Sleep well and be at peace Jim 🙏 Yet another icon gone far too soon

Beautiful tribute Alan 👏 my dad was just telling me there that this would’ve broken my grandpa’s heart today. Another one of his heroes

Steve Clark

Lovely tribute Alan,I was extremely fortunate to spend an afternoon in Jim’s company in my mates house in NI.I sat transfixed as Jim talked us through his first two goals v Celtic and talked about celebrating in front of the rangers end at parkhead.

A wonderful tribute Alan. I was lucky enough to watch Jim Forrest for nine months or so up to his transfer. I totally agree with your assessment in regard to his treatment by the club in general and John Lawrence in particular. I’ve always believed that had he stayed at Ibrox we would have won the league that season thus stopping 9 in a row in its tracks and also secured victory in Nuremberg. RIP Jim. A Rangers legend. 💙

Bob MacCallum

Sad, sad news. In 1963, I attended my 1st Old Firm game at Ibrox in a League Cup section game. Jim Forrest had scored in the earlier 3-0 win at Parkhead and he scored in our 3-0 win that day. He made it look easy to score against THEM. Of course, it helped that he was surrounded by Baxter, Greig, Henderson, Brand and Wilson. A supreme goal-scorer, he probably would have won us that CWC final in Nuremberg. Should be in the Hall of Fame. The club should make that happen next year.

John Smith

I assumed he was already in Bob. That’s a disgrace. 57 goals in one season !

Graham Jones

My Dad always talked about that period, and the mistakes made by the club. They also sold Alex Scott, who you couldn’t put a price on these days. He went on to have a greta career down at Everton and for Scotland. They also scapegoated Alex Ferguson among others. Forrest was on another level according o my Dad, and selling him and Scott took a lot of quality out of the side. Henderson was a terrific player, but he wasn’t as rounded as Scott. It’s a failure of this club. We don’t give people a chance and have any patience.

Really feels like it's all set up to be one of those nights 😅. I don't think it will be tbh, think we'll win comfortably. Probably not by scoreline though. RIP to a Ranger

Even Sam English is in H of F and he had ONE great season. We even present the Sam English Bowl for top goalscorer at the Player of the Year awards.

Bob MacCallum

I saw these players. No fan mourned the loss of Scott because we all realised Henderson was far superior and had more years ahead of him. Even Scotland managers preferred Wee Willie once he came on the scene. Scott was a great asset, especially in scoring goals but Henderson supplied the ammo for Millar, Brand, Wilson and eventually, Forrest.

Colin Campbell

Really disappointing it might take a trigger event like this to induct Jim. When you consider Tavernier and more recent players are in without equal or more merit.

John Smith

No disrespect intended to Sam Bob but I’d say even David Mikeljohn as well as Jim would be more worthy of that honor. Though I’m not advocating for a change to be clear
