When Rangers new board made their first permanent appointment as manager, they turned to former city trader and highly-rated ex-Brentford boss Mark Warburton. Alongside Gers stalwart David Weir, he arrived in summer 2015 with a mandate to finally bring Rangers into the modern era.

Join Dave, Stuart, Rob and David as they begin to chart Mark Warburton's time as Rangers boss.

Let the good times roll! For about 5 months

Ross Stirling

Can't believe you didn't call it Aye bready. Boycott!

Ross Gordon

I could sense in the dead air left by David when it was brought up again last time around that it wasn’t happening! 😅

Douglas Innes

Can't wait to listen to this , really enjoyed the Warburton team in the championship probably due to 3-4 years previous ........

John Graeme Paterson

Boooooo! Name sucks. Change it to Aye Bready or Plan A Team or we Riot

Stevie Batchelor

Was at the 6-2 game and met my future Wife that day, that Rob has met! 😂

Mark

Warburton done a great job at Brentford but they weren't all that stats driven at the time. Frank McPartland was heavily involved there as well. He actually left Brentford because they were going all in on metrics and stats based recruitment model from the next season which Warburton didn't believe in. How'd that work out. 👀

Alex Oliver

Did McPartland not join later - around October time? I seem to remember he was at Burnley before joining us! But onto a more cheery subject - the 6-2 win at Easter Road was a brilliant day out!

Jack

Sebastian faure somehow ended up back at Lyon for a year 🤣🤣🤣

Simon

Can’t believe it’s eight years. Not wanting to be negative but two trophies in that time is a massive underachievement. I wasn’t one shouting for change at the top recently but in hindsight I think those who had been calling for it were right.

Ross Thomson

Fond memories of this season. I would still have kept Warburton when he did go. Would rather have given him the money that Pedro got.

Robert Tringham

Really enjoyed that… despite knowing the ending

bigwilliamstyle

With Darren McGregor I recall him doing a bit of the dirty on us. We’d let him go as he was signing for St Johnstone but then winds up going to Hibs - our direct rivals for this season!

Gordon Mac

Things I remember about the start was Tav touched the ball twice against Burnley, I turned to my mate and said "he's a player". After that I was genuinely sitting at the first few games just laughing at what I was watching, and I mean really laughing out loud, it was like my god we are playing football!

Russ

Good listen.

David Innes

When we appointed Warburton I worked with a Brentford fan. He told me he’d had them playing the best football he’d ever seen - I thought he must have been exaggerating until the Hibs game. He also said he has no plan B…

David Innes

I think the fans might have been more patient with him if he hadn’t won the Scottish cup semi. It created unrealistic expectations and ultimately was the beginning of the end for him

Gordon Rennie

"My old man's a dustman" should've been the theme tune

Andrew

What happened to “Aye Bready”? Cowards!

Dougie Jones

Good stuff. Very fond memories of a time of hope. Absolute coup to get him at the time in context, and some genuine quality signings.

Douglas Innes

Didn't we have a goal disallowed at 0-0 or 1-0 hibs ? I always remember going in at HT 2-1 up and wondering " how the f*ck did that happen " as hibs had kinda dominated us ...... what a feeling leaving Easter Rd that day

John Myles

I was dithering whether to get my season book back this game made my mind up so grateful as I have best bears sitting around me .

David Marshall

Sorry, the fucking what show? Disgrace!

Callum Dinnen

I'm looking forward to this one, I hadn't had a season ticket since my own personal boycott started in 2013 and this period made me fall in love with Rangers all over again. I've always been of the impression that Warburton was more suited to being a director of football rather than a manager/coach. I'll be interested to see how history judges him, I think some of the bitterness at how he left clouded a lot of judgement and I think he deserves a lot of credit for putting the building blocks in place and modernising the club after the Spiv era.

Colin Mathie

The Newcastle 5, fatboy had a lot to answer for back then.
