Cifuentes will be good to go, MLS isn’t on a mid season break, there playing a cup competition against Liga MX, and they’ve just finished the group stages. My main worry is we burn him out as he’ll of been playing since March through till next May/June!

Martin Boyd

Sakala would get 10-15 goals a season , if he plays. We have spent big up front and I expect all the players we have signed will score the same if not more than Sakala. Re league 1 it’s haremscarem with moments of football, very physical sometimes some big quick players as well. Good luck to the lads although not against Cambridge please.

One of the girls from HAIM was in a really good movie called Licorice Pizza that was out a couple of years ago. It's well worth a watch if you haven't seen it already.

Mark

Jet lag might be a factor also. I always get it really badly when returning to Glasgow.

David Campbell

The 2 misses at hampden where unforgivable from Sakala. Best he moves on

Doug

Despite 'those misses', Sakala actually is one who has contributed in big games. In the past two seasons, alongside Tavernier, no one has has more Goal Contributions vs Celtic than Fashion Sakala. He always turns up, always creates. I think where the quality issue comes in more, is that he'll make 4/5/6 chances for himself or others... but we may only get one goal out of that, where really we need at least two or three. I think he'd be an excellent member of a squad that isn't reliant on him, and we've had to rely on him too much while others have been coasting (Kent, Morelos...). But given the investments in the team this year, and the obvious hope that they will turn out well, I think £3-4m for him would be excellent business given he cost us nothing.

3m is great money for sakala, I’m surprised we got that amount, so erratic, can’t be really decent and awful but overall not good enough for me

Gregg

Take the money and run - preferably not straight into a defender.

Ross

Cifuentes will need to be signed by 10pm tomorrow for CL squad

Ryan Stewart

Sakala is such a funny one. You’ve got fans saying £3M isn’t enough and there’s others who would snap your hand off for it 🤣 Personally I’m somewhere in the middle. He’s not one id be chasing out the door, but also if we get a decent offer I wouldn’t lose any sleep over him leaving either. £3M seems about fair to be honest

Russ

I would've had Trusty for the £5m over Danilo by the way. If we do get a good sum for Sakala please go and get a LCB, for my and everyone else's mental health.

Think your assessment of Sakala is spot on and I hope its the start of a new approach to transfers. I would bin all the conditional players (he’s good if fit / on his game / on his day guys) and focus on those who can be trusted, have the attitude and deliver consistently. If we sign guys like Sakala who have some of the qualities but are lacking, thank them and move them on before it goes stale or they leave for nothing, bin the sentimentaliy. Fashion has a cracking attitude and clearly an infectious personality but he his contributions are only seen as good against a back drop of some terrible seasons of goal return from forwards, his stats in a past Rangers team (possibly even other decent current SPFL teams) are poor for a forward. A guy we took a punt on, we got some returns but they weren’t ever going to be enough, thank him and move him on. To me it actually shows a positive side of our recruitment / squad management to get back some cash and realise he isnt a good fit as we have kept on and persevered with too many under performers in recent years some of who were taking huge wages for practically zero output. Wish him all the best but miles off the quality needed so hopefully he cash’s in on the Saudi money. Lets hope Cifo is the missing midfield piece that turns tidy into effective and gives some much needed directness and drive, looks a great signing on paper but the games not played etc

Graham Jones

We probably take the money for Sakala. He cost us nothing, and we’re making money on the deal. However, we might miss his goals, especially until the new players bed in. He’s a solid fifteen goals a season, despite the fact he’s never been a natural starter for us. we have no idea whether Cifuentes will be an upgrade or not. That will come with time. I’m always cautious about new signings after the crap that Wilson fed us every summer. The signings this summer look more targeted for the positions we want them for and the roles they that Belle has planned for them. Beale is still unknown as a manager, but he has operated incredibly well this summer. It’s been like the old days where the manager is running everything. The board are probably in a dilemma regarding what sort of DoF they need to employ. You don’t want a pen-pusher, but more of a football oriented person who can push pens for the manager.

Billy Forrester

Great business for Sakala. A player I do like but also get so angry with, does the hard things really easy and then the easy things he does terribly, those sitters against that mob were harder to miss than score and unforgivable. He simply cannot be trusted in a big crucial game. Seems like a top guy who is always smiling and I’m sure doesn’t give the manager a moments trouble so he leaves with best wishes. He is not a bad player, just not a really good player who can be relied on in the big moments.

Russ

David I know you've spoken about fans and the 'scorched earth policy' but if we're talking about big game mentality and aptitude I.e. cup finals, Europe and Old Firms then by rights players like Tav, Goldson and Barisic need punted ASAP.. I'd maybe say Goldsons record is passable but Tav and Barisic have had some absolute shockers down the years, even under and post Gerrard. Cup and European final losses, the 2 defeats in the cups in the 55 season sends shivers down my spine and the rest. Sakala gets it harsh I think, he's tough to watch but no one since we've come back up has stood up consistently in the big games. Not to call you out like haha.

Brian Rae

Salala's numbers alone suggests he's a 5m pound player and that's what the club should be aiming for. Do we replace him with a young squad player? We definitely need that type of player who can change a game from the bench. I know we now have a lot of forwards but I'm not including Matondo and Roofe for obvious reasons and the squad will be weakened by the departure of Sakala. I say this as it looks like all apart from Sima will be first pick but maybe that's the plan. Alternatively, there's now an opportunity now to sign a CB that easily walks into the starting line up.

Jamie Kirk

Sakala has a decent scoring record v Celtic. I like him.

Norm

Not sure Sima is an upgrade on Sakala
