I genuinely don't get why anyone expected a tactical change this season. Beale is responsible for the tactics we've used since 2018; Gio only really had the chance to tweak what we were already doing rather than making major changes. Nothing about the preseason lineups suggested he was going to change what he was doing. The worrying thing is he seems to genuinely believe it's been successful and the squad just needed refreshing this summer.

Can understand the frustration Adam has tbf. I listened to The Advocaat Years during pre season and the lads agreed that when a manager starts belittling or showing contempt for a supports understanding it usually only goes one way. Beale is honest but looks more of an honest fool in these situations rather than someone who can appraise in a fair manner like Gerrard. I still back the man like, 4-2 Rangers tonight.

Mental that they are willing to pay so much for average players. Good for us in this instance but won’t be long before a Saudi club swoops in and outbids us for one of our key targets. I’d be interested to hear views on possible long term implications of the ‘Saudi revolution’ for European football - future topic for the Forum maybe?

Have a look at what’s happened in golf - it’ll probably happen in tennis next. They want power and influence and will likely use their league as a bargaining chip with the big leagues, UEFA. Expect a Saudi sponsored super league/ champions league etc in the next 5 years

I think UEFA will be very worried about what’s going on- if we get to a point where the Champions League no longer involves most of the worlds top players then it could blow a massive hole in their sponsorship revenue

Aren't a lot of football wages reported as net rather than pre tax in the UK though? Haaland won't be taking 50 odd % tax on 500k a week for 250k for example. Someone tell me if I'm wrong like.

Adam your absolutely spot on with your question at the press conference, if Mr Beale can’t face facts that He! And the team got it wrong at the weekend, then I think his future won’t belong. From where we sit within the first five ten minutes of the game we know what type of game we’re going to get and I guess it’s the same for you. If we can see it, how in Gods name can the Manager not see it, should he have someone in the stand observing, and IF? there’s a plan B switch too it!

We've lost 66 goals from our squad last year. 30 from Côlak & Sakala alone. Within that we've also lost 33 assists, 11 from the latter two players. I really hope we aren't taking our eyes off what we have by being too quick to focus on what could be. We've taken a huge risk replacing everyone at once so it’s quite right to say the pressure is on the new players. Ideally I think I’d have kept Côlak & Sakala in the squad initially, but with good offers coming in for both it’s a risk we perhaps had to take.
