Before I listen I just want to say, I had the best day at old Trafford with my old man, yes the rain frustrated us but we got to see some action on day 4. Obviously got the usual why you jocks at the cricket. 😂 Ultimately the weather has played a massive part in the Australias retaining the ashes but we have all been entertained along the way. On to the oval.

Fair play England, thought it would be a whitewash but credit to you guys. You fought back valiantly 👏

England need to remember that winning is all that matters in sport, play good cricket all you want, if you don't win then it counts for nothing.

Thanks guys and gals. Enjoying your coverage of the series 😍 This is my first test series of following cricket. I have been thoroughly enjoying it. However………. This wether issue has really put me off cricket! I appreciated Davies comments about cricket reflecting British life and I agree to a certain degree. But one of the things that appeals to us about sport is that someone wins, someone loses. Black and White. The opposite of real life. I can’t understand how you can play for a potential 25 days and still end up with a drawn series. This is madness. You get a draw in a football league match, fair enough, someone still wins the league outright. Would we have 55 titles if the rules were we will potentially play 90mins but you know we might blow the final whistle at 55mins, 75mins whatever…. Anyways. Rant over…. I understand there is no definitive solution to this problem. But I doesn’t help test cricket, especially at a time when it’s fighting for its survival…

Great pod and enjoyed the series other than the weekend. Off to the Oval on Saturday and really looking forward to it and seeing a positive result for England to tie the series. Test cricket is wonderful.

Two-part question for the Ashes podders: what is your favourite cricket song, and why is it The Sweet Spot by The Duckworth Lewis Method?

George Millar

Agree with Laura regarding Man of the Series. Plenty of cameos, but no outstanding displays throughout the series.
