Steven, Kev, Strider, well done on a great pod. Interesting point re Lovenkrands - not impressed when he first played on the wing under Dick but a revelation playing through the middle under Eck. I recall when his contract with us was coming to and end and he was negotiating with Schalke 04. He had agreed to let Martin Bain know what wages Schalke were offering and if Rangers could match them he would stay at Ibrox. When Bain heard the figure he said, “sign the contract!” I think it was 3 times what Lovenkrands was on with us. A sign of how we were falling down football’s food chain. Strider recalls the frequent pay-offs for misfit players in the Murray/ Bain era. I remember in early 2004 there were four in the space of a fortnight - Ostenstad, Emerson, Nerlinger and Capucho. Ross Wilson’s tenure as DOF has been trashed to the nth degree on this site, but in his final summer transfer window he got fees for Itten, Katic, Middleton and Simpson and we got a fee for Bacuna in the previous January. This summer, with money from Sakala, Colak and Mayo, the compensation in respect of Tillman, sell-ons in respect of Ross McCrorie and DIre Mebude, then if the mooted fee for Kamara materializes then we should be close to break even. Beale at today’s press conference was playing down the financial gap between the Champions League and Europa League. I remember that lot having to make major sales when they failed to qualify for the UCL group stages - Dembele in 2018, Tierney the following year. I think our board is sensible in seeing UCL money in terms of the cherry on the icing on the cake.

I mind we thought we getting Carew and got Egil, and he was god awful 🤣. Seem to recall laughter when he finally scored in some dog meat mid-week league Cup game.

David Kiltie

Yes, he scored v Forfar in the League cup in October 2003, the only game we won that month. The only other one was v St Johnstone in the next round. Nerlinger IIRC scored twice at Pittodrie on his debut - I thought he could have been a great player but then injury struck. Capucho had torn that lot to shreds in the Champions League in 2001, but he was on a downward trajectory when he joined us. Nowadays we are all very keen on our “stats”. His goals/assists numbers in his time with us would not have looked too bad but the “eye test” said we had signed a flop.

FF and Rangers twitter has been terrible for slating the new signings after they have barely even played. I'm actually starting to despise the online personas of some of the more prominent wingnuts who shitpost on there. The treatment of Dessers in particular - until this week - has been beyond the pale. Danillo will likely be next in the crosshairs.

On Matondo do you think that we thought that Kent would be sold as he was in the last year of his contract and he would replace him on the left and maybe he was told that and spat the dummy

David

When did the video start? I honestly just noticed the link. I was going to ask for the slides and found the video. Nice one, like the additional numbers and graphs 👍. Not how I pictured you all 😂😂😂

Kev Armstrong

We done a live show at the start of the season and people loved the slides so have just went with it.

I think people have made their minds up on Sima and then only notice evidence that supports their view. I thought that was his best game in a Rangers shirt. Provides a good out ball, direct, runs at the defence. Admit his final product isn't great but he causes them some panic and his pace always needs to be taken in to account by the opposition. He also puts in a great shift acting as a left sided forward in attack but a left sided mid helping to defend.

Love this pod guys when it’s you three. If you’re going to rotate podders do it on cup games 😂
