stephen

Steven Davis is interim?

Jordan McKay

Wasn’t to be. Thank you for your efforts Michael. Clearly loved the club but unfortunately that’s not enough.

Alan Cowan

Nice enough bloke but didn't have the credentials to be our manager.

Cal macleod

Good , let’s get this season back on track , it’s not too late

Gazza_Hendo

4 weeks too late but at least the board have taken action

Callum Dinnen

Nah. Good blokes don't pull the shite Beale pulled when Gio was still in post. Good riddance.

Michael James McLeod

Thanks for trying Beale! Unfortunately just not good enough for rangers.

Kai Armstrong

If those players let down Davis then I hope to god we storm the place like Ajax fans done last week

Chris Mackrell

The right decision, especially with the interim - they need to ensure they get it 110% right for the next one. Who ever it is, I will support them because I want what is best for our club.

Scott Gall

Quite gutted as I really wanted him to work out, but it's the correct call

Jane Ballany

It's never good to see a manager sacked as it means we aren't where we want to be. Need to get the next appointment 100% right as a revolving door of managers won't do any good. Players need to have a long hard look in the mirror!!

John Smith

The only possible conclusion. I’d get McInnes in until the summer and then attempt to pry the Muscat man away from Japan

Alan Murdoch

Unfortunately fell far short of the standard required. Wish him luck for the future though, as a decent bloke.

Ryan Stewart

We need a breaking news pod! 🤣

Craig Guthrie

Disappointed any of our managers gettting sacked..but…it had to happen after yesterday

Ryan Lynch

There's only one thing to do with Beale gone. Release Who Shot Mr Burns Pt 2

Nicky Cuzin

Best news of the season so far! Good luck to Steven and I actually wouldn’t mind him taking it full-time if he succeeds in the next few weeks

Spoon

Would get KT and Neil McCann in I get the inexperience but we have tried the uber coach (allegedly) and it didn’t work we need heart and people who know what winning domestically needs.

Graham McIntyre

I feel nothing but sadness, for him and the club, he is a decent bloke who genuinely loved the club but unfortunately it may just be that he is a better coach behind a manager rather than a manager. I am sorry it has come to this but it is absolutely the right decision. 😞

Allan Osborne

Not before time. I'm sorry, but people saying he was a nice guy and that. Nice guys don't do what he did to his predecessor while the man is still in place . Well, it's over now. It should have been weeks ago when we could save the season but as usual we hesitate. Rangers just HAVE to get it right this time.

Alan Cowan

Agree that was out of order but obviously done with the agreement of the board.

Brian Steel

About time, should've been gone before the last international break. We need to get the next appointment rite now.

Jeffff96

Don’t see the point unless we have someone lined up entering into a vicious cycle

Ross Whitehead

Rinse and repeat from last year. Will the board make the right decision this time round? I have my doubts!

Neil Wilson

Sad how it ended, but the majority of fans had made up their minds. Hopefully we take the proper amount of time to find the required manager. In the interim, you would hope the players will play for Davis, who is very well respected.

Kirk Guthrie

Wait like OUR Steven Davis? I imagine it's a common name so...

Greig Ward

The correct decision but feel a bit sad that it didn’t work for Beale but after yesterday there was no way he could continue. Hope Davis and Rae tell the players a few home truths starting with taking the captaincy off tav and giving it to butland.

Colin MacRitchie

Best of luck to Steven Davis in the interim, good decision to have a proper Rangers man guide the team through this at least until the dust settles.

Callum Gordon

Davis needs to be very short term , we cannot go into a semi final without a proper manager again

Mark Davidson

Steven Davis?? Really! A legend of a player and a rangers man but surely to fuck we could have got someone on an interim basis that has some coaching or management experience. Was Neil McCann and KT busy..

KennyY

Need to be spending our money on players not constantly paying off sacked managers and their teams. Need to get this next appointment right as well as getting rid of the so called stalwarts of this squad. This group of players isn’t good enough no matter who the manager is.

Mark Harper

Right move. Now who do we get thats the head scratcher. No real Rangers men out there who are good enough to manage Rangers sadly

Rod

In terms of Europe, UEFA rules state we have 60 days to appoint a qualified management team so we can't let this drag on for too long.

Leslie White

Now lets see how the new players react to Rangers Ex Players training and managing them

Steven L

No hard feelings to him but he’s a shite manager. Good luck to steven Davis and team. You’ll fucking need it.

Stevie Auld

Unfortunately it had to be done.

Stephen Grant

Here we go again , this has to be a proven track record this time , we cannot afford to get this wrong again

David Innes

Happy with Davis as the interim manager but we need a permanent appointment in place before the end of the international break.

Luke

Waiting for the emergency pod ......

Colin Baxter

Shame it didn't work out. Thought this season would go so much better.

stefan strzelecki

Thanks to Michael Beale for his effort . Best decision for all concerned, efficient by the board. I hope we can get a top manager. It’s evident that the players have regressed, a new manager can illuminate the failings of a predecessor . I think we definitely require squad renewal. I refuse to believe that the squad are as poor as recent showings. Hope potter is interested and willing to compromise.

Ross Fisher

Anyone thinking this was the right appointment in the first place needs help same folk now crowing that he’s gone

CJT

Glad it didn't drag on longer. Appointments make sense In the (very) shorterm. Badly need experience in the hotcseat. Fingers crossed. Meantime best of luck to the interim ream. If we an get the commitment these guys gave onto the pitch we'll do ok.

Bob MacCallum

I want to be the manager. I've been going to Ibrox for almost 63 years and........I've been calling DUD, Dessers, " Drossers" from week one almost. Most Gers fans at least know a proper player when they see one - unlike Beale apparently.

mark wyper

Hopefully they get this sorted quickly with the best management team they can get their hands on or it's the banter years again.

James Anderson

In the main its the players that get managers sacked. Lets hope the old guard of Tav, Goldson, Barasic, Lundstrum and Jack dont see off any more managers.

Bilko Katt

Can't say I feel happy about how this has ended, more just relief it's over. Good luck to Steven. 🔴⚪🔵

Andrew Hillis

Thank god! Had to be done and done swiftly! Thanks for your love for our club Michael but absolutely the correct decision in the end! However, The current non football oriented Board don’t fill me with confidence that they know who to appoint permanently! Bisgrove and Bennett are commercially focused which is needed but without a Director of Football Operations they will struggle to make the right football appointment on their own! Love Davis - Alex Rae’s coaching record is abysmal though! However, a wee bit of passion from the dug out can only be a good thing in the short term! 💙🇬🇧

keith wright

Whilst i don't like to hear anyone has been sacked, This has to happen, I hope Steven Davis manages to get a tune out of them!

Brian Moore

Hopefully this is all the shit out the way, we can move forward as a club and start to enjoy being a Rangers fan again. Because since 55 it’s been horrible being a Ger. I’ll stop supporting but how they test me. Hope everyone is happy with the decision by the board. ❤️🤍💙

Gordon Millar

Please appoint the best experienced coach that we can afford, this is the most important job at the club.......no more rookies and please have Rangers/Scottish presence in backroom staff who knows how to win in this backwater of a league

SDF

Sad it's came to this. It was clear he loves the club but he absolutely set fire to his long term future from minute one of pre season. And the most galling thing is he abandoned his plan and panicked. Can't even tell himself he failed on his own terms. What a waste of 11 months. Mind you, if we acted a week earlier then Inveness might still be searching for a manager....

James Anderson

Would have like to see Kevin Thomson in the interim team, he would kick ass.

Brian Rae

Relieved is an understatement as I genuinely didn't think they had the balls. My worry now is who they go for because we can't continue this process of having a manager come in mid-season for 10 months and then sacking them. This will be one of the most important appointments in our history because they keep getting free entry into the riches of the Champions League while we are consigned to the Europa, creating a further financial gap. What will need to happen next summer is a proper rebuild and not the papering over of the cracks of this summer. Ideally, we appoint a sporting director within the next week and then appoint a new manager within the international break. One thing is for sure, from the boardroom down, a massive improvement is required.

David Kiltie

I remember on a recent pod the overlord made a quote from The Sopranos - better to do the wrong thing than to do nothing at all (forgive the rough paraphrase). A heretical thought along these lines - would it have been better to have had an unpopular DOF in the shape of Ross Wilson still in place, rather than have this key role vacant over a crucial period of rebuilding? It has been pointed out how much control over the process Beale, an inexperienced manager has had, and we are now living with the hugely disappointing results.

Simon Botterill

On pitch culture needs completely overhaulled and it needs to be a manager who can achieve that, proven track record and builds a win at all cost culture.. And if KT is not in that door this week questions need to be asked.

David Clapperton

The statement said the process is already underway to get a new man in. I hope it’s well down the line coz we all seen this coming for ages so if they just started looking today it’s a dereliction of duty. How much faith do we have in them?

Jordan Murray

Get Tav n Goldson to fuck aswell please.

Jock Paterson

Best news since, last November 😳

Stuart cunningham

Whoever sanctioned the dross he signed needs sacked also. Should have been gone weeks ago

Callum Gordon

The other point to be made with Davis as interim manager is that he has played with the majority of this team , will he be ruthless enough with “ mates “ ?

Ryan Fairfield

Would like a wee pod on this tonight.

Gary Shaw

We’re stuck with a group of players that are embedded in mediocrity and all our big summer signings are worse than the players that left with the exception of the gk….even getting to the summer we only have 5 players out of contract so the new manager won’t exactly have a clean slate….I honestly can’t see how anyone gets a tune out of these players that have failed miserably year on year apart from a season were we had no crowds at games.

Paul Kerr

Interim team is a bit more low key than I would have expected but we move on. Response on the park from the players is what we need now.

Ross T

Decisive action from board. Happy with Davis as interim boss. Good to see us taking our time now. New era starts now. Here we go again..:)

David J Leslie

We are back in the banter years troops. I fear this is going to be an annual thing. Correct decision but does anyone seriously believe this board will pick the right man for the job? For one nobody of any substance will go anywhere near this squad. The board will go on twitter and gauge who the fans want (again) and pick him.

David Clapperton

Another problem with Davis is that he still wants to be a player when he’s fully recovered. He’s no going to go in there and upset the Apple cart with his mates that are the old guard coz he hopes he’ll get to go back in there in a few months n train with them again.

Piggott

The answer is no, short of options with injuries and caretakers normally don't change much, am just glad not davie mccallum again

8luenose1872

Pretty sure u only need a manager with a pro license, don't know if Davis has one but Mcallum has one if we need to use him on a temporary basis until we find the right guy or if Davis and Rae do really well then until Davis gets one.

Scott Dickson

I think we need a manager who has the following: Experience, managed in multiple countries and a clear attacking style that has brought them domestic success. Hassenhuttl is probably the one I could see us landing who ticks all of the 3x

David Innes

I don’t think we’ll appoint McInnes nor do I particularly want him to be the Rangers manager but I think there’s a case to be made that he’s the least worse option of the realistic names I’ve heard banded about so far. The relative success he’s had in Scotland on very limited budgets is arguably on a par with what McLeish had achieved before we appointed him although in Eck’s case he was working with some far better player in Sauzee, Latapy etc.

David P

I believe this is the correct decision and it's the one I've been asking for. I can't help but feel a twinge of sadness though. At the end of the day Michael Beale was not up to the task of being the manager of Rangers football club but he clearly wanted to be. He showed a level of commitment by moving his family up here and making his coaching team do the same. On a human level I feel sorry for the guy. Nothing comes before the good of the club and for the good of the club he had to be removed. I feel very let down by the club over the last few years. Today is a day that shouldn't have happened and has only happened because of poor management at boardroom level. I keep hearing this is a different board room. Let's see them prove it now.

Lynsey Roddy

Glad to see him gone although I’m getting fed up of the annual October/November manager hunt we are now apparently making an annual event as it shows the club in a bad light. The board has to appoint the right guy now & not be swayed by fans calling for the latest flavour of the month, (eg Muscat), & find a competent, proven manager/Head coach & not give them free reign over the entire footballing side if things, we need a proven director of football too.

Blairo

Always sad to see a Rangers manager sacked but there was a real lack of play style and piss poor results. The next guy will have to work with this squad, I don’t see them getting money. Need to get the next permanent appointment right.

Allan Osborne

This is my fear. They'll look at who's the top of the FF poll and go for him, same as the last two.

Jim Milne

Jack, Lundstram & Barasic are all out of contract at the end of this season. None should be renewed. In the case of barasic he should be sold in January. Tav & Goldson need to be transitioned out of the team this season. I'm tiredAF of the same bottlers constantly losing to them and telling us their disappointed. Make Butland captain and make it known to Tav and Goldson they are not guaranteed starters.
