We asked Rangers if they would be taking any action and they have told us that they have asked for the audio to be released.

Sky Sports are also deeply unhappy that the ‘offside’ was not communicated to them as broadcast partners for forty minutes.

Sky Commentator Ian Crocker confirmed during the match that they can hear the officials discussion during the game and no offside was communicated at the time.

Comments

Robert Ryan

This will get very tedious, Referee this and Referee that.

Steven Wilson

Can we fans ask for the audio of Cyriel Dessers negotiations ?

John Smith

Good on the club 👏

Steven McNeil

But I thought that we get everything and the whole world was against them

Grant Watson

We know what the response will be

Luke

Surely Ian crocker mentioning they haven't heard anything about offside is quite damming ?

Steven L

And rightly so.

David Martin

Are the SFA required to provide it if requested? Ultimately it looks like the correct decision was reached as the offside would rule out the penalty award. But if Collum has looked at that handball and deemed it not to be an offence it seriously calls into question his ability/objectivity as a referee.

David

Good! They are cheating bastards and we need to keep outing them.

Glen Kane

Gollum cheated, pure and simple.

Craig Hart

Politics is Lawell's game. Watch him spin it.

Scott Tolmie

Well done Rangers, this will be interesting

Graham Ross

They have been caught out. Next, what about Walsh and his reluctance to book their players?

Dougie

A guy in our whatspp has just asked “what’s the point”? IMO it’s that reason why we’re so far behind them in the off field PR stakes!! If it was the other penalty area, the Nats in parliament would be having an inquiry first thing tomorrow 🤷🏼‍♂️

stephen

I wonder what rationale they will use to decline this.

Nom De Ploom

It will get tedious but something needs to be said to counter the intimidation they get put under. If they're getting nothing said to them then they'll continue to buckle like they did today purely because it gives them an easier life.

Thomas McVey

Saying nothing isn’t working. Look at that mob, they have referees petrified of giving any decision that goes against them

Heart and Hand

I find it tedious that we are being cheated on at least one major decision every Old Firm match to be honest.

chris smith

A conspiracy against rashellic you say …

Neil Wilson

Encouraging to hear, but given the corruption that is rife throughout the SFA and the SPFL, they'll no doubt spin it and their media poodles will shout squirrel. Another match where multiple incidents go in favour of them. A foreign ref sends two of their players off.

Andrew Hind

Good on Rangers for finally starting to call out this nonsense, interesting to see what happens next

Rod

"Oh FFS that's a penalty to Rangers......nah fuck that". Should just about cover it.

Jordan McKay

If the request is denied then I think Rangers (and Sky) would have legitimate cause to escalate, potentially legally.

Robert Deavy

This is absolutely stinking!! They know that a penalty should have been awarded (before any offside is looked at) We need to demand to know ow what reason a penalty was not awarded! Are Refs compromised due to the incessant pressure from those over at the Theatre of Shame? We need, no we deserve answers to this Also We need to Hound that cheating bastard Collum out of the game

Angela Frater

It would appear that the reffing team DID look at the handball and decide no penalty, because if they had concluded no penalty due to offside a free kick would have been given, but in play a goal kick (the initial award) was taken, which suggests they stuck by their on field decision (which was also incorrect as last touch was Johnson, but they can't overturn that without it being a penalty). Ultimately it looks like they simply got lucky and found the offside to justify their bad call, but the sequence of events in real time doesn't indicate the decision was changed to "no penalty due to offside".

Gary Q

We’re losing the PR war by fighting using yesterday’s rules. They’ve been running rings round us for years while we do the Dignified Silence nonsense.

Robert Deavy

What’s tedious is this happiness to accept this type of shit End the dignified silence

Angus Mackay

Spot on. The rot needs to be stopped. We have to fight fire with fire. Today shows that failing to do so is no longer an option. We have them bang to rights today, even those on the other side can’t deny it.

David Innes

Good - need to also ask for a written explanation of why the 2 x 2nd yellows weren’t given

Angus Mackay

It’s been a drag for a while Davie, but there’s a shamelessness about it this season that’s different. They’re acting like they’re untouchable, because they’re pretty sure that they are. The behaviour of the league over the ticket allocation was another instance of it; it’s almost like they’re saying “what are you going to do about it?”

John McMillan

100% this. We proudly declare we don't play the nonsense they do... but in the last 4 or 5 games we've had a stone wall penalty denied, they should have had 3 sendings off, and two legitimate goals chopped off. Their shit wins more points than our dignified silence.

Andy

Every single one of us knew the referees would give us nothing at sharkhead today for fear of their career and also to protect their family and homes etc.

Craig Armstrong

If they haven't made any reference to offside at the time, they are screwed. At the moment it certainly looks like they made a mistake and then tried to find a reason to cover for it. We should also be asking how often after a yellow card you have to wait for a 2nd yellow. That's an issue needing to be questioned too.

Craig Armstrong

Then we have all the ammunition we need to go after them as it would look like they are covering up what happened today. We need to shout from the rooftops about that.

Grant Watson

I agree that the optics would be terrible, but it hasn’t stopped the SFA or SPFL before. Remember Celtic were found to be in the wrong by not providing an away allocation. The optics of doing nothing stank…didn’t stop the SPFL

Simon William smith

That decision was not only shocking but stems directly from the narrative that has been plastered all over the MSM for the past month. There are so many questions regarding that particular decision and the thought process involved. It says a lot when NL is stating if it was offside then why give a goal kick (another wrong decision). It was a spectacle to sell the Scottish game but even to the neutral it looked like blatant cheating.

Jordan McKay

A fair point - refereeing integrity is a separate issue though. UEFA, FIFA can be called in here. Sky also don’t really care about the fans but the integrity of the games they’re putting on is super important for their brand.

Allister Cooke

Gollum does not have the usual referees excuse of “made a mistake”, or “didn’t see it” in this instance. As the VAR referee he could see clearly it was a penalty for handball, yet denied the award to Rangers. Rangers must call him out for what he is. A CHEAT.

George Higgins

Celtic got a ref sacked and a strike by officials for less

Grant Watson

Also a fair point. I’m dubious that they would want to be seen to be doing so. Don’t get me wrong, I hope as much as anyone that the audio is released. The on field decision would indicate that the new line being given, that it wasn’t a penalty because it was offside, is bogus. Seeing as the game restarted with a goal kick

Derek Stevenson

Agree fully Angus, I do like and feel Clement is the no nonsense figure head to start calling out the on field shite we suffer. However, I feel the Club do need someone to be bolder and intrepid on all fronts. Been a long time since we had that. Too long.

Alan Shaw

Unfortunately it will fall on deaf ears as per usual. But we do need to call out these incidents. Its not like the other lot haven't done their fare share of complaining

Andrew Hunter

What is it we're looking for here by requesting the audio? Unlike the Spurs v Liverpool game, the correct decision was ultimately reached here albeit using a highly flawed process.

Brian Rae

I hope they ask for the time stamp on the recording as well. We should also be asking for an explanation on how they finished the game with 11 players. At least 2 of them should've received 2nd yellows. It's time for foreign refs as ours are either corrupt or afraid for their windows.

Stephen

The worse thing is that all these bad decisions against us in recent old firm games still won’t put the conspiracy theories to bed. The usual ones will still be coming out with their nonsense regardless of what happens. The board needs to be strong.

James Beaton

that decision could cost us the league, its worth 60 million next year to get entry to the champions league, rangers cant let this go ,as corrupt officials could cost rangers millions ,no business would let people cheat them out of 60 million ,they must go after the corrupt refs who are terrified of celtic and their media poodles

Graham Roy

Funny how many tims don’t want the audio released!

Jimmy Price

Because they cheated! It’s not rocket science.

William Ross

Pleased rangers did this. Now expect days / weeks of stonewalling /mocking / insincerity from the sfa to prevent rangers hearing the audio. They will be assisted by celtics hyenas in the media (even though it goes against the main agenda of tabloid newspapers). We know decades of overt and covert influence and intimidation by celtic club officials, celtic fans and their friends (morons and shit stirrers) in the media has corrupted the officiating on the field and the pressure has now successfully extended to var - this tape, if it is as we suspect it is would undeniably prove this.

Steven Carmichael

That offside was not discussed by VAR for initial decision. It looks very like Collum has retrospectively introduced it after the Sky cameras showed a clear handball. It took VAR 40 mins to come up with 'offside'. If it was originally an offiside, why give a goal kick? Useless, or worse - Collum covering his arse.

maccalsa

Issues I had with the game more than the "penalty" (which is an isolated incident in the game) 1. Exactly how many fouls does a celtic player have to do after they have been booked before they are shown a second 2. Exactly how many times does Cantwell get a pass in big games? I swear to god, he was absolutely useless and thinks he is a better player than he is. 3. Tavenier was unable to defend. Reasons to be positive 1. Sterling and McCausland were brilliant. Sterling was my MOM 2. Dessers appears to be OK. Yes, I know he messed up his chance, but he won it on his own.... be isn't as crap as we feared. (Better than rubbish) but not a big game player 3. Great keeper, solid and dependable as always 4. Thought Ridvan was devent... Sima really dsiappointed me and I rate him Other than that, I think everyone else was awful

Craig

If there is nothing to hide then release it??? It stops all the noise and we can all have complete and utter faith in them again.

Graham Jones

The club have to act on this, and stick with it until they get some satisfaction. We need answers to why they didn’t act at the time. It makes no difference if the right conclusion was arrived at or not, because what it looks like is that they didn’t act at all. Had they looked at it, then they would’ve said at the time, not forty minutes later. Makes everyone wonder what else they have let go. It just raises our suspicions about the referees more than they were already, and at the very least, proves they aren’t fit for purpose. We’ve never had greta referees up here, we know that, but I can’t remember the standard being at such a low. What it screams out to me is that there needs to root and branch changes across the whole of the game or it will be at risk of failure. We have idiots in charge of the game, and have had for over a decade now.

Steven Carmichael

Misapplication of VAR, which is a tool that should stamp out this kind of frikken nonsense. Excusing Collum and Co by calling them useless and apologising isnt good enough. Turn the screw, nothing less will do for me on this one, Mr Rangers.

Thomas

Who was that guy celric got sacked in 2010 for covering up a fuck up. This us no different

Craig Mitchell

Due and correct process didn't appear to be followed. Sharing of the audio will prove if it was (or wasn't) and then we'll see where we are.

Doogz

This has to end Collum as an official, questions need to be asked of Walsh and allowing persistent fouling and failure to issue clear yellow cards until a late flurry at the death when they have no bearing on the game.

Colin Carstairs

So If say the Sfa / spfl don’t release the audio can sky ? If they are (sky) pissed at the officials then surely a leak from their end can put it in the public domain as a ‘get it up you’

Stuart McNiven

Ironically, they made the correct decision at the time. They got him sacked for the right call.

Jim Milne

Maybe if our club started calling them out during the AGM, players and explayers call it out and start putting them under more pressure we might get somewhere. We have managers in this league openly calling refs cheats by giving "penalty to Rangers" and SFA do Sweet Fuck All. Not a chance we get anything from the SFA or a spotlight on this incident the way we would have if Tav punches the ball out. Remember the furore when Goldson blocked his face. It's blatant cheating.

David Kiltie

Surely at the VAR check the officials should have taken sufficient time to address all possible ramifications? If there was an offside then that would settle the issue so no penalty- we could accept that. Making such a decision so hastily then producing a get out of jail card half an hour later looks very suspicious.

maccalsa

Sadly, it still was an offside, right? Or is my TV broken. Is anyone else other than me angry that we bottled it and barely made their keeper make a save?

Jordan McKay

I would say the Premier League and Bundesliga would have a serious problem if Sky did that.

Douglas Innes

I remember a referee getting a decsion correct even though the way he went about getting to that right decsion was all wrong , it caused a referees strike and ultimately his part time job as a referee ..... how do any team trust Collum going forward not just Rangers

Johnnie Mitchell

So did you think it was offside at the time of the incident and tv highlighted this? Everyone else’s tv’s must been broken because we weren’t made aware of the offside decision until well into the second half. 67 mins someone has mentioned. Something stinks about the whole refereeing performances today irrespective of how we played.

TamGer4

11 vs 13 again

Brian Moore

One failing of the board, in my eyes is, they don’t publicly stand up for the club to all this nonsense.

Colin Carstairs

Our league is a tad different & we are beholden to sky… if you’ve pissed them of then they will no comeback if they do release it. Officials have made a horrendous error but as always it’s the cover up that makes it worse. This could be cleared up by 10pm tonight if they wish but they won’t.

Tom Smith

Has anyone actually seen the offside? Good on rangers chasing this up, and showing the corruption and cover up that's on show here... I'm bit holding my breath on transparency from the powers at be... sweep.sweep nothing to see here..

maccalsa

Yes, it was on the telly, around 40 mins after it was a bone of contention

Rona Bluebell

Bloody hell, this isn’t looking good

Adam Williamson

This travesty should be mentioned non-stop by the club for the rest of the season. An absolute disgrace.

Declan MacDonald

Collum should be hounded just as much as Dougie McDonald was after that tannadice shitshow. He should be forced out and made to retire

Simon Botterill

At the end of the day we know the officiating is at best poor and at worst corrupt (Clancy and Collum are cheats, all walks of life/business have it, it's obvious and what would expect from semi professional refs of such bias) but we know this before most matches and I have faith in Clement, he is already much more proactive with his on pitch management and we are slowly seeing an improvement in this area on the pitch but we need quality recruitment whilst the club need to go on their journey to clean up the embarrassment that is Scottish football governance.

maccalsa

I called dessers better than rubbish. Celtic had a field day against our right side. That's tavs' side tight!? Wow indeed

Scott Sinclair

Time for the VAR officials to be removed from office. This is corruption

Craig

I said to my boy that I would love to watch a game happily in the knowledge the best team won - Kyogos goal is the sort that you say ‘fair enough, it’s a good strike to beat super Jack’ But, again, I’m left perplexed with the decisions (numerous) made by all the officials. I’m sick of watching a simple game, made difficult and unfair to benefit one club. An embarrassment of a club at that - you could see what it meant to them to get that first goal - tramps trampling each other. A decent striker x2 and a few other tweaks and we will have them this season. I can’t be the only one longing for a fair game in this fixture. I said on FF that there’s an argument to be made that I’d rather be in our position than theirs; LC, manager the fans love, Europa League and we can only get better. We’ve lost/been cheated twice to them and have the potential to only be two points behind. Happy New year when it comes to everyone on here - from the highest highs, to the many lows - this community keeps me sane and it’s not unlike an AA/NA/CA meeting where we can share with likeminded friends who understand. I love it - I’m CL and I’m a Rangers fan/addict. Good health to you all for 2024 👌

David McCulloch

A fuckin disgrace.. any offside player a the state of play didn't touch the ball, the defensive player influenced the game by putting the ball out of play. The ref missed it, var checked it and still fuckin clueless it's the worst decision in any football match that's ever been played. Name a worse decision? Anyone? Maradona 86? It's that bad

Angus Mackay

I don’t know about anyone else, but honestly I’ve never been anything like this angry about officiating in a game. Normally I get over s as nothing like that quite quickly, but not this. Not at all.

David McCallum

Rangers have to keep the pressure on here. Today was as clear a borderline bent ref as I've seen in 35 years watching Rangers

C. J

Cheating bastards, to be quite honest

Ally Mair

Quite simply their cheating bastards , and they are allowed to be , that McFadden is one of their puppets can’t stand the wee bald twat “ it was offside so that’s the end of it “ total prick

Gregg

Should be a watershed moment - just share the audio as standard practice. It’ll actually educate fans and pundits alike and might make the refs more personable. That said - I can’t get my head round why they didn’t have at least one red card. Fairly upbeat still - we lacked a bit of quality and hopefully a signing or two and some players back we can really kick on. Rock solid belief in this manager

Conor Brown

McFadden is every bit the cunt that the failed trialist is. He mumbles on as if he actually knows something about winning, He won nothing in his career, he won 31% of the games in his career, a manager would be sacked for that. He reminds me of the kid at school who took the piss out of your new stuff, while wearing charity shop gear that his older brother wore. A snotty, wee, jealous, bankrupt loser, I wonder what annoys him more, seething with hatred watching us win, or watching guys like the current scum captain win, wishing it was him.

Gary Shaw

Unpopular opinion but the penalty incident apart, which would not have been awarded in the end up,that game is just par for the course reffing in OF games….I remember Bougherra giving so many fouls away after already being booked and having the audacity to wink,Papac and Weir giving stonewall pens away at Ibrox that the ref shat out of and even our very own Kevin Thomson taking a dive when on a yellow then faking injury,Broadfoot taking the most ridiculous dive at Parkhead and getting a penalty yet our same fans cry into a pillow when he does it against us and gets pens or got Morelos sent off….it goes in circles and it’ll turn our way again.

Adam Williamson

Turns out VAR couldn’t have been used for offside on that occasion. It can only be used retrospectively after a goal. In other words, there is no offside excuse. It was a penalty, second yellow and a red card. Simple as that.

Adam Williamson

It wasn’t the correct decision as VAR cannot check offside unless it’s after a goal. It was a penalty.

Craig McCrimmon

Very frustrating indeed, 2 games against them & 2 blatantly corrupt decisions. I have spent years saying a good team beats a bad ref & it's largely true but when VAR finds a foul that wasn't to scratch out a perfectly good goal then ignores a blatant handball it flags up one of two things. The refs are bent or afraid given the pressure they are placed under.

Heart and Hand

Pretty telling that the examples you give are over a decade old. If you’re happy getting rogered quietly, lube up. But don’t be upset at other fans who want refereed correctly.

Gary Shaw

David that’s what happens when you’re the dominant team out the 2….Morelos got away with booting and flicking opponents balls in the Dec 2018 game so let’s not kid on we get absolutely nothing and they get everything

Gary Shaw

And don’t you be upset for guys like me having an opinion and stay quiet if you don’t like it.

Heart and Hand

Don’t huff Gary just because some of us actually want to do something about being cheated rather than just agree to continually take it.

Gary Shaw

Huff????🤣🤣🤣🤣….there’s literally over a hundred posts on this thread moaning about decisions…I’m being honest and real because I know there will be a game in the near future when it will all go our way and it’ll be that mob that are crying about it…

Bixby Snyder

Here here. If he didn’t score that goal against France, he wouldn’t be around today.

Tom Smith

The club need answers, and not back down. We all know the sfa will protect their refs, so I'm not hopeful. They have to be transparent for the good of the game, and if people lose jobs then so be it. This has went on too long. . I don't normally groan online about results and refs, but I can't allow this to go on anymore..

Tom Smith

This is all a by product of celtic minded media, pundits, people, putting pressure on refs before tue game, about penalties to rangers. The sfa didn't come out and back their refs for that, as it would be seen as anti celtic, but they will come.out and back their officials over this disaster and cheating display at the weekend. Total hypocrisy and heads should roll.
