I know the English market is mental, but who on earth is buying Tillman for £25M?

AmoRangers

Pretty disappointing on Tillman. I appreciate we're getting probably £2-2.5m for a player which we don't own BUT He was a talent. So we're losing having 6-12mths of him as a player (probably 10G, 10A across a 38 game league season). That could earn us a trophy or European prize money. Plus the fruits of his general play. We're getting less than we probably would if we flipped him as a permanent (say a £10-15m fee next summer at a £5m cost yields £5-10m profit isn't unrealistic). Then we're also losing the opportunity to get a share of the next few paid for him (I think he'll move to an even bigger club in a couple of seasons and 10% of a £30m fee eclipses the total we're actually likely to get). It is what it is but I personally reckon that replacing his goal contributions for £5m is a tall order; demonstrated by the fact he's rumoured to be going for £10-15m. Its not all bad though, as hopefully the success story for Tillman and Bayern will go someway to convincing clubs we can develop talents leading to future loans/signings. Makes up for Amad.

Scott Tolmie

Incredible band, lucky to have seen them

Billy Forrester

He never turned up in any big games, we dodged a bullet with him. No doubts a good player with a huge future but wasn’t cut for our game in my opinion so we have made money on a player I wouldn’t have bought, happy days. Money better invested in strikers who can score

Mark

We're losing a player who would have cost us 5m to run over the top of Motherwell. He's this generation's Wladimer Weiss. This is a good outcome.

CRAIG CASSELLS

Has Cammy not seen David's tweet from last night that Rangers are not interested in the Greek striker

I owe Wilson an apology on this one. It had safety clauses built in. I’ve never heard of something like this before, but it’s obviously going to happen a lot more in the future. These types of deals will become more common, because clubs will look to get as much from their investments at every stage. When you think about it, we’re probably getting his wages back and when he goes for big money then we’ll get good development fees throughout his career. I still think he’s making a mistake not coming here for another eighteen months of so, and then he gets that big move he wants, because he’s needing to be coached more, and Beale would’ve given him that. Who knows, if he loses his way, then maybe Beale will give him a call again.

i was always under the impression that had we enacted the loan to buy for Tillman any future sale Bayern had 1st dibs to buy back therefore insuring themselves against future loss/profit , given that agents " talk " who would be surprised that Tillmans future is not in Scotland (players choice ) or at Bayern ( Bayerns choice ) but this is just to smooth things over so Tillman can get his move and everyone is happy .Tillman in my opinion was never coming back here and if we've been amicable to Bayern , hopefully here's to working with Bayern again should be looking for a player in a certain position that Bayern want to see in a competitive sense

Graeme Homer

The cancellation fee is always being used in Europe. Only times in the uk I’ve heard of is A. Madrid cancelling Alderwerield’s £6m deal to Southampton, paid £1.5 and sold to Spurs for £12m

AmoRangers

Nonsense take (in my opinion). The league is won and lost against fodder like Well; 34 games against people other than Celtic where we've won titles when losing all four OF games previously. You've also got all of the financial aspects I laid out. Plus, the idea that he "didn't turn up" for big games isn't quite right imo.

Elaine Campbell

Tillman deal = good IMHO. And this from a Tillman devotee. I thought (and think) the boy has all the talent in the world. And yes - we could have paid £5m for him and made ten times that if he was a superstar for us in the CL this year. In an alternate (but not too difficult to imagine) universe, we could have signed him for £5m - he could have got booted senseless in the SPL and ended his career and we lose the lot. Take the free money. End of story. I don't think he fancied the SPL - quite probably for the aforementioned "booting" reasons.

Rona Bluebell

He wasn’t worth the 5 million. He had flashes of good play but not consistent enough for this league.

John Smith

Big Lyndon’s a Bluenose. I’d love to see him sign. Deeply underrated player who could be the first proper finisher we’ve had since Boyd. Get it done Rangers

David

We need better than Tillman to achieve our goals next season, especially now Rodgers will be spending big on players. Didn't turn up in any of the big games, and I mean any. So personally I'm glad it's finished.

AmoRangers

Fitba is a game of opinions. Goes for the guys above too. I reckon that with Tillman off we're net 15 or so league goals down on last season nevermind bridging the gap. That's my overriding worry about the season ahead.

Gregg

Dykes is an absolute donkey - no thanks

David Innes

Completely agree. His attitude is 1st class and he’s proved with Scotland that he can be a big game player

Colin Gardner

I wouldn't say he was a donkey as he has certain attributes that would make him a handful for defences however if he is our no1 Centre forward at the start of the season then we have no chance.

Gregg

Nowhere near good enough - be better with Colak than him - does a job for Scotland that’s about it

Mark

Just watching the Scotland game and game on to post that. He is fucking honking. A big lump who'll run about and win a header but he's clueless. A million miles away from what we need

Cameron Fraser

Reports suggest that bayern had a buyback option of 10m had we bought him. So we were only ever on to make 5m profit if there was to be clubs interested at the 10m plus mark in future. The idea that we've lost out on 20m is nuts. Sorry to see him go but hopeful we can find a player with a similar profile going into the new season.

Ewan Christie

Assuming it’s just 10% of the next sale for Tillman and not 10% of any future sale as is being reported in some places? If it’s the latter we’ll be absolutely quids in once he leaves his next club 😂
