How do you assess the career of someone with incredible individual stats but no major honours? Is it enough to break scoring records or do they have to be part of a team winning the greatest prizes in the game to be considered truly great themselves? David joins Martyn to discuss this dilemma and more in the final Forum of the season.

You'll hear more from Martyn this summer with a re-run of the France '98 Time Capsule and some new episodes of the History Boys. Don't forget that Revolution would make a brilliant Father's Day gift for the Rangers Da in your life. Signed copies, with personal dedications can be found at www.heartandhand.co.uk/revolution

Elway eventually won two Superb Owls. It seemed to take forever

I think Harry might move on this summer for big money and be a flop like Torres. He clearly feels comfortable and at home in London and at Spurs, the fans love him and he's the big fish in the small pond. A move to a big club like Man Utd or Real Madrid means he's just another fish in a big pond, and he'll have the incredible demands of the fans and weight of the transfer fee and his own reputation around his neck. I hope I'm wrong because he's a terrific player.

In terms of Postecoglou joining Tottenham, how do you see his tenure going as of right now ?

I think I saw in interview where Kane said playing for England is the most important part of his career. Maybe he is just happy being the superstar at Spurs scoring goals that keeps him first choice for England. He could end up with a international goal scoring record for England that might never be beaten. He might see that as more important legacy than winning a few FA cups etc.

Great show, future shows. After topic of Ronaldo, a deep dive into the career of il Fenomeno. His last season at inter just sums up the heartbreak in Italy, especially under Hector Cuper

Looking forward to the return of History Boys over the summer. 👌

Ronaldo won things at every club he played at, bar his twilight years in Europe at Milan. All of them might not have been the much vaunted trophies everyone talks about, but I'd imagine the two world cup winner medals he has more than make up for that. He also played in Serie A when it was the best league in the world and he was competing against two of the greatest club sides ever. Kane hasn't won a thing to date. There's a big difference imo. Sometimes magnificent players win very little, but to finish your career with no medals would be absurd. Especially for a player as talented as Harry Kane. I think the comparison to Totti is the more compelling narrative, if we are going to compare him to any past player, although Totti won a league title, he should have won a lot more especially in Europe. However Kane won't be remembered as fondly if he wins nothing, he's not an easy player to romanticise, unlike Totti.

Firstly, we can compare anything we wish, it’s not the same as equating them. I think Shearer is a tighter fit to Kane but I just found Ronaldo interesting in the wider discussion of assessing individual careers in that in his club career - always more important IMHO - is surprisingly flat. One league title and no CL is a little underwhelming for that kind of talent but it was to highlight - as we said on the show - just how much luck has in a career. Choosing the right big club, injuries etc. Totti another who sadly lacked the chip of ice in the heart to go searching for prizes but I’m sure is more than happy doing what he did for his club.

Martyn, I think in your original Kane debate on seagulls you made the point that surely Kane will more easily set individual goalscoring records in a better team. He got 30 for spurs this season, anyone think he wouldn't have got more if he was at city? I'm on your side of this. The fact that it's a team sport means it's not zero-sum. Great teams allow great players to reach higher levels of individual achievement. Anything else is a waste of potential

Great show guys. Enjoy your summer break.

While Ronaldo doesn't have a Champions League medal, he does have a UEFA Cup winner's medal from an era where that particular honour carried a lot more kudos (I'd argue winning the UEFA Cup in the 1990s was probably harder than the European Cup/Champions League because you had 3 teams from Serie A, La Liga and the Bundesliga), and he won that particular trophy with one of the greatest individual performances in a European final I've ever seen.
