I havent seen anything really from Shankland that excites me. For every 1x Killie Boyd Rangers sign there is 3 x Nicky Clarks Or Alfie...... Much like Balogun could be pushing against an open door. For me its get the boy Armstrong from Killie and play Sima through the middle.

Graham Roy

I was against Alfie coming back but a 6 month contract would he consider it?!

James Mcgill

Think this board will bring the bufflo back short term. Believe he is available free so that would suit them short term

Callum Dinnen

I loved Alfie, but I don't see any upside to bringing him back.

Alan Weir

If we “need to look at every option” and still end up with Morelos, then we must have the poorest scouting department known to man and the most short-sighted supporters.

Alan Weir

If we need to “explore every option” and still end up with Morelos, we must have the worst scouting department in all of football and the most short-sighted of supporters.

stuart wood

Scouting at Rangers = looking at previous Rangers calendars. "wonder what he's doing now...."

Samuel Campbell

Did souttar not start off as a midfielder? Maybe an option

Colin Mackenzie

Aye the boy Armstrong would do well in this team, think shankland would score a barrel load though

Gordon Mitchell

I distinctly remember Beale saying, on Fashions departure, that he had a good relationship with the player and that it was a deal he had to take for his family as if driven by Fashion. Guys a snake as well as a pish manager.

stephen

I'm not one of the seemingly growing list of people who have taken a real dislike to MB but with every passing story you have to wonder what the fuck was going on and surely some of this was known to those who's job it is to monitor such things?

Ron

Grass is always greener Alfie and Fashion still here instead of Dessers and Lammers …we’d be top of the league imo.

Alan Weir

How did we ever end up with such a charlatan? And I was quite keen when he arrived: apologies to everyone!!

Alan Weir

And Kent, no doubt, would be bombing down that wing providing assist after assist. I sometimes feel we get the dross we deserve.

Andrew Whiteside

If Morelos is fit I would take him till end of season.

Stuart McWilliams

I agree that a fit and motivated Alfie could do a job, but I wonder if his attitude last season burnt a few bridges with other members of the squad.

Paul

Absolutely not for Alfredo. He downed tools, allowed his physical condition to go. His attitude stinks.

Heart and Hand

He’s a good salesman is why. But to go back to what I ranted about, eventually talk runs out and all that’s left is the pitch. It doesn’t lie!

Jim McCutcheon

Good theory David about the bad luck thing 😁

Doug

News like that infuriates me and isn't what I want to hear about how our club operates. I had Beale in the "it's a shame it didn't work out" pile but that's moved him thoroughly into the "Glad he's gone" heap. I always felt we should have kept one of Colak or Sakala, with Sakala as my favourite. It was good business though so I don't fault the sale per say, but the utter failure in recruitment that followed makes it an error. Sakala (nor Colak) isn't a world beater but he is the type of player that's crucial to a title winning side. He had the same scoring ratio as Nacho Novo, plus a better rate of assists. Despite those two big misses, he left our fourth most effective player vs Celtic in terms of overall Goal Contribution and Chances Created. In my perfect world we keep him and sell Wright plus one of Matondo or Lowry to get that £4m. Alas it's not a perfect world though, so I just wish he'd been treated properly on his way out. We can debate his effectiveness as a player, but there's no debate about his passion for the club.

Alan Weir

I'm truly shocked David is ambivalent about a Morelos return. Morelos hasn't kicked a ball for Rangers in God knows how long; he was out of shape, slow and had a face like a fanny every time something went wrong or told he was substituted. And since leaving? Exactly as many suspected: injured and unfit; barely played; clearly on a downhill trajectory in his career. We are a binfire, train-wreck and car crash rolled into one if we can't find a better solution than Alfredo Morelos.

Alan Weir

The only thing that stood out for me about Shankland in the recent game was his astounding lack of pace.

Joe Baxter

Oh dear , let Hagi go, were bringing players who are better than him , still waiting , this is the same as Fashion , Beal had us all fooled big time , myself included

Stephen

It would be a new low of rangers awful transfer policy if we signed Morelos. We didn’t offer him a contract as he clearly had no motivation to play for us. He starts 1 game for Santos and spends the rest of the time injured! Will we ever learn? It would be a terrible idea to bring him back.

Greg

I would like Morelos back just to sicken that certain element of the fan base, I can feel the seethe already.

Charlie Nicolson

Very mixed feelings about Alfie. No doubt he let himself and us down in his last season. Yet, the following article is about Michael Beale's lack of man management skills. Leads me to the conclusion: If Alfie is available, cheaper in wage than he was, get him in on a 2.5 year deal and sell in summer 2025

Craig

Is there actually anything of substance to this Morelos talk? Its been fever pitch for the last few days as if the club have an imminent decision to make, but it just seems to be fans responding to Twitter engagement bait more than anything.

drgriffen

Shouldn't go anywhere near Morelos. His injury record and attitude aren't worth the hassle. If he is the best option we can get then our scouting system is a joke.

Alan Weir

I have pills I can send you for panic like that! Seriously, I see no benefit in moving backwards. I think Clement has made a great start, not perfect, but "perfect" is for daft computer games. Most of all, Clement has started to get Them under some pressure by closing the gap and bringing a freshness and motivation to a shambles. Morelos has shown that "freshness" and "motivation" are concepts from his past rather than his present or future. Unfortunately, I think Morelos will be here again; if he helps us win the league, I'll be happy to admit I'm a complete tit.

Alan Weir

Absolutely correct. Started one game for a relegated side: partly injury, partly crapness - two things we don't really need any more of in the current squad.

Alan Weir

The element of the fan base who want to see progress and maybe win things? Yep, what a bunch of tossers they are.

John Smith

Bring Alfie back for 1 last dance. Let him go out with a bang and lead us to the League, Scottish Cup and Conference League trophies

Stephen

And he would come back after his Christmas break needing about 2 months to get back in shape! Can’t believe people are even considering this. People always talk about getting the 2019 Morelos back but would they be wanting to gamble on bringing back Aaron Ramsey to see if he could get back to his form from 4 years ago too?! We need to stop looking back to the past.

John Smith

IF Mick Beale banned Fashion, that’s vile and repugnant behaviour from a guy I thought came across as a top bloke. Fashion is the nicest player in the game

Paul Kerr

76 mins 1 start. Based on that no. Absolutely not. But ye know... 😂😂 Totally agree.

Russ

There's been plenty of shitebags who looked like they hated playing for Rangers over the last 10 years, Fashion wasn't one of them. Gave his all even if his touch was ropey and shots were wayward at times. I'll always have time for him tbh, he deserved better. Saying that, just like Morelos, I wouldn't bring either of them back. The board talk about Rangers class when signing players, let's see some Rangers class when selling them too - they're not cattle at an auction.

Craig McCrimmon

Alfredo Morelos on a free when we don't have a functional striker, is a risk we have to take if it's an option, a short term deal with performance related incentives & we do it. It's actually quite exciting to think what an arm on his shoulder from Clement might bring.

Ian Andrew

Beal seems to be pedro mk2.

Fraser Martin

Mick Beale is a classless fraud and coward.

Craig

Should invite Alfie to train with us for next few weeks and allow Clement an opportunity to cast an eye over him...

Gary Brown

Thanks for the update David. Sakala. It was a good deal for everyone but terrible treatment of a player, not The Rangers Way! Morelos. Hey if he came and played for no money fair enough. Stole a wage for his last season! And dialed it in plenty times before. You can thank him for their 8IAR! No doubt being part of Beale's Buddies clique kept him playing when he clearly shouldn't have been. I'd guess there's another sordid story behind Colak's departure given the reaction to Beale's sacking. The winter window is notorious for being poor pickings. Shopping locally will incur the 'Rangers Tax' which will no doubt be hiked to an all time high! We need to get fully behind Dessers, Lammers & Roofe. They're who have.

Gregg

It seems like it’s quite a common thing in football to not let people you are wanting out train with the team - the bomb squad. Seems a bit wrong in general but it happens

Colin Carstairs

Be interesting if we do go down the loan market with the caveat that if you come you will be almost straight into the 11 if you are good enough as opposed to getting them in with a slim chance of getting tons of playing time…

Colin Mathie

On Alfie, no no + thrice NO!!

James Anderson

Totally agree with your assessment that it comes down to what we see on the pitch, and it has now become evident that Beale had lost the dressing room. This is why Clement should be very aware that there are a chorum of players in our dressing room who cannot be trusted. And on that same vane... Alfie.......naw!!!!

Spoon

100% the worst option to even consider. One season wonder whose attitude and application was dire for 3/4 of his time here. The whole of world football to pick from but let’s get the guy who downed tools back…… honestly despair at his type of talk

Spoon

100% correct our transfer business has been woeful and part of it is our obsession with looking back or taking on projects who have gone off the rails. Scout a prospect instead of obsessing about one season wonders.

Spoon

The same way we ended up thinking Kent was productive and Alfredo was a world beater. We delude ourselves since 2012 that we were still the same level of club we once were. Not that we won’t be again or we won’t get back we absolutely will but we as a fan base seem to have been so desperate to be back at the top level we pretended that we were signing quality or that our manager was a top coach when we had a first team guy and a bunch of academy muppets. We are slowly getting back to our level but for me we had a bit of the emperors new clothes going on where we all pretended we were great , signings top notch and our squads were class. We have some absolute dross through the doors since 2012 and some of it has come recently yet we ignore it. I get why but it’s holding us back, we shouldn’t buy into this idea the squad we have is as good as it gets, for our spend we could and should have better.

Ian

Any updates on Zac Lovelace

Gregg

Can we sign Alfie now or would we need to wait till January?

Christopher Fair

Sounds like Mic Beale was a bit of a shite bag in regards to Sakala

Greig Chambers

This and we need to get away from signing guys who have no sell on value. The 4th pillar will never work if we continually sign guys this age imho

Gordon Mitchell

Ha thats the one with the German knee dance thing. Brilliant. The first one and Christmas Vacation are also great.

Greig Chambers

It makes me really angry reading about Sakalas treatment by Beale, he wasn’t fit to manage Rangers and thats no way to treat anyone in any job. Sakala isn’t one of those who ever hid, you can argue about his quality but never his effort. So to treat someone like this, who all they done was try their hardest for us, is really quite appalling. Then add to it his signings, he should NEVER be welcome back at Ibrox in any capacity ever…fucking shameful. Fashion Jr is welcome back any time though, came across as a thoroughly nice and appreciative guy. Sorry for how it ended for you Fashion, that should never of happened at our club :(

William Hughes

Bringing Aldredo back? No from me. Guy never kicked a ball for us for just about 2 seasons. He'd chucked it. Surely there's other centre forwards out there.

Greg

You said it not me. The boy will always live rent free in the heads of some people.

David Innes

Cantwell out now - FFS. If he’s not back for Sunday we’re in serious trouble

Gavin Foster

Views on Beal are harsh. I wanted him and believed the talk. But he couldn’t walk it. We shouldn’t be ripping into him. I failed more than once. Did you?

David Carslaw

'Depends on Alfredo Morelos'. You answered your own question. We shouldn't ever be hoping for commitment from any player. 100% commitment is the bare minimum we should expect from players in the time they are at Rangers. Morelos has shown he can't provide that even when indulged as much as we did, so he shouldn't be welcomed back no matter how bad our striking options are.

David Innes

I think we need to bite the bullet and pay what Hearts want for Shankland. Especially given that Celtic are being heavily linked with Miovski

Robbie McCarroll

Pretty poor from Beale he has let both the club and Fashion down with his ‘management approach’ sorry to hear that. I always think bad managers find ways to annoy people for no reason, man management own goal !

Gary Brown

Agree. Think its easy to blame him for a lot when there are plenty other factors involved. I think it was too big a job for him at this point in his career. His staff seemed a bit small time too. Too many Gerrard era players know him as a coach and not the top man. So there's a base level resepct issue. Fickle revisionist fans. Go back to Ibrox OF in Sept. 'He lost, that was the end of him for me😡😡'. But 90min before that and it was all '😆😆we win and that lot will hound Rodgers out'. Managers need time to get their philosophy / tactics in place. Players need time to adapt to that. With an impatient & unrealistic fanbase he ran out of time. Everyone fails, has a bad day at work and most importantly can't be 100% for 100% of the time. That's reality, everyone knows that but for some reason simply cannot apply that fact to football. The Sakala thing is very worrying, and disturbing though. I'd have expected better of Beale, he didn't seem that type TBH.

Gregg

He was a popular appointment - and the majority of us were spectacularly wrong. Talk of no been welcomed back to ibrox is ridiculous and we should be above that level of pettiness imo. The sakala thing is something that happens in football - rightly or wrongly. We have done it many times with players however it does seem harsh
