Calling it that Lammers is going be a brilliant acquisition for us.

Disagree on the idea that we can't sign forwards with good records at good teams in good leagues. Across the city Celtic paid £2.5m for the Greek boy who came in as the Belgian top flights top scorer (at a relegated side no-less) with something like 30 goals in 30 odd games. Kyogo cost them £4m odds. For me, the lack of goals in the signings thus far is worrying. The links to Palma, Maja, Dessers et al don't inspire confidence on goal return either. We're 30 plus league goals behind them. Plus Tillman needs replaced (15G, 10A in a 38wk season). We can't judge it until the window closes though.

Russ

It doesn't feel like it watching the games but scoring goals isn't this teams problem, we scored more goals last season than we did in 55 and more than Celtic under Postecoglou season before last, we need to cut out at least a third of last seasons goals conceded instead imo. We see Celtic snot Dundee United home and away and the paranoia kicks in. I'm more worried about Panzo then I am about Lammers, we've scored enough goals to win leagues for years..it's the defending that's cost us.

AmoRangers

I'm expecting them to spend big again this summer. Why wouldn't they? They've got about £60m post outgoings and have about £16m worth of fees due in from last January alone. We need to shopping super smartly to compete and I worry that this far we aren't. Proof will be come next May. Hopefully it's blue ribbons in the championship trophy.

Dessers tbh has proven career wise he’s a 1/2 striker. That’s more than good for us i think

Rona Bluebell

Refusing to get excited after convincing myself we were on for the treble preseason last time. Will wait and see what they play like first 😊

AmoRangers

That's fair on Dessers but if that's the "big" ticket goal threat signing of the summer, then I fear we'll be at risk of being short across the line. These signings might turn out wise but as I say, their records point towards us taking a collosal risk of being 30+ goals and 10+ points behind them again. I hope it works out for us.

Gregg

The Greek fella played in Holland not Belgium and he scored about 20 penalties - he was a decent player to be fair but nothing to write home about. His record outside that one season wasn’t great - don’t think he got double figures

AmoRangers

I agree - since Beales start to the 21/22 season under Gerrard then I believe we've conceded first in a League game about 30 times. Against them we've conceded first in the eight or so games before the 3-0 dead rubber this season. We concede criminal goals. Admittedly I think not having a husk of a goalkeeper glued to his line will resolve a chunk of it, and hopefully the CB and CM additions will resolve the rest.

AmoRangers

The Dutch bit is fair enough (though arguably you've made my point better as Dutch league is of a better standard than the Belgian). The Greek boy has hit about 10 pens his entire career per TransferMarkt with nine in the Dutch league. Bagged 29 in 33 appearances the season before they snapped him up. He's now on about 10 in 10 in the MLS from a glance. I think my general point - about quality, clinical goal scorers being within our price range - is a valid one. Enough about them!

George Higgins

Really is speculation until he plays. Get behind him and let’s hope he succeeds

John Smith

Definitely looks a brilliant player. There are some players who suit certain leagues and I reckon he’ll take to ours like a duck to water

Angus Mackay

I was slightly concerned until I looked into it a bit deeper. If the fans get behind this boy I think he'll be sensational. One of the things that we've been crying out for is creativity to unlock teams that are parking the bus, Lammers looks to me like a guy who has loads of that and playing with the likes of Cantwell should bring the best out of him. Going point about Kent too. His the signing photos from Turkey looked like someone had taken them on a phone. Levels.

Rian Clark

I take it Tillman’s not signing ?

Gary Staff

What’s the song at the beginning?

Gregg

Okay mate I was sure he’d scored more as I mind looking it up as I was shocked - given his record - that Ajax or the like hadn’t looked at him. That season was an outlier in his career from memory which probably explains it. I’m more concerned about the other striker we are in for - every shot is a sclaff. Makes Alfie look like zidane. That said - mick Beale is 2 for 2 so he has my trust and on that basis, I’m not going to spend all summer worrying about it

Spoon

I have no issue with Lammers but neither do I think he is the answer if the model is to continue to play a single striker. Absolutely content to see how he plays and more importantly what the whole team set up is before judging. The emerging narrative that goals dont matter and those who think its a worry are over reacting just isn’t logical. The last few seasons we have known that back, middle and front the team set up or personnel dont take enough shots and definitely dont score enough goals, to pretend its negative to continue to be concerned about this is a bit lazy. A players past transfer fee isn’t any form of direct indication of how they will do for you, neither is the league he comes from and I can’t get with the logic if we just want goals we could sign Shankland but thats not what we need. Goals is exactly what we need, especially domestically when our rivals are out scoring us and we won a lot of games by the odd goal due to a lack of firepower. The logic seems to be that we can take on these guys as its not all about goals which will come from elsewhere, thats fine but we are also signing other guys (or retaining guys) who also dont score much. The guys are 100% correct that its good to see signings and they will need to be judged on merit but its unfair to make out those who remain concerned by goals and the lack of natural goal scorers (bar the for some reason written off Colak) are some how off the mark. Its not a panic, its not negative but asking where are the goals coming from based on the much discussed Beale philosophy and rigid idea about how the team should set up is valid. I am also automatically wary of and player who comes with a the “if we can get ….” rider in front of them as thats always a big if.

Gregg

You make valid points spoon - however we can choose to worry and fret over it, or we can trust Michael Beale who is two from two so far in transfers. It’ll be a far more enjoyable summer, for me, to trust the gaffer and go into the season with optimism with the battle fever on

Spoon

I’m positive with the changes but if recent years have taught us anything its that you need to see a player play in the this league, see how they bed in and see what they do over a season before jumping to a conclusion positive or negative. I’m not sitting here grumping about the club doing business, business that I believe is solid and absolutely at the right level but hearing the some of the assumptions about how he will turn single figure goal returns into double just because this is an easier league doesn’t work for me. Plenty of stars have arrived here and found it harder than people think it will be. I also am an advocate of taking the best talent in your own league and there’s a lot to be said for having a guy you know can find the net instinctively. That’s why I am so disappointed in the continual running down of Colak a guy who has done it here and against teams to get us to the CL so the narrative he’s just alright and limited for me is lazy. Build a team to service a goal scorer, were not Man City but the concept is the same and it seems to work for them, bigger league, better players and a world class talent of course but surely it’s scalable ? I dont mind where they come from, I dont mind if its from a person or from the system but I want to see more output, more direct free kicks scored, more conversions from corners even just more shots. The guy who might be the missing piece is Laurence if he can get back fit and in form like he was before he left. If he and Cantwell can ship in with solid double figures then it takes the heat off the number 9 (or 14 or whatever they wear). Lammers looks decent, the other signings are positive but given the patchy at best record this squad has I’m not willing to go with blind faith just yet. Your point is also valid; “we can choose to ….” Thats the crux, people can chose to view these with a bit of lets wait and see, or some folk just naturally are pessimistic regardless of how they want to be, probably a defence mechanism in football as we are always a game away from despair or disappointment !

Gregg

Optimists live longer than pessimists - regardless of whether they are correct. Worth noting. Also - don’t disagree on the merits of Colak - wouldn’t be adverse to him staying - but we know your views on it now

Spoon

Why would you want to live longer when everything’s shit anyway ?

Mark

Lowry is home grown. The criteria is 3 years from the age of 15. McCrorie, Wright, King and Lowry are likely to be the home grown at club quota

Graeme Homer

Other than Wright, the rest are B list players and don’t need registered. So it’s the weighing up using the space on youngsters or more experienced players

Graeme Homer

Some issues with what was said Veerman was chased for windows, one window he said he wasn’t for leaving the Netherlands due to him suffering homesickness. Also we were never ever interested in Skov Olsen, it was a FF suggestion that fans got into a frenzy for no reason. Also Colak wasn’t prolong due to the old board, PAOK weren’t selling him until they got a replacement in and that’s what held it up. Last summer we were slow as we trying to ship out Kent, Alfie, Aribo and many more and didn’t want to buy cheaper/secondary options when we could get our first choice.

keith wright

Someone I would mind us having a look at for the left is Hany Mukhtar. Similar to Kent but 1 big difference, he scores a lot of goals!
