Hoggy is back from Poland and is joined for the first time in a good number of weeks by his brother in arms, Cammy Bell.

Lots to discuss - from form and what a difference a week makes, to Raskin and Cantwell, to summer budget and whether Malik Tillman is sound business, to Big Tony Colak.

Ouch! Kippered … ;-))))

Colin Munro

Was it not Killie we played a good 1st half last week? 😉

Gregg

Good show lads. Re potential new centre half I wonder if we should try and either punt souttar or loan him out. Worrry would be that we’d have a back up who then gets injured when needed.

Graeme Guthrie

I think we need to be careful criticising Morelos. He played while injured to Colak could fully recover, and the last game he had Lunny and Kamara in the midfield. Colak has scored 2 goals in 4-1 win where Raskin and Cantwell have come in, dominated and pushed us up the park. There is definitely issues with Morelos, but im not buying into the idea Tony Colak is suddenly a superstar striker

Mark

I wouldn't go near Tillman at that price. Incredible technical ability but there isn't a braincell between those ears. He's flopped badly in every big game we've played, we're talking about paying 6m for a guy to turn up against Motherwell. I dont think we'd get the money back for him.

Gregg

He’s 20 - I think he can develop in game awareness the more he plays (or brain cells as you put it). Arguably he’s improved markedly from the start of the season with working back, winning the ball and has levels to go in my opinion. Add in he can play a few positions and it’s a no brainer for me

Rona Bluebell

Our standards are slipping so much. Remember Durrant age 20, or Barry Ferguson? Consistently good. I know this makes me sound a bit ‘back in my day’ but all this ‘maybe maybe’ stuff. Just want someone who plays good every bloody week

Anyone disregarding Tillman, look at his importance qualifying for CL. Without him we don't qualify. Doesn't turn up for big games? More like a fall guy for the same old players bricking it when it matters... Ahem Kent!

Tom McDavid

Regarding the likely high points total around 90/100 points, you need to take into account the gap between the OF and rest if league has never been bigger.

George Harrison

Nobody is saying Colak is a superstar, what he is though is a much better finisher than Alfie. Alfie has had ample opportunity over the last few years to attract interest from the ‘big’ leagues, but the silence has been deafening !

Russ

Fully agree with the 100 points and second being failure, but was more getting at just consistently getting A+ points totals which will have us more often than not winning titles. '55 was a bit out of the ordinary but this season looks like we can get a good tally whilst not going breakneck like we did back then. Encouraging. Cheers for taking the time lads.

Russ

Agree, although we've only posted 90+ once since coming back to the top flight and that was '55 which was a bit of an outlier.

Russell McGhee

The midfield of Jack,Raskin & Cantwell played very well at Easter Road. However, going forward I'd have a concern over a lack of goals from that three. Therefore I see Tillman as a must in midfield.

Mark

I dont think his awareness or decision making has improved at all and he's had a fair chunk of football. His work rate was never as bad as some said it was. The cup final was a perfect example. He appears to have got a free pass because of fitness but he had no idea how to find space to receive the ball and really struggled to be in the right position out of possession. The difference when Cantwell (who wasn't great) came on was stark, he was at least able to get on the ball while Tillman spent most of the game looking up at the sun with his eyes shut. I would have expected to see some improvement in that after 15 or 20 games

Mark

Tell me about his performance against St G. Maybe look beyond the goal keeping mistake he scored from. Like many, GVB done him no favours but the lack of awareness and poor decision making is the same today as it was them. There's been no improvement.

Gregg

Sadly they are the exceptions to our young players - could add in Charlie Miller and they are the only top players that played consistently well at a young age for us in my lifetime - I’m 43.

Gregg

Can see cantwell moving forward a place in our system in time.

Russell McGhee

Possibly, but will he score the goals required in that area? We already have a forward that doesn't score goals in Ryan Kent.

Tillman, no improvement? Everyone was calling him lazy when he wasn't. He did improve on his closing down. He also scored the goal against Union that took us through to PSV. The Goalkeeper error was caused because Tillman closed down and put pressure on him. He's scored 4 match winning goals domestically also. And if it wasn't for his performance against Partick he could have been put out the Cup by them. Here's the thing, of he costs us 5/6m is there a good chance he will make us a profit, yes. So it's a no brainer.

Gregg

It’s a fair point and time will tell. Would love to see us with a dynamic front three that can play quickly and interchange positions - could even add the Tillman role into that too. Excited to see how it pans out

Mark

I've never thought he was lazy. Fir the most part he's not. He looks lazy because he's always in the wrong place. Despite extensive game time his decision making is still really poor and he's anonymous in the games that matter. We shouldn't be spending 6m on a guy to be the difference in games against Partick Thistle. He was howling in the Union game which is ignored because he scored a header when the keeper forgot to jump. Young players hit their ceiling at different times and I don't think he will get any better than he is now.
