Think the Livi game was a different weekend from their late winner, still sums up those few weeks and that season.

Yip defo was but I’m sure Celtic got a late winner at tynecastle that day in a battle when looked like dropping points but as usual we dropped the points …

After the Ajax away game when Gio started greeting about financial disparity I phoned my dad and said we should sack him. He’d chucked the players under the bus. The Celtic VAR pressure was pathetic. It’ll start again next year and we should have a coherent media strategy to push back hard.

Gio was shafted after we beat PSV. His demeanour totally changed after that night as he was obviously expecting to make further signings. Hindsight is wonderful but at that time, the stagnation and complacency at board level down was starting to take hold. In a matter of months the "best in class" and "best squad in ages" comments really didn't age well.

You recording this from a potato Cammy?

I never got any positive body language from the players when GvB was working with them, be it on match day or even casually seeing a training video. The difference between him and Beale was night and day. I don’t blame him for it all, because there was a certain Ross Wilson. Who also failed to deliver what we needed. It all came from the top unfortunately, where we had a chairman and a Managing Director who didn’t provide the leadership needed. It’s only after seeing all the heads roll under Bennet they you realise how rotten things had become.

Very much like Gerrard and Malmo, not backed after 55, spending 1m that Summer. That absolutely screwed us the past 2 seasons.

I feel sorry for GVB, he essentially got us 20m for Bassey with the Europa run. Ross Wilson bringing players he probably wanted more than Gio did. Injuries utterly scunnered us this season. For me our best CB (Helander) out all season. And our 2nd wave of front 3 near enough all out the whole season. Lawrence, Roofe, Hagi. I think Douglas Park and Ross Wilson moving on is the best thing to happen to us though.

I'm surprised to hear how optimistic Stevie and Cammy where going into the season. I was very pessimistic about this season, I never felt that Gio was the right man and he wasn't backed either. Obviously no one knows how things will pan out but it's very interesting to hear an alternative viewpoint going into the season. I was still hurting from Seville though, still am tbf.

How difficult would have been for the SFA to get a media company to create a half hour video that explained how VAR would be utilised? Explain the circumstances where it will and won't be used, use examples from England, make it clear the hierarchy of decision making. Something that could have been left on youtube and referred back to every time someone started blathering unhinged nonsense about it.

Great wee chat to fill the close season lack of football gap / pain we are all feeling. Any idea when the first team pre season training starts? Btw, Eindhoven isn't in Holland 😜

Aye, you’re right, they beat Hearts 4-3 on the day we went on to drop points with Livi at Ibrox. Their late winner at St Johnstone was 2 weeks earlier just before we beat St Mirren 4-0 at Ibrox
