear you guys talking that I actually realise how bad they were.

Neil Wilson

Have you thought of a name for the Warburton period? Warburton's Way?

Andrew Meldrum

Was trying to remember all the people in the gazebo that day. Was this Malcolm Murray's tenure? Still staggered he tried to get himself on the board of Club 1872 last year.

Ross Matheson

If ever a song epitomised a show, it's one that comes off the back of years of drug abuse while suffering the comedown, sounds like a schizophrenic breakdown in its intro, screams of panic and has a feeling of being lost to the point where you might commit Seppuku. "I've nothing to lose, nothing to gain" indeed!

Martin Boyd

One of the few pods I have to listen to in a couple of sittings , thankfully the blood pressure meds seem to work😂 As for Somers hope he has a long horrible end.

Gary Brown

This episode title: Out of the frying pan, into the fire! Thanks again guys for your enduring dedication to this series.

Niall MacKay

With this following a day after Dominant, the last few weeks have been a bundle of joy, eh? Almost like a reenactment of the sorest boots you've ever taken to the goolies. Even though we've come so far since the darkness described here, it still just doesn't feel like we are back where we belong yet. We have so far to go to get that swagger back. Teams still come to Ibrox hoping to get something out of games, that's not on!

Gary Shaw

Sorry lads but I’ve not listened to this be mmm

Paul Dunnachie

I had very tragic circumstances in my personal life at this point and to be honest, usually Rangers has been a distraction in times of difficulty or upset like that. Over the tail end of 2014, I have next to no recollection of these matches that have been discussed. Some of the off the field carry-on I do remember but couldn’t have guessed a date for when they happened. A very strange period, between personal situation, football and the Independence Referendum it felt like just about everything that mattered to me was under attack at that point.

Gordon Smith

Man was a thug of a player. Absolute disgrace that should have been banned from the game. His attitude to being Manager was just as bad. No respect for the fans or club. It’s almost like he was an ex-Celtic coach. Worst period in our history.
