Colin,I’m with you on Shankland,he just doesn’t excite me and it’s nothing to do with Scottish snobbery but the irony in you saying you don’t think he could score in the big games V them slightly tickled me; he scored more in ONE game against them than our record European goalscorer did in 6 seasons against them and you can also throw popadom hips Roofe into that aswell.

I remember seeing Mols in a friendly against Livingston not long after he signed - I spent the night raving about him to all and sundry in the boozer. He cannae be that good was the common consensus. How wrong they were. He was absolutely electric. What a player. Mind there used to be hundreds of Utrecht fans at our home games - always had a wee soft spot for them. Sure there was a load of them in Eindhoven when big Jorg got his winner

Your point about Shankland possibly only scoring against teams in the Scottish league. We have lost three league games already this season and I'm sure Shankland could have helped in those.

On the out of contract players - we shouldn’t be rushing to judgement on any of them. Blank sheet of paper and all that - if any of them sign pre contracts elsewhere - so be it. If they want new deals they need to perform consistently till the end of May for me

My best mate is a bit of a football geek and he used to watch the Everdise highlights on Channel 5 at midnight on a school night and I remember him raving to me about this guy that plays for Utrecht and how he wished we could sign him but we wouldn’t be able to afford him coz he was that good 😂

Spot on,Gregg…if you were going on recent performances then Lundstram,Jack and Balogun would all be worthy of a shout but we’ve seen spurts and starts from these guys before….it needs to be another solid 6 months of those types of performances to even be considered.

Shankland is a Rangers fan and scores against Them, Hibs, Sheep and Us. And Georgia. He was the best player on the park against us at Ibrox a few weeks ago. Get him signed!

Shankland I would take in a heartbeat and having watched him in Europe with Hearts I believe he would surprise a lot with his quality, Spot on with out of contract players tbf

Shankland would get a barrel load of chances for us and he can finish so u would have to think he would score a load too. I think he deserves a chance to prove himself but only if the price is right but u know hearts would rather lose him on a free than give him to us for a fair price.

Colin its funny that you always bang on about the snobbery in regards to Scottish talent on quite a few pods but u have been just as guilty at that in regards to Shankland considering his goal stats and his hold up play is very good too. He was decent in Europe for hearts but can only be judged in higher European competitions with us if he got a chance. If u can finish chances like he can then I don't see any reason why he couldn't in Europe if we made him chances. He would still score a ton against the jobbers in our league and that would be worth its weight in gold when it comes to winning titles imo.

He wouldn't of got a shout from Ayr and would've got punted 1 - 2 yrs after signing. This is based on who was in charge at the time, players we already had, style of football getting played and the direction we were going.

The time for Shankland was five years ago. We’d now have to spend millions to get someone turning thirty during his first contract with us. Let’s find the next Mols before someone else does.

Think it’s all a bit silly pal - that was the point. We need to be better at scouting for sure but no one was desperate for us to sign Hickey, Doig, Ferguson et al and to say otherwise is revisionism

Great Rangers teams over the years always singed players from other Scottish clubs, Body, Naismith, Canigga, Davie Robertson the list goes on. I was desperate for us to sign Ferguson but there was a lot of fans who said he wasn’t good enough, that’s aged well

Yeah - Ferguson had really kicked on. Is that because of the training, better lifestyle, different style of play. Guess the sliding doors moment is do Hickey, Doig, Ferguson develop in the same way if they come to us. The time to get Ferguson was when he left Hamilton IMO. We should be taking these guys earlier and hoping to get 1/3, 1/4 of them working out. See Bailey Rice from Motherwell
