Got to admit I’m not fully on board with Butland but it’s probably a gamble worth taking - even if he ends up being a disaster we should be able to punt him back down south fairly easily

My issue with Ben Davies is that while I think he's a good player, I just don't trust him to lead the defence in Goldson's absence. Helander - when fit I would have absolutely trusted him. I trust Souttar as well with that role. Davies to me is a 2nd centre half - that's fine if you're a cheap punt like Jack Simpson or a kid developing like Leon King but I don't think it's good enough for a £4m centre half.

Young winger. He’s okay, but nowhere near what we’re looking for I don’t think. Hapoel really struggled this season and he only played around 15-20 matches.

As a support we'll have to be patient. Butland may take a bit of time to settle (think The Goalie's poor start), and we can't fly off the handle and right him off first mistake he makes!

Dowell doesn't remind me of Arfield at all. He seems much more like someone with good vision who will feed the attackers, rather than bursting beyond the forwards to get on the end of through balls. Butland seems like a risk to me because of his lack of game time over the past three years - hopefully we win a watch there.
