Yes , priority is to get that league cup back where it belongs. Was at all those finals apart from DJ 's , great days. How's about a wee Indies classic next week .Altered images_ see those eyes Ah Clare grogan.

Great stuff Alan and a nice wee drop in from the Progfather too … albeit in his pop phase …;-) PS … youre damn right about DJ. My first Rangers hero.

Was so close to playing him singing the Lamb lies down in full Rael punk mode at Rockpalast in 1978

….. lol … you have a wider audience of younger people to think about Alan :-))))

It is fascinating re the whole league cup is our cup. In 70’s and before it would be the Scottish cup with the league cup being more for the them. Obviously 80’s and 90’s changes that

Absolutely and as we were growing up, the Scottish Cup or in England the FA Cup, just seemed to be the one everyone wanted to win. Lord knows, it would just be great to return to winning either, and on a regular basis too. Even down south now the FA cup final seems diminished with timings of finals and the emphasis now on European success.

Great stuff Alan. An iconic game with an iconic player. I was in the Main Stand at Hampden that day right in line with the penalty spot at the Rangers end. I’ll never forget that goal. We gave them a roasting overall. McNeil and Clark got battered by DJ and Stein. And what about the tunes and films from that period. Vintage stuff indeed.

All during my school days we just expected to make the final every season . Ten out of thirteen I think 71-83 And they were huge occasions Both sides of the border in the 70’s Probably my age but you could name a rangers Scottish cup final from then and I would immediately know the English final teams

Magic memories Alan - my claim to fame is going to high school and changing the spelling of my name in fan boy of big DJ 🫣 In furtherance of the recent country dalliance - ever listen to wheeler walker jr.? https://spotify.link/yxMt4vetaEb … maybe not for network consumption as you’ll get chucked off !! Keep up with the car info - that’s the chat I live for 🚙 (Dolly sprint loyal)

Fingers crossed we get another great performance and result, have a great birthday weekend. Don’t feel guilty about hospitality, I’ll be ok with my steak pie in the Enclosure.
