Grant is joined by Andys' Barnett and Mcgowan as the boys discuss the Rangers careers of two of the most decorated modern Rangers players in Ian Durrant and Ian Ferguson. Amongst the topics for discussion on the show are how both players were able to adapt their games to stay effective, how both were missed during their long spells out injured and how both were wanted by Dick Advocaat as he rebuilt his Rangers side.

Great listen gents well done

Alan Stewart

Ya dancer. Really looking forward to listening to this. 2 of my favourite ever Rangers. Thanks guys 🔴⚪️🔵

Jim Milne

Thoroughly enjoyed this. My earliest Rangers memory is Durrant scoring against them with the reverse pass from Cooper. Very correct in saying that Fergie doesn't get the adulation his play deserves. What I'd give to have them in our current team.

Craig Fryatt

Another well researched show Grant And once again McGown is money

I seen Ian Durrants first appearance v Celtic.he came on as a sub at parkhead and came really close to scoring a winner for Nine man Rangers.cooper and Dawson were sent off and ally had scored a pen to make it 1-1

Martin Boyd

Two wonderful Rangers players. I’m over 60 years old and have seen a few midfielders over the years . I might well be shot down for this but Durrant was as good as Bellingham was when at Dortmund , similar players and styles. Who knows how high he would have gone.

Martin Boyd

Met him after the game with the most of the rest of the squad at the hotel across from Ibrox . He was so skinny 😂

Gregg

Really enjoyed this - durrant was my favourite player when I was a kid. He was perpetual motion and underrated in the dirty side of the game. Sure Gascogne said before a Scotland England u21 match he thought he was the cock of the walk, the best young midfielder in Britain. Then he played against durrant

Just listened to the Ian Ferguson bit so far - interesting discussion about inclusion in best elevens… I don’t think Ian Ferguson is in the running for a best ever player type of selection, but if you are putting a team together to actually play a match then Ferguson in his prime is certainly in there to provide the tenacity and bit of skill to turn a game. His form at the start of 93/94 season would be the example of that - he was fantastic over that season, especially the first half of it.

David Baillie

Great show guys. I was at Pittodrie on that fateful day but I can’t remember if Simpson was sent off. I can remember the photos in the papers the next day with Durrant’s leg bent all the way back and will never forget the look of hatred on Simpson’s face as he made the assault. Shocking.

David Baillie

Shocking. When you consider the Duncan Ferguson conviction, Butcher, Woods and Roberts being dragged through the court it’s certainly true that we are judged to a different standard.

Oh how I miss those days! What a team we had. Loved the Walter line up for the 9 in a row game as well. Moore and Ferguson in the engine room: perfect for a battle! Durrant just in front. Perfect for that game!

Paul Dunnachie

Well worth younger Bears tracking down the Ian Ferguson video/DVD on YouTube - True Blue(?) to see just how good he was early in his career at Clyde and then St Mirren even before Rangers. A proper attacking midfielder, full of skills and an eye for goal but would equally never shirk the hard work & the running to cover his position.

Thanks for the latest episode of Journey to Fame Grant, good show and a great episode with top input from the Andys - thanks lads, always like your views. Fergie. Top, top player. What folk need to remember is he moved positions & adapted because he COULD and was better than who else was available. He was Gazza before Gazza. Steven & McCall after they were. Wilkins the same. He endured because of the quality he was. Durrant. Awesome. If only! Other than injury his only barrier of going to the VERY top of the world game was the potential for ladish behaviour. Simpson was an utter c@^t, it was deliberate. Neanderthal Jockanese football mindset & attitudes which still exist to this day. Durrant wasn't robbed of his Rangers career, had a very long & highly successful one. Lived the dream. Iconic status. He WAS robbed of a chance at iconic status in European & world football. The game is all about levels. Durrant showed he was at the top level, for a long time. Those who saw him play pre injury knew he had the potential to go even higher. Durrant would never have been given the opportunity in Advocaat's squad to shine like he did at Killie. Just look at the famous quotes from Mr Struth. Both Ferguson & Durrant absolutely embody what it means to be a Ranger.
