Funny how other clubs supporters were ready to boycott their own club back in 2012 to get rangers demoted to the bottom of Scottish football but have no fan movements to save Scottish football for doncasters absolutely shocking record for Scottish football. Almost like their hate for us is more than their love for anything else. Scottish football will never recover now 10 years of this corrupt management with no sign of change. But aye it’s all rangers fault

Lyle Anderson

Ideally we win q3 then drop into the Europa league for the group stages this year. Guaranteeing us the 5 million parachute payment and a much better opportunity to rack up coefficient points. Brugge will fancy their chances to win the conference league.

Charlie Nicolson

There's an African Cup Of Nations tournament in early 2024. Something to be aware of in recruiting players

Russ

I'd rather show some ambition and try and get third spot in a UCL group seeing as we'd probably be in pot 3 and then drop down. Still getting UCL whilst Celtic are in it is crucial, we can't afford multiple seasons of Europa whilst they qualify for UCL.

Tom

Hey David...what do you think of Neil Doncaster?... well ...🤣

Wouldn't mind dropping into Europa league to get a much better chance of getting points required to make club world cup, playing against teams from other continents would be something to look forward to, as well as a huge pot of cash

Derek Townsley

It's only in Scotland that reports are saying we can get into the Club World Cup. Everywhere else (including fifa.com) is saying it'll be 2 clubs per country, which would give us no chance, unfortunately.

Graham Jones

I’m not fans will ever get used to loan deals, but they happen all the time. It depends if you’ve done your research properly, and you structure a deal where you get what you want from it. I’m probably a bit cagey about FIFA because they’re they’re total crooks in my mind, but MONEY. That can’t mean we accept Europa League football, because we would be handing that lot the whole pot of money. The pressure needs to stay on Doncaster, because he is causing the game to go in reverse. You don’t get regime change sitting on your hands. We know that from experience.

Doug Maclean

I’m not torn on the CL or Europa League this year. We are a good Europa team and can reasonably look at a quarter final place or beyond. We don’t have the team this year to seriously compete in the CL. Build this year and win the SPFL and a decent crack at the CL next year

Graham johnston

There has to be a concern that us small leagues run the risk of creating a league where one team dominate forever. A team in Norway, Croatia or Scotland if they have a good few years will get even more money than their rivals. it would be impossible to compete. Especially with ffp. I'd be happy if it was us but if it's not then that would be a disaster. If in the same year one team got champions league and fifa club club they'd rake in 80m compared to their rivals 3 or 4 million for only competing domestically or a but more from the Europe league. Its creating a domestic team on steroids

Douglas Innes

Doncaster and lawwell has done this to keep 1 club at the top since 2012 , like I said yday ( couldve been day before ) SPFL can't afford to sack Doncaster not only financially but he also knows where the skeletons are buried ....... Ps , it's obvious the narrative was set in 2012 that Rangers were to blame for everyone else's financial troubles and the the other clubs were blinded by hate

Pondo Sinatra

Great takedown of that fckwit Doncaster, David! 👏🇬🇧

Robert Deavy

So basically Lawwell is Raging that his fat grubby hands will need to dig deep into his pockets to pay Rangers…for costs (this will come from the 11 SPFL clubs) Well that’s the penalty for hiring a muppet with an awful hairdo to run things Although patsy has served the yahoos well (zoom title 2020) for example

dotty 84

Sima, Dessers, Danilo and Lammers. What a potential window for our forward line.

mark Fullerton

Ideal situation this year would be to qualify for UCL,secure third place in the group and go into the ECL.

Rona Bluebell

I’m struggling to bring myself to comment on that Doncaster deal. Truly shocking stuff.

Max Todd

Personally, I’d prefer a good Europa League campaign with likely football after Christmas and qualification for the World Club Championship than another re-run of being the whipping boys in the CL against clubs we have no financial hope of matching.

David Innes

Great tune! Also you are right about Doncaster it is pure corruption- I just wish fans of other clubs didn’t have such a blind spot about who’s interests he’s here to serve.

Robbie McCarroll

Great info on World Club, need to see that posted stats are great even better when someone does the leg work 👍

Rod

Such a defeatist attitude, one bad campaign and you want to take your ball and go home?

Rod

It's actually hilarious to think Doncaster has double the notice period that the CEOs of BP and HSBC have. 😂

Scott Franklin

Is it extremely wishful thinking to hope we get Dessers AND Danilo? Gut feeling is it’ll be one or the other.

Hamish Rankin

Thanks for the info on the club World Cup, what an amazing opportunity for Rangers. Do we think this has all arisen from the Saudi money and their inability to compete in the Champions League (the most lucrative football competition on the planet)?

Tommy

Appreciate Graham’s input on the Club World Cup but I’m not sure his info is fully correct. We are not competing with Bruges and Salzburg, it’s Scotland competing with Belgium, Australia, Serbia etc We need to do well, but we also need the beggars and the sheep to get a few wins too. Scotland needs to rank in top 9 in coefficients, if it doesn’t then we are out no matter what we do. Won’t be easy as the likes of Belgium and Austria are doing well and not reliant on one or two teams. The point is true though. It is transformative for our finances and also the prestige and reputation for our club. This may not come around again. It’s been helped by us having to play so many qualifiers back in 2019 and 2020. That was a bit of an anomaly that may not happen again. It’s a bit of a twist of fate, let’s hope we capitalise on it.

Max Todd

Mate - I’m 62… I’ve probably seen more bad Euro seasons than you! It’s my personal opinion but you might need a reality check re the finances needed to compete in the CL. Listen to the logic in the podcast.

Paul Williamson

As an old cynic, much as I would love to see us compete in the Club World Cup, there are issues I have with it. We cannot as a support moan about modern, financially driven football and then jump on the latest money-maker the Zurich gnomes dream up. Are we really like that? Also as I watched over the years our club getting marginalised in the Euro cup by the money men because we did not have the appeal of the “big” clubs, does anyone believe that attitude will change in an even more lucrative competition? As for Doncaster, he is a contributing factor in the spiralling standing of Scottish football amongst our peers, which also feeds into the football authorities opinion of us not being lucrative enough in the global market. Moan over, sorry about the negativity.

Ross Matheson

The issue for smaller nations is that progression leads to more teams qualifying for the competitions and then when the two or three teams who can compete have five or six from their league in Europe, the work is all diluted. The key is to make sure we continue to progress to 1/4s and 1/2s at least as often as possible to keep ahead of the other smaller nations. Is it not the club ranking that counts (beyond the fact more than two teams from a single country that gets in) as Graham said? Beyond the last 4 CL winners, it's the 8th best ranked teams from the last 4 years of co-efficients.

Ross Matheson

Think we can moan about certain elements about it but at the same time, not cut our nose off to spite our face in a market we can't control anyway. If we can get involved in this, it could be a real boost for us. Better on the inside of the tent p!ssing out etc...
