He's given the yellow card because he knew it would be checked by VAR anyway, and upgrading the card would be less embarrassing to him than downgrading. Refs are making a mockery of what should be a useful system.

Besides blatant match-fixing/cheating, the 3 foreigner rule prevented us from winning a major European trophy IMO and in this day and age, It's ridiculous that a similar restrictive rule exists.

Imagine they just refereed the game - no trying to let things go to “let the game flow” keep players on the park. Would love to see an old firm game properly refereed - we might see some football played. It’ll never catch on

I would say with 99.9 % certainty a striker is top of the list, and the way our midfield injury list currently is I’d also say a midfielder also are the priorities

You’re right about the standard of Scottish football. I just find it amazing that it is takes so much talent and effort to become a professional footballer just to end up playing in a system that is all about kicking people and time wasting. Must be soul destroying for the players to be honest.

Souness’s comments were interesting, when he actually committed some of the worst tackles I’ve seen on a football pitch … one in particular against a teenage Icelandic (I think) player while playing for Scotland, which effectively ended the boy’s career !

The Scottish game needs leadership change. It’s been run into the ground at the behest of that other lot. We have a proxy board at the SPFL operating with instructions from Parkhead. If other clubs want to make more money from commercial deals, then they need to be the ones that demand it. The don’t seem to be listening to us. We’re hogtied into this pathetic TV deal with Sky. I have no gripes with Sky, because they were handed the opportunity to put the handcuffs on Scottish football by ourselves. We should be demanding to know why our commercial revenue is so bad compared to other countries that don’t have the same profile as we do. Why are countries like Denmark able to command much bigger deals for TV than we are? Until we increase revenue, then the gam,e is going to keep getting worse, no matter how many meetings we have about coaching. The referees are getting paid really good money for what is a part time gig, and they should be much better than they are. I wouldn’t want to be a referee, but they could be doing better than they are. I’m glad to see the home grown rule disappear next season, because these rules can do more damage than good. Leon King played in Champions League games when he wasn’t ready for them, partly because of that ruling. Have a good Christmas everyone. Here’s to a successful 2024!

I’m going to say this whilst we are all on a high so it doesn’t come across as being angry or downbeat after a lapse which there will inevitably be in the near future. The board must sanction a significant amount of money for a decent striker in January, we do that and we win this league, of that I am convinced. The board will be held accountable come May if we contrive to lose this league and we do not sign a Shankland or some other striker of that ilk. Let’s not regret not spending on something we desperately need that will pay for itself twice over if we do win the league. Make this a priority Rangers and we will have 56 come May 💙

Thanks for the update David. Merry Christmas to you & yours. And to the rest of the H&H team & patrons. Scottish football is dire. I watch Rangers. No interest in the rest. I've spared you all and deleted the massive rant I typed as to why (IMO) the game here is so shite. It was just waaay too long! In summary. No one whatsoever (except fans of the teams involved) is one bit interested in the game here. It is a horrible, barely watchable, unsellable product. So there will never be any significant TV investment. The hammer throwers are just one thing of many that make it unsellable but far too many Scottish fans, our own included, love that hardman crap. Dessers took a lot of stick until very recently. One reason he didnt have a good start was from the constant fouling allowable here which is unacceptable elsewhere with fouls given. His disbelief was clearly visible, particularly his appeals to the refs. He's struggled badly with accepting & adapting to that and its frustrated and disheartened him. This affected his game, his timing and his confidence.
