Andy and Andy, well done on a super show which I listened to before consuming all the negativity about today’s performance. In terms of the possibility of a £1bn player it might be an interesting, if rather geeky, exercise to look at the landmark, record-breaking transfers over the years and compare to the turnovers of the world’s top 5 richest clubs at the time, to see if there is any sort of pattern. The financial stability rules set a limit on wages plus amortization of transfer fees as a percentage of turnover. A billion pound fee would equate to an amortization charge of about £200m so any club would need a colossal turnover to stay within the rules. You mention the difference between general inflation and football-specific inflation and sense that recent huge fees have hinted at a convergence between the two. Since the financial crisis Quantitative Easing has, for good or ill, been a common tactic used by central banks, which has increased the amount of money in circulation massively. How this has affected football would be an interesting discussion. Looking forward to the next show.

The wild card to the turnover to spend question relating to a billion pound transfer is that Saudi etc are not beholden to the sustainability rules.... As for the QA question 😂 I've not got a clue where I'd start with that.

Thanks,Andy. QE has means far more money sloshing round the general economy - perhaps that is a factor in narrowing the gap between general and football-specific inflation, but just a random thought! Interesting point re the Saudi league. At present they can make their own rules, but if long term the Saudis want to shed the image (fair or otherwise) of a money-soaked semi-retirement home for players who are past their best then perhaps they might have to adopt similar rules to Europe. Let’s see what the record fee is 10 years from now!

Another excellent show guys. A welcome distraction from our current problems. I believe we need to do better off and on the park, be open to new markets, and give our young players a chance to fully utilize the player trading model. And since we are such a patient lot, that won't be a problem! Haha. Do you think the European Super League will come back around again? Personaly I do.

Another great show. Thanks Andy & Andy, I always enjoy hearing your views and listening to your opinions. Calculated, rational and well balanced. More importantly realistic. Its a very interesting subject and a tough one to reference directly to Rangers. Player trading is not, and never has been, something we have done. The demands of our fanbase restrict player development and the hair trigger vitriol towards our own restricts that development even more so. As a result I dont believe we will ever get a successful trading model, bar the very rare occasions eg Hutton & Patterson, who in reality were bought by clubs in a desperate, panic buy mode who overpaid. Both managers gone shortly after. Successful exponents of player trading eg Ajax, PSV, Benfica, Porto and Dortmund have identical demands, clubs on a very short list of 2 or 3 realistically capable of winning their own leagues. Why can they do it and we cannot? Their fans understand and accept the concept of player trading, the huge financial benefits and its 'work in progress' drawbacks. Realism, understanding, tolerance and patience - for the greater and more sustainable long term good. Don't even have to look as far afield to see some other club who've cottoned on to the concept!

Another interesting and enjoyable list. One favour please - can you list even as an end side note the top five fees paid by Rangers for each position. Cheers Graham
