Have you lads followed the discourse online after the Noah Lyles presser? Seems like he's touched a nerve with a few. I agree with what he's said by the way, I've always thought the American sports have been disingenuous with calling their champions 'world champions' (even if they probably are the best in the world). What do you think?

Don’t have a problem with the NBA Champs saying they are ‘World Champions’. Think it’s pretty self-evident. Obviously there’s not a tournament to determine it (yet 🤔) but let's be honest, it would be a foregone conclusion. Suppose like the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Champions League winner wins every year, unless they don't take it serious and a South American team sneaks it. They don't really have a South American to European soccer equivalent for Basketball though, the NBA is the be all and end all. Sure there’s leagues in Europe, Australian et cetera but the best and brightest and anyone with real ambition ultimately come to the States. About a quarter of the current NBA players are foreign born. Nikola Jokic who led the charge to the NBA Title this year is Serbian. MVP Joel Embiid is from Cameroon. the other main candidate for MVP was Giannis Antetokounmpo, who’s Greek of Nigerian heritage The No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft is a French bloke, Victor Wembanyama. And the Denver Nuggets are World Championees! 🥳

As for the other sports. It’s the World Series! These again are the best players in the world, between a 1/4 & a 1/3 of Big Leaguers are from Overseas, mainly Dominican, Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico, Canada, but also you’ve got Japan, South Korea even a few Aussies, so not having that either. And for American Football I don’t think the East Kilbride Pirates are running up the score on an NFL team, not even the Arizona Cardinals 😂
