It's one year since the stifling heat and disappoint of the Europa League Final in Seville; and Hoggy wanted to mark that by bringing podders and listeners onto the show to talk about their experiences - their unique stories of the week.

Be warned, it's a long pod!!

Hoggy welcomes Cammy, Steven Harrigan, James and Simon, Jamie McEwen, John Robertson, Duncan Wright, Alex Hogg and a host of written listener tales.

The best of times, the worst of times.  But all with the best of people x

One year on it still hurts as bad. From the highest point of my life beating Leipzig to the lowest point of losing the EL final. I had booked my flights and accommodation after the Dortmund match and got everything all in for under £250, the better half couldn't get time of work nor could my mum to look after the kids so I couldn't go, absolutely gutted. I did consider leaving them in the wild to fend for themselves for a few days - character building.

This game comes to mind on almost a daily basis for me. And it’s as painful to contemplate as ever.

I really don't know if I can listen to this. 18th May 2022 was my son's 21st birthday and sadly that day will haunt me forever. Crazy what football can do😬

While it may be cathartic for some I’m afraid this pod is not for me.

Too soon even a year on lol. That game still bothers me, so close to the greatest day since Helicopter Sunday. I’ll never watch those final highlights in Seville, never have with Manchester.

Tremendous pod Hoggy mate, what a start to the weekend. A period in time where we were all in a zone that will never be matched, incredible experience!

Great show Hoggy , couldn’t make Manchester as I was offshore , couldn’t make seville as I was skint - so watched it in the hotel nearby with hundreds of other bears , those 11 minutes were the best 11 minutes of my life . Leaving the hotel absolutely bealing , couldn’t believe we’d lost after the Leipzig performance

Craig Sutherland

Sorry Hoggy, I could only manage about 20 minutes. Still too soon for me

What a cracking trip Seville was (bar the result!) like us all heartbroken and it will always be a case of what might have been....but I got to take my son to a major European final, abiding memories.....Flight to Madrid(via London), met the LA Loyal on the Renfe fast train and boys from Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane, Dubai, was on the Evening Times website with the LA loyal when arrived at Santa Justa train station(the Mrs sent me the proof😊)....Got there on the Monday.....party atmosphere in the city, locals were bemused, didn't have a clue about the game but embraced the occasion and shared a real dislike for the Guardia Civil🤣......Tuesday was all about the Rangers gathering point, met boys from all over Scotland, Hong Kong, more Sydney loyal, the atmosphere was friendly if a little bit of nerves kicking in.....was so proud of our club and the people who support it and confirmation if we needed it, of our global reach🇬🇧. Wednesday, my boy flies into Seville.....the city is filling up now and blue and orange strips everywhere and locals stopping to ask what's going on, my pigeon Spanish came in handy. I also ordered a few boys food (probably the only food of their trip).....Frankfurt fans mixing well, no issues saying 'good luck' but not meaning it......Off to the fan Square and all I can say is carnage, bodies, bottles everywhere with our tunes being belted out in +30 degree heat......off to the Stadium good and early (just as well)....the Guardia Civil behave as expected 🙄......4 check points later (downplaying the hassle)we eventually get in with my son's iPhone with 4% left(ffs kids!)....we get in and waited 45 mins to buy water/juice, we were the lucky 1's (gave a good bit away to people really struggling).....my boy got talking to a German kid his age and the respect shown was outstanding(agree Frankfurt fans were class, had a few beers with them and even after the game were shaking hands)..... in the stadium we were next to the Dubai Loyal (1 guy brought the party down, so negative from before the game to the end, thanks mate).....after the game an eery silence ( a mixture of fatigue, dehydration and profound disappointment). I spoke to couple of older boys and said this could be our lot ( was in Manchester 2008 and this trip), found a shop selling water and gave away to one pensioner who was really struggling.....Found my way back to digs in 20 degree heat in early hours of the morning...thanks for letting me put this on......what a journey, this and Liepzig were the highlights, memories we'll never forget.......They beat Barcelona, West Ham but couldn't beat the teddies.....but agree they were proper fans and not big time Charlie's.......Cheers Hoggy and Cammy ( sorry for spelling, done this on my phone)........@ Hoggy - There's definitely a book in these memories, make it happen 😀

Lovely to hear from your son. He sounds adorable. Also good to hear mention of how beautiful Seville actually was. Those purple trees were amazing.

Very enjoyable podcast. Still hurts thinking of how close we were.

Graeme

Great pod. Can relate to many of those stories. Not sure I’ll get over result but the journey and experiences will never be replaced….

Listened to the commentary at the start - choked up. Can't listen to the rest - Soz

Thanks for reading my story out. That was Emotional for me I have to say. As we’re a year on from the final it’s also a year on from a holiday of a lifetime. The memories for me and time stamping everyone’s story’s Vs what I was up to has brought tears to my eyes so thanks for that. However In all honesty it was a great pod…
