This squad are individually and collectively regressing, players that have been great servents to the club but are past their best, others that beale brought in with poor past records and we can see why they just don't cut it , it's another rebuild on top of a recent one imo that will be difficult financially, sorry can't see this lot taking us anywhere fast.

Linda Mackay

I agree with Alex about the last 2 games being different. Whilst there were issues with the performance in Aberdeen, particularly the way we started, we should’ve beaten Aberdeen convincingly. We didn’t because of our inability to take clear cut chances. The performance on Thursday was awful but again we could’ve won the match if we’d taken our chances in the 2nd half. Yes we need to defend better but we simply do not score enough goals and that was supposed to be addressed in the summer by Beale’s signings. Wasted money on 2 front players who have a history of not producing good numbers in front of goal. Midfielders and defenders (Tav apart) also do not contribute enough either on the goals front. The lack of clinical finishing I feel will probably cost us again this season. Just an opinion.

William Cameron

Alex I wished I had your optimism but Steven is right. New manager bounce is over, things are absolutely horrendous, we are a complete bin fire of a club, the rebuild required is staggering. It will take us at least 2 years to recover from our current position unless we can find some sap to buy the utter dross we purchased in the summer. Over and above that, the rot within the core of this team to blow it even when faced with vastly inferior opponents has shone through again. I have zero confidence this team can get 3 points tomorrow never mind get a result in Spain or win the league cup. We are spiralling out of control. Clement hasn’t covered himself in glory this week but I have faith he is the right man, but these players in the lead up to the break are going to throw him under a bus then back it over him again. Thursday was as shameful a performance I have ever seen at Ibrox. We need a euromillions win before January.

Gary Shaw

Alex, you must see this is almost the 90s in reverse….manager after manager,1 OF humbling after another, stopped the 10 coz it mattered more to us to stop it than it did for them to win it,a poxy Scottish Cup and a strong end to the season and an OF win when they’ve already wrapped everything up and us saying , “We only need a couple of players coz that mob aren’t even that good” for the same pattern just to unfold the next season.

Gary Shaw

The majority of this team are bog standard players…the best gauge of where we’re at is if you watched our players but put Motherwell or Hibs strips on them, genuinely how many would you look at and say, “I think we should go for him”?

Making Strides

It is the 90s in reverse - that lot are the stronger club as we used to be, we can't beat them through spending alone like we could then, and even if we do everything absolutely right, we are still second favourites as it stands in domestic terms. We're getting closer to making that more of a 50/50 situation, but if we keep just throwing out everything every few months because we're not beating that lot, the situation will just continue for longer than it needs to.

Douglas Innes

are we seriously playing at home Vs St Mirren with 2 defensive midfielders ? why not 4-1-4-1 with the front 5 comprising of Sima lawrence cantwell and MaCausland supporting Danilo ? i type this with Newcastle away to play Man Utd with a 17 and a 18 yr old starting in both respective sides, yes i understand they'll be different level teenagers for a different level of football but surely Bailey Rice is on a par with Cifuentes ? players like Cantwell will listen to coaches and like Alex hints at it seems to be not to Cantwells liking i'd also add we've saw less of Tav as time goes on in a general playing sense so is that down to structure within our formation ?

Gary Shaw

I get all that but can’t just keep managers in the hope that it eventually works out either…I’m not saying that’s the case with Clement (yet)…We seem to always think we’re getting close but as I said in my original post, that’s what that lot would always say….totally agree with Steven when he says about how long do we keep having to say this?….Our wage bill is higher than theirs and we outspend everyone apart from them and by some distance, yet continue to fail time and time again.

Steven Harvey

How can we have such a big wage bill but so little success? Absolute dereliction of duty from top to bottom. The manager’s time in France was an utter shambles and we can only hope this isn’t the same. Don’t get what he’s been trying to do last two games. Could be a long December at this rate 🙈

Andrew Whiteside

The summer recruits were ego run amok. Thinking you could get more out of players than others smacks of hubris. I believe the manager knows what he is seeing and I’m sure he knows what he needs to do. Therefore I want him to be given the time and space to do what needs to be done.

Angus Mackay

I agree, Andrew, I think that’s exactly what it was. It probably wasn’t helped by the spectacular turnaround in Cantwell when he came in. Bringing a player like Lammers, who clearly has talent but struggles with confidence, to Rangers was madness.

James McSween

I think Allan Campbell from Luton would do a turn for us. He’s been on loan at Millwall this season and is OOC in the summer

John Myles

I’m sorry but Ryan Jack should never play for Rangers again he should gave Scotland up ages ago, the pinnacle for me is Glasgow Rangers he chose Scotland over Rangers he could have played up a injury the last dead rubbers but he chose to go and run himself into the ground in training for Clark and comeback injured,by the way it’s not the 1st time he’s came back injury Ed from Scotland with limited minutes it’s the way clark trains them and he knew this .

Graham Leatherbarrow

I’m all in favour of the manager calling out ALL non performers, too many have been taking our club for a ride for to long. Clear manager gave all fresh start and wants team play, individuals are not needed, play together win together is the clear message

James McNeill

To be fair to Roofe and Dessers they were out warming up for a good 10-15 minutes on their own before Matondo came on. I have no idea why neither were used as Danilo looked kanckered

Lewis

It is blind, very blind, optimism at this stage to just have a positive end point for every single situation. Sadly it has been the same analysis we've heard for about a decade that things will be fine, everyone is doing ok. Sadly that decade has been barren in terms of success and things consistently haven't been fine. We are in a terrible mess right now with about £35mil wasted over the last 18 months on guys we will struggle to move on.

Gary Shaw

It makes people feel better I suppose….I get people are glass half full but I go by what I see on the park with my own eyes and for too long it hasn’t been good enough…every season apart from one with no fans,we have consistently struggled to see off the absolute dross in the League and that is just not acceptable.

Graeme Homer

Glad you’re back Alex. The doom and gloom brigade on the platform at the moment is depressing. Undefeated in 9, cup final coming up, Europe after Xmas, proven we can come back from going behind, all this with the worst squad since the 55 season. I still can’t believe the defence of Cantwell is basically Lammers is shit and he doesn’t like playing RM/RW. Rangers are bigger than him and should do the job he’s asked for go and be big fish at a smaller club. Grealish has dropped all the pish from his game under Pep and has became a better player and a successful one at it. Cantwell could take notes. Jack is our best mid, the stats don’t lie. He’s the biggest positive influence in the squad and we lose far more when he’s out. We should have replaced him long along ago but the glaring problem is Lundstram. We had a successful midfield that he was shoehorned into and ruined ever since.

Spoon

Time to get back to basics and start signing guys who can do it in this league instead of rehabilitating problem children like Cantwell, taking in the perma injured or hyping up expensive show ponies with zero output. In the last few games guys like Shankland and Shinnie have shown more than guys were spending 30k a week on. We turn our nose up at them like our diddies are tearing up trees. I agree with Strider on the levels and on the form dip. Components of the team like Sima, Lundstrum and Danilo were in a purple patch that has faded but writing off guys a dozen games into their careers seems rash. I fully support Cantwell being taken off, no time for prima Donna’s like him and he isn’t half as good as he thinks he is. He would do well to remember that he came to us from being frozen out at his last club for his attitude. I suspect part of the boards ask of PC is that he tries to utilise existing assets to save their blushes which is why we are seeing Lammers get game time. Unless they are going to back him with players in the window I can’t see how this won’t continue for at least another he rest of the season so it may be we need to get used to it. Stevie is correct Beales problems coming back to roost but ultimately this is on the board who backed his ridiculous transfers. Until we sort out our transfer policy and scouting this will continue, particularly given how negative our fans are about available local talent tried and tested in this league. We write guys off as ok for Scotland but not good enough for Europe as if that’s our bread and butter, let’s focus on winning leagues and building teams rather than worrying about Europe.

Gordon Mitchell

Playing two defensive midfielders may be to allow us to play more attacking players in other positions. It not just as simple as two defensive midfielders means we are setting up defensively.

Alan Anderson

Credit to Steven for having the balls to call out the board. Something that too many podders are suspiciously reluctant to do.

Alan Anderson

Anybody who’d rather have Shinnie over Cantwell doesn’t deserve an opinion on football 🤦‍♂️🤣🤣🤣

Heart and Hand

'Suspiciously' is a poor comment, you're calling out people's integrity and none of the podders have ever done anything to you to deserve that. It's a personal insult and it isn't on. If people don't agree with you - look at big Andy, an unapologetic board fan - it's not due to any 'suspicious reason'. It's because it's how he feels. No need at all to insult people Alan and that's what you did there.

Gregg

💯 this - gives us a lot more control of the game. Probably better saying deep lying - doesn’t mean you are playing defensively. Aberdeen last week was an example of it with cifu - had a decent game but positionally he’s a bit all over the place - perhaps by design - but you certainly lose something.

Gregg

Shinnie has always been a good player - he’d be sent off constantly for us if he played the same way, just as Ryan jack discovered. Not sure there’s a comparison with Cantwell tbh but wouldn’t have been against getting him from Wigan.

Gregg

I’ve heard the new fan advisory board is Davy Edgar, Hoggy and Cammy. They’ll look lovely in their new blazers 😂

Spoon

I quite like Shinnie and see him in the mood of Jack but with less injuries. Point is we see guys like him turn in decent performances week in week out but we over look them as only local talent. As you know my own big beat is we used to take in guys and develop them now we want to buy and play them without expecting them to improve. Don’t disagree with the sending off comment to be fair but we need someone like him in that role as it’s obvious our other options don’t give half what we get from Jack. I think the idea of getting a decent Scottish mid who knows the game here is also key.

Gregg

Aye - sadly we will need a really good scout as I can’t see one about. Couple of kids at Dundee look decent.

Spoon

Don’t know enough about what’s out there but we must start looking at local talent and not gambling on the idea foreign automatically means quality.
