Utter shitshow. Beale shat the bed with that line up. Pig sick.

Greg

Are we still giving Kent whatever he wants to stay?

james whyte

Manager set us up to fail. Thats what happens when you hire a manager who hasnt managed before. A disgrace. Tav, Goldson etc keep saying you get judged on trophies. You do lads, and yous are fucking terrible at it. Brutal. The first 30 mins nobody took any responsibility to do anything of substance. Just hoofed it. Sick.

Gary Shaw

An absolute shambles from start to finish….They had more desire and commitment all over the park….Lundstram was towing a caravan and Tillman just constantly wants too much time on the ball…our “best” period came after they made it 2-0 and that was only down to them clearly taking the foot off the gas…my blood is still boiling at the thought of us trying to pass the ball today….Hopeless

Paul

Beale shat it. Going by a performance against Hearts, yes the mighty Hearts to justify that team selection! The man is a contradiction, says he wants to sign starters then doesn't start them. On him and his loyalty. Ps Sakala - Back it up or shut your mouth

Elaine Campbell

Absolutely sick of our captain ummmmming his way through the post match interview after every big game that his team bottle giving apologies to the fans for not being good enough and for not putting the effort in. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT THEN !! We don’t want to hear it any more James.

Scott Tolmie

I’ll always remember this as the Michael Beale final, he had an absolute nightmare

Gavin

Beale with a terrible team selection and Sakala don’t even get me started. I wouldn’t play him in our B team, he actually has zero football ability and continues to trip over his own feet. You need more than pace to play for Rangers or certainly you should. Celtic didn’t need to get out of Third gear to get 2-0 up.

Stewart Robertson

I think I speak for everyone when I say - "I have to go to work tomorrow." Does Michael Beale and the players have any idea the shit I am going to have to take tomorrow ?

Gary Newlove

Beale's decisions with kamara and lundstrum being our best midfield pairing has fucked with my reality. Gutted.

Gavin

He was very poor today, these are the days that the premium big salary players need to show up and he was along with many others awful.

Mark Rennie

This is why you don't make stupid comments during the week to the media leading up to 1 of these games

aldo adens

That today was on Beale JL and GK and MT in a midfield 3 1 who has hardly kicked his own backside in past 18 months and 2 who have struggled for fitness in build up to this final through injury. Yet he picked them and they were over ran and for 60 mins untill he brought raskin on we made there midfielders look like worldbeaters. The half hearted approach we have had in every game under Beale apart from away at tyncastle was always going to come back and cost us and unfortunately it did against that lot.

Boston Bear

Where to start… the whole week has been wrong - between the UB banner last weekend, Sakala interview which was backed up with a sub-par performance, holding a Hall of Fame ceremony mid season for 3 current players to the managers team selection and first half tactics.

Jamie Kirk

Firstly. Love you as our manager. Will back you to the hills. “When we showed for energy and intensity in the game Celtic were more uncomfortable” We fans, cry out for this week in week out. Because what a shock, whenever we play with pace, urgency and intensity we mostly do well. Against anyone! But we never bring it to the game. We need a half time “honest conversation” You say we present what we do on the training field to the games? If true are you happy with training? Because we are laboured. Even when we win. We are passive. Slow. Negative. Hesitant. And we all know we are better than that. Are you overthinking it? And what is the deal with the long balls. Count the long balls from goldson today. Useless, hopefull balls. Thought we were a one touch passing team? We take so many touches. We hoof it. You need to have an honest conversation with yourself. Nobody has demanded the urgency and standards of performance since walter smith. Gerrard did it for 1 season

james whyte

Beale saying "Thats on me. We learn and need to go again" Fuck me. Gerrard inside him? Im furious. A midfield with legs gets at them and matches them where its needed. Instead plays Lundstrum who has been dreadful and not fit and Kamara who doesnt want to be here. If your playing Tillman who was touch an go then fine. You dont also play an unfit Lundstrum. Too risky. Fuck sake. So annoyed. Again.

The Gallant Pioneer

Lundstrum is the biggest earner at the club not good enough

Jamie

Raskin must be wondering what the fuck..appalling and strictly on Beale.

John leitch

We lost the midfield Kamara and Lundstrum were poor Raskin should have started

Ally Mair

Terrible selection how raskin doesn’t start ahead of lundstrum is baffling then to not even make that change at half time is disgraceful, sick of this we owe the fans we are sorry bullshit go out and do sumthing about it then . Winners win losers fucking lose that’s the bottom line …. I will repeat winners win losers lose !!

Simon Botterill

Beale is fully accountable today. Club success was built on winners/animals/leaders through the middle of the park from Goram, Butcher, Gough to Fergusons to Hatley characters who could play but above everything owned the pitch they stood on, at least domestically. One thing the fans have demanded above anything else in the last ten years is a change in mindset to what it means to be a Rangers player, players willling to cross the white line and strive to win at any cost not contain. If Beale has not learnt that fron his time with Rangers, than he will not be the right man. We want agression, we want hunger and fight. Over to you Beale.

Euan Dover

That decision from Beale re midfield is a real sinker - speaks volumes about his approach to management.

David Bold

I have not listened to the pod yet, but will offer my opinion anyway. I want Beale gone. He signed players who were not trusted to play in the biggest game Rangers have played since Seville.

Alan Murdoch

Wrong team selection cost us the game.

KAD87

He’s made a mistake and lost one game. Today wasn’t good enough but asking for him to be gone is a bit much imo

Alan Cowan

And he's one of the biggest culprits. Back pass after back pass, drawing the air out of any counter attack. Time's up for both Tav and Barasic among others

KMS

Manager got the team wrong then dithered too long to make the changes that were glaring, a total shitshow from him today, his decisions cost us

John Mackay

Malik hasn’t turned up in a big game? Eindhoven away the single biggest game of the season. He definitely turned up in that game

Jamie Kirk

I’m worried this is warburton the second. A non professional footballer who’s learned how to manage in the class room following the English fa handbook and webinars. Like warburton, a good talker, but doesn’t have that instilled ex footballing brain needed to fight in this league and to match the demand of the supporters and expectations. Advocaat wasn’t successful overall. He was a poor footballer. Warburton failed over all. The only ones who have done well are ex professionals like Souness, smith and let’s remember Smith is a once in a lifetime. Just like mourinho and klopp etc. they are exceptions. Beale a classroom manager and that worries me

Rona Bluebell

Sore one today but excellent summary from you all. Just frustrating. Still rather be part of our tribe than anyone else’s. 💙

Very Good Joinery

H&h masturbate lyrically about him. He costs rangers time and time again in the big games. A terrible trophy hall and cup final record for him at rangers

Brian Rae

"The squad isn't as broken as some(fans) make out." now he's saying that it's "days like these that make you realise how big the job is." which is it Micheal? I despise gobshites and talk is extremely cheap at our club. Today is on him and his undroppable clique. 64 minutes before he made the first sub! Alarm bells are ringing.

David Campbell

Haven't listened yet. Team selection is on beale the but more alarming was the lack of fitness and that's on GVBs staff. Beale got the midfield wrong but the lack of energy etc from the team overall was shocking. That said it should've been 1 - 1 just after HT in big games you can't miss the chance Sakala did and expect to win the game. Gutted doesn't do how am feeling justice tbh. I can't wait for this season to be over.

Dougie Grant

Scunnered.I'll be in a bad mood all week....

Craig

Lundstrum and Kamara will hopefully move on in the summer. Beale made a huge error of judgement trusting them today. Kamara looking especially passive on such a big game. Should be on the bench for the rest of the season and brought on when games are won and the pace suits his level of application.

Simon Botterill

Absolutely. It was cowardly from Beale today and thought we were past that. It was ok to be brave, arrogant if anything and lose but not that. Play Raiskin, put Tillman in his proper position, make changes. Be bold.

Bob MacCallum

Beale's first real test as manager and he fucked it up - due to bottle. He crapped it. I ( and all around me at Hampden) were saying we'd had it as soon as we saw the team. Lundstram AND Kamara but no Raskin was an obvious mistake. Raskin has been our best player in previous games, a breath of fresh air, ideal against that mob and he starts on the bench. Last week a podder suggested this would be the case and I added a comment saying I'd be shocked and FURIOUS if he didn't start. Imagine how incandescant I am now! He's like most managers - talks big, sounds genuine but cautious when the chips are down. Told us all Raskin and Cantwell were bought to go straight into the team. Both making an impact, loved by the fans but scaredy-cat Beale plays safe with the same old, same old - Lundstram( terrible game) and Kamara who have let us down again and again. Meanwhile the 2 exciting players come off the bench once we're 2 down! Add persevering with Morelos trundling about and looking lost, all 3 should have been subbed at halftime - not at 0-2. When Raskin came on he was our best guy, making Beale's decision even more absurd. Shocking 1st half display. Gave them all the space and time in the world. You'd think we'd never seen them play before. It'll be a long time before I trust Beale again. I'd better see an apology in tomorrow's papers. He has a lot to prove. Next game at Parkhead, if he starts like that, once again, we'll be 3 or 4 down at halftime. Please ask him about the Raskin decision at next presser.

David Innes

Was worried before the game Sakala’s comments would blow up in his face - a long way back for him now.

William George Bell

It’s time for the Captain, Lundstrum, Kamara, Barisic, Goldstone to be let go. Serial losers. Great at excuses especially the Captain.

David Innes

Sickens me to say it but when it comes to mentality they are streets ahead of us just now

Craig Newton

Gio might as well still be here.. At least we’d save some cash imo

Gregg

Did postecoglu have a good career in semi pro football?

dotty 84

Played it safe and it screwed us as per usual. 2 goals from Tav and Goldsons side, yet it's easy for Borna to get grief. Next Season we need a fresh front 3, I pray Kent doesn't stay on. 36 games, 3 goals, pathetic.

Jamie Kirk

There are very few exceptions I believe. But any manager is going to look with Celtic at the moment when we are this poor and their only competition. Ange has it very easy.

Colin Mathie

Beale set us up to lose today.

Andrew Hind

Both goals same mistakes, and same old poor excuses from Tav time for a good few of this team to move on can't stand these piss poor performance against that mob

Simon Botterill

Miles ahead. Look at games at home. We let players steal yards constantly, refs walk off without a word from one of the 25 match day players and staff available to manage the situation. We are a soft touch and that was the same from Beale today who put out a passive midfield to survive, shocking.

CGG

There was so much wrong about today it’s actually scary, a 40 year old goalie is the only one that came close to pass marks

KMc

This squad own being 2nd best, time and time again they fail when it matters. We are in real danger of them overtaking us on trophies won. Unforgivable.

Alastair McGeoch

This may be a “hot take” but it is clear that the rangers jersey weighs heavy on the majority of our squad and always has done. Our recent cup record is appalling and and we have barely scraped a title challenge together post Xmas apart from 55. The alarm bells ringing for me is despite that and despite chasing Cantwell and Raskin through January Beale decides to drop them and go back to a starting lineup who he should already know have proven to find getting over the line in the cups difficult. I still cannot fathom why he did not make a change at half time. Beale has some massive decisions to make now. It’s up to him to show us he knows what is needed to get us back on top

mark wyper

Said it weeks ago there's players in this team that shit themselves when they see Celtic line up against them it's time for those players to try a fresh challenge and move on because they're broken.

David Walne

Too many failings from Beale to mention. Knew when seen the team line up we were up against it. It's utterly unforgettable playing Kamara and Lundstram together today. Lundstram has been poor for a good while and Beale seems to be the only one who can't see that Kamara doesn't want to be here.

David McBurney

Couldn't have put it better myself guys from the minute the team was announced you knew it was all wrong. Starting with one midfielder that's not 100% fit is one thing but 2 was suicide. After 3 mins I could tell Lundstram was out his depth so why couldn't Beale after 50? Beale will have nightmares about this for a while, he fucked up big style

Rona Bluebell

Don’t take that on. Seriously. It hurts but I’d rather be us than any of them. It will come good again.

David Innes

Not listened yet so you may have mentioned this but when I heard the team I had the exact same feeling as I had before the Old firm game at Ibrox in Gerrard’s second season when he dropped Morelos and we lost 2-0

Heart and Hand

Manager got everything wrong and the players were rotten.

Pedro

Not playing Raskin was a stupid, stupid mistake. Glad the pod realises how shit we were.

JM

We surrendered - some pish about “protecting” Raskin and Cantwell…. Poor from Beale today - grow a set.

Very Good Joinery

“Sakala gets unlucky with the other chance” joke

Simon H&H

All on the manager. We knew it was wrong from the moment team was announced

Thomas Poole

I just dont get it..raskin had to start

Scott Tolmie

What is worrying is that come ht Beale obviously couldn’t see what we all could

aldo adens

100% to start with a midfield 3 of GK,JL,MT with 2 out the 3 not 100% fit and 1 who has not been intrested in best part of 18 months was a major worry before a ball was kicked. To many players today miles off it only came to life when he switched the midfield 3 and also why he took alfie off and brought colak on with 15 to go we are 1 goal behind and he replaces like for like instead of going with both alfie and colak up top is beyond me. Beale after today like game against them in Jan has lots to answer to.

Steven L

The banner said it best last week….. 2 trophies in 11 years……… NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Colin Gardner

Just agreeing with everyone above. That’s on the manager today I’m afraid. Showed his inexperience today by not playing Raskin. Utterly shambolic first half. We play against that mob as though they have 15 players on the park. It’ll take me a while to get over this one!

Gregg

Hopefully a lesson learned for the manager - was gutted task in didn’t start the game. Felt he gambled on Tillman and Lundstram and certainly the latter didn’t pay off - thought he should have changed it at half time.

James Cameron

This is not on only the manager this is the same group of players that have failed time and time again in big matches. We could have the best manager in the world and the same thing would happen. The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting a different result. Unless the board back the manger in the summer. We will have a season like this again. The board, Wilson and Beale have to get it 100% in the summer on recruitment. 2 trophies since 2016 is SIMPLY not good enough. We are Rangers FFS and we should not be accepting this abject failure.

Gary Shaw

That felt worse than the 2019 final….we battered them that day and should have won at a canter but that today absolutely disgusted me….we are so laboured and nearly every player wants too many touches….when we have the bal it looked like they had about 16 players and when they have it it looks like we had a 5-a side team

Robert White

Echo what many say. Worst loss since we came back up. We are back. This is Rangers. Not good enough. Sheer frustration at the obvious, repeated flaws and errors. Beale bottled it just like Gio.If its not 56 in 2024 he must go.

Angus MacDonald

Realistically from that starting 11 today who would you all be wanting starting 11 first day of next season if we are going to be going to be successful. For me Goldson, Davies, and Tav at a push. The rest no. Tillman depends on fee.

Stace1ofthePeople

I am utterly sick to f*cking death of this team. Time after time letting us down and failing to deliver. Far too many players are below rangers standard but everyone likes to bang on about 55 form and euro run. Which btw is in the past and means f*ck all. Kamara and lundstrum was criminal today! Both hav been way below standard this season yet start them in the biggest most important game we've played so far. I've lost count of how many times tav has apologised to us fans. No leadership was on the park today . Its actually depressing supporting this team at times . I love rangers but it's a tough journey. The year we won 55, we shat the bed with 2 cups. Should have been a treble! Year after shat the bed with the league and through away a lead .."but we made it to a euro final" yes and we lost! Put out cup by Hibs, embarrassing display. Won SC. And now they are looking to win a treble and the thought of us being trophiless this season is just beyond me. We need at least 5-6 better players that can start.

William Cameron

Am listening causer I am FUCKING RAGING.

Laura McCrimmon

Very bad day for everyone, manager got team wrong and then decisions he made during the game were wrong as well. Subs should have been made earlier for the midfield and Alfie should never have been subbed off. So that's what manager for wrong but as for the players in the park once again just so poor, not doing basics, so slow and once again giving away sloppy goals. These players have so much previous of just not turning up but I really had hoped they would have learned from last mistakes but once again failed us. Just a horrendous day and I really hope Beale looks at this and realises he must stop picking based on experience and loyalty and go with the young and better quality that he has craved and signed!

G87

Listening to the full podcast and the one thing that not one podder was wiling to admit is that there team and squad currently is better than ours. Not saying beale had a great day or decision making. But talk about a podcast that papers over the cracks The squad needs a complete overhaul.

Rod

I've lost a lot of faith in Beale today, not so much getting his team wrong but persisting with it in the 2nd half. No subs at HT was a dereliction of duty on his part. Worrying

Spoon

I judge him by output where others seem to judge him on intangibles, his output has never been enough and yet we have people terrified what we will do when he leaves. Personally I think he is vastly over rated, past his sell by date and part of the reason we are stuck in a rut. Time to try something different as I’m bored of the excuses for him.

Making Strides

And scream like an idiot for no good reason whatsoever? Not sure what that would achieve.

Spoon

His only good ‘stay’ is his expected offside was very very good this game ….

Rona Bluebell

I think Zander said the better team won and wasn’t going to sugar coat it, to be fair

Billy Forrester

Kamara is a shitebag and looks exactly like a £50,000 player, I hope I never see him in a rangers jersey again. A weak and lazy player who doesn’t want to be here, get him away. Sakala is just a headless chicken who has speed but not a lot else, take what we can get for him and he can go and smile somewhere else when he misses sitters.

Fraser Black

As soon as it came out we all knew what was going to happen . . . When has a player ever shouting his mouth off before a game went on to actually do something in said game?! Naive is the politest way of putting it.

Pedro

You're right. Everything is fine part 734. That man is shouting at a football match with a decent point. You are spending a decade doing an actual podcast saying it's all fine regardless of what you see. I wonder who is the one that has a point.

Spoon

As someone unconvinced by the sweeping improvement others seem to have seen under Beale I think this was probably us playing at our level. Both in terms of tactics, set up and key personnel it’s the same dross we started to at the end of the SG era which Beale seems to simultaneously get credit for and avoids criticism for in terms of the good and bad. Too slow, to reliant on guys who aren’t as good as the hype suggests and reluctant to move to a new style and set up. Any new player isn’t improving this squad they are brought in and dragged down to the old guards levels. The bottom line is we have lots of technical guys but few who grab a game and most important far too few who create or score goals regularly, especially in the front three all of who could move on as far as I’m concerned.

G87

There's a difference between saying better team won on the day and looking at the bigger picture

David Bold

He's not won either of the two games that actually mattered. I won't remember the laboured victory over Partick Thistle, but I will remember this embarrassment today. Will he have the courage to get rid of his perennial loser pals in this squad? Fine margins etc, but I remember when Alex McLeish took over and the impact of the League Cup victory over Celtic. Beale could be starting by overseeing a Celtic treble which is very difficult to come back from.

Douglas Hannah

As the majority have already said the manager ballsed it up with his tactics and team selection. I have wanted Kamara binned for ages, he has wanted out for a long time and it shows,as for his sidekick JL the least said the better. Listening to the pod Staff snr comments about not being surprised at no changes at half time was baffling, what did he think those two in particular were bringing to the game that suggested they deserved more time on the pitch.

Maca82

It’s glaring in these games (particularly since I started watching them sober) that the boy Hatate gets a level of time on the ball I’ve never seen better players afforded such as Ferguson for us or Lambert for them. Why two managers in a row haven’t seen this and remedied it is beyond mental. Celtic aren’t world class passers or full of individual brilliance but they run like fuck and play off the shoulder. Allowing any of the midfield three to swagger about and pick passes down the sides is mad. Compare and contrast the press on Tillman et al. Did anyone think when the team was announced we we were winning this? As a response we must expect Cantwell and Raskin to see the season out now as starters and hopefully if fit the likes of Yilmaz, Lawrence and Matondo (I know but West Ham game etc) play plenty mins. None might be good enough but Barasic, Kamara etc won’t be either and we have the form book for that so may as well try.

Paul Kerr

Totally agree. The manager made a balls of the team selection, the players made a balls of the game. A little bit of naivity from Beale today, the first we've seen that. The important thing from here is that he learns from it. You can't trust experience if they aren't on form. We had an 11 capable of winning the cup today, but we made their manager's job easy when we didn't have the conviction to pick the 2 guys we brought in to start and we risked the wrong midfielder(Lundstram over Jack). Tillman I can forgive him for. It's unfair to use him against him, but Kamara is dialling it in and not worthy of a starting berth over others.. If Beale doesn't know it by now, I have no defence for him. I have every faith in him as Rangers manager but he must believe in himself and his vision going forwards or we're wasting our time.

Tamus

Our manager is an inept blowhard

Heart and Hand

Papers over the cracks?! Are you kidding? We were rubbish and the manager got it totally wrong. Nobody tried to defend it at all. And clearly they are better than us right now but what do you want, us tossing them off?

Ross Thomson

Manager carries the can for that today. Wrong lineup, doesn't change it at half time and then taking Morelos off for Colak. Add that to his sub in the Jan 2nd game which cost us that game.

James McCabe

I fear that we have to face the fact that some of our players aren’t as good as we like to believe they are. 😔. I also think we have to face up to the fact that we have a team who aren’t very good @ attacking. When was was the last time we scored a 1 on 1, when was the last time we were comfortably ahead after 30 mins. How many times do we have 60-70% possession & it’s 0-0 @ half time. I can’t mind the last time I was @ a game & thought god their keeper has had a worldy today. We have got results no doubt about that. But if u dig a bit deeper I think there are some serious questions. Everybody said last week @ Livingstone how good it was. I was thinking the only goal we scored from open play was in the last 5 minutes. We needed a penalty(part of the game) and a great free kick (again part of the game) but from time to time it would b nice to break down a defence with a bit of skill or a killer pass. But unfortunately we seem to have got a group of players who want to take 5 touches & f**k about and let teams get back into a shape. I’d argue it’s been like that since warburton if I’m honest.

Rona Bluebell

It was an excellent podcast as always. People are in melt down and stuff gets said and misconstrued. H&H is held in such high regard (as NEH sell out shows) and is such a brilliantly safe place and much appreciated. 🙂

CJT

Can't for the life of me see why as a club we seem incapable of joining the dots going back through Gerrard to Gio and now Beale that clearly show a core group of players that can't do what Rangers players need to do - win trophies consistently. They just don't have the mentality. What did we do when given the opportunity to change that when Gio went though? We bring in the guy who's most likely to perpetuate rather than solve that problem. And what do we then do as supporters? We start drinking the Koolaid. FFS 4 months ago you couldn't find anyone who didn't think we needed a radical clear out. Now we're seriously talking about keeping Alfie and Kent when we'd clearly be 2nd choice for both. Getting rid of them and most other Gerrard era 'stalwarts' is the cost of freshening up and moving forward. The number of faces lining up today that lined up in the last LC final against them is quite frankly an indictment on all involved in recruitment and team selection throughout that period. Beale is here. He'll get my support but he better start practicing what he preaches or more and more will start to question whether he is refreshingly open or just a blow hard. That shite about buying first team players, looking them in the eye to see they're up for it etc. rings very hollow at the moment to me when his actions say when the chips are down I'll fall back on the same group of serial bottlers that got the previous manager the sack and pribably should've got him and Gerrard the sack before 55 but for his former gaffer's standing in the game.. Up to him now to prove to the doubters this isn't a sliding doors moment for him. He needs to focus on the future not the past for that to happen IMO.

Neil McWhirter

Gaffer being braver in team selection and I think we win that today, intact even at half time he changes it we win that today.

Al H

Expected so much more from Beale and the squad today. Trying to get head round how we work through this and move forward long term.

Colin McL.

A timid manager who’s decisions fed into a fragile group of players. Beale contradicted himself from his talk of starters and players being brave. The most worrying aspect is that was a Cup performance from the Gerrard years.

David cation

I’m done with most of that team. Tav apologises again, Only won that league cause Celtic were a disgrace that season, if it had been close, wouldn’t have won. In that season beaten by st johnstone and st mirren in the cup. Euro final?!? Easiest German team? Shat the bed, didn’t turn up.

David cation

Sorry, had to heavily edit that post, quite drunk and angry. Lots of swearing originally. I Think we all have doubts about this team’s mentality. I’m done with most of them now. Beale has to realise this, or they will drag him down. Still, at least Tav has apologised……….. (got me angrier than it should have)

Craig

I knew we were done for when I heard the lineup but thought we may be planning for a half time renaissance like we have seen recently… Sadly, when I saw Kamara wearing his gloves in the tunnel for a battle with that lot on the nicest day of the year so far - we were fucked. Find your trusted players MB or the support will be colder than Glen’s hands mate.

C. J

Early in the game we had a chance to break forward, and Tav asked for the ball while gesturing to “slow down” as he turned back toward our own half. He’s a garbage tempo setter and the midfield lap it up. Lazy spine, shocking effort. Beale needs to cut these guys or he’s a dud in waiting.

Graham Jones

There are so many things feeding into todays result, which I feared was the likely outcome. There was an overconfidence around the club all week, and among the fans, which was probably fed into them by the club. You go low key with these games, and you keep things in house, not give your rivals the opportunity to pin slack comments on the dressing room board. You do your work, you build focus for the game into the minds of the players and you fill them with self-belief if they are prepared to leave nothing out on the park. There’s a lack of understanding of what it takes to have the mentality for this club, and maybe there are gaps in the set-up. Maybe we need we need someone with that experience. I’d like to see him bring in someone who has played for the club when it was successful as part of his staff, but it Kenny Miller of Barry Ferguson, because they’ve blotted their copy with the club and support. KT might be worth a shout. That wasn’t why we lost today, because I think there are lot so reasons, such as underinvestment since we won the league. It’s a massive mistake to underinvest when you wins league title, and this board made it. However, the recruitment has been pretty poor for almost tow years now. More work needs to go into whether the players have the mental strength to adapt to the club. Some have, and others haven’t really grasped the responsibility of what it means to represent the club. Why is it that the likes of Bayern Munich can find positions for their former greats, as do Ajax, yet we have no vision of using the experience of people like Richard Gough, Mark Hateley or Brian Laudrup? It could be another three names, but it wouldn’t matter because the attitude would be the same. I was pleased to see JJ back coaching at the club, because we need some more experience in the Academy. Things just feel a bit flat tonight, but we do need to have some tough debates in the weeks ahead. There is still a lot of work to do in the club. that could start with starting the midfield capable of confronting the other lot in the first hour of a match, because they don’t have the fitness to match us if we do that.

AGS

Beale did the Gerrard gear and over thought it; midfield was a joke! Well done the tims

Gordon Smith

At least most of you can go to bed and dream of something better. Woke up at 2am to watch the game have not to stew on it all day at work. Have to wait until 5pm to have a drink to numb the pain.

Alan Stewart

A team full of cowards. Absolutely disgusted.

Brian McLatchie

What was the story not observing the minute appreciation for the Hibs owner, wasn't a minority the songs belting out from our end.

Brian McLatchie

On the game itself, no different to the rest of you concerns with the midfield selection and 2 of them clearly not fit enough and the other has had better days. Beale has to pull his head in a bit and rein in his love for the sound of his own voice. Despite the unbeaten run prior to this beyond the Hearts performance, it has been mostly ordinary

Colin Hutchison

Agreed, changes came too late, that midfield needed legs which we could all see after 5 mins it didn't have.

Colin Hutchison

They have a team full of runners that's it, we didn't match that like we have in the games we have won or drawn.against them. That was down to Beale throwing guys in who clearly didn't look fit and not trusting Raskin or Cantwell.

chris smith

I think we need a period of quiet introspection from Beale now. He completely stuffed this.

Alastair McGeoch

Having slept on it, reality is when we won the league the board failed to invest coupled with Gerrard along with Beale and Tavernier being able to drive the mindset needed to go again. Facts are majority of this squad are done. We’ve had 4 transfer windows since 55 and effectively played the same team against Celtic where they spent the best part of 30M in the same period. The real concern about Beale is that he appeared to bottle it yesterday by not standing by all his big talk about signing players for the starting 11 then dropping his two new signings and then seeming to freeze during the game where his in game decision making was poor. We have a culture through the club of bottling it be that the board when we won the league, the players who can’t get over the line in 4 out of the 5 major finals they have played and Beale in the game itself. It’s on Beale now to show he’s learned from this, to identify the right players to be shipped out, the right players to bring in to shift the mentality and the board to back him. Otherwise, we all need to get used to more days like this. Close but no cigar looking for anything we can cling to as a sign of progress.

David Campbell

It doesn't feel any better this morning. This is gonna take a while to get over.

Stephen Grant

The manager will always defend his selection, but we all were worried what we would get from Lundstrum and Kamara is what we saw , he made a mistake and he needs to quietly accept that , we were lacking in so much in midfield it was incomparable when the changes were made

Angus Mackay

Well safe to say Michael Beale has a lot of ground to make up now. That line up was inexplicable. As others have said, he talks far too much - do your talking on the pitch, please.

Russell McGhee

Just listened this morning and can't disagree with the guys. Wrong team, wrong tactics and wrong timing of subs, wrong in subbing Alfie. The manager made a rip-roaring cvnt of that game and simply has to take it on the chin. I have a feeling though that the criticism that is surely coming his way will sting and I'm not at all certain he'll take it the right way. I hope I'm wrong.

Doug Young

I had very little expectation going into this game because I felt he would revert to the usual. And lo, it came to pass. Sick of this movie. We look good when we have energy and press. Sadly, these players revert to type too often. Until that changes, we continue to be second to a decent, but not great, opposition.

Martin Davies

We all criticse Barisic, Kamara, Morelos, etc and the jury is out on Davies, Lundstram, Sakala... but I'm now also starting to wonder if our regulars like Tav, Goldson, Kent have what it takes to win things as well. They've played a part in these failures too. No one should feel that their position is safe. Not when we have an empty trophy cabinet

Niall MacKay

Don't think Ben Davies did much wrong yesterday to be honest. He was sold short for the two goals by a lack of common sense and nous from his team mates.

Doug Young

Kent's been close to an empty shirt for 18 months. Tav and Goldson are decent players but revert to type as soon as they face decent opposition. Tav was pretty good last season for the most part but has been pretty dire all this one.

Colin Mathie

He was the cheap option as manager. He already knew the club due to his time with Gerrard so the board thought screw it, we wont bother having folk apply for the job and we'll give it to Beale.

Stace1ofthePeople

Kamara needs to get so far to fuck from this team. Beale NEEDS to have the balls to make changes and freshen the squad. What confuses me is who the hell is going to get the player of the year award? Literally not one of them deserve it , everyone has been average at best or injured. The injured players need to leave we cannot afford to have people taking a wage and not contributing. The lack of winning is a combination of investment, management AND the players. It's an absolute shit show and nobody deserves to be let off lightly. We are in this constant rebuild/limbo phase and are moving nowhere I don't care what anyone says. 55 and a SC trophy in the last however many years is embarrassing

Graeme Guthrie

2pm on the 27/2 and the file isn't playing due to an error. Anyone else?

Doug

For me taking Alfie off was the right decision. He was getting more and more petulant and angry... I was just waiting on him doing something stupid and getting sent off.

Martin Boyd

I made it to Tuesday before listening, not because I was “ so angry”, but because I felt let down.
