James Mcgill

Celtic captain openly admitted in a TV interview after a champion league game that they are refereed to a different standard in Scotland. Says it all really

Rod

celtic statement imminent re Balogun spitting allegation supposedly.

Tamus

First team players were consulted Jesus wept, they're here for about 5 years, folk have been in their seats in the CF centre from 1986/7 _ my mate and his 3 grown up kids sit there and they are gutted

Charlie Nicolson

I can't believe you said that Rangers fans argue among ourselves 😉

David_Davy_Dave

Bobby Madden has been clear on Twitter it is whoever was overseeing VAR that releases the graphic to Sky I can’t see that this whole debacle sits as Collum’s responsibility

David Smart

So we’ve went from a front row seat in the Copland rear to a couple of rows back? Even though my granda has had that seat for nearly 40 years and myself and my mum 20? That stinks just to accommodate a singing section? Why should we give up our unrestricted view of the pitch?

Allister

I agree that rangers are within their right to ask for Collum not to be involved in our games but really he should be removed entirely. It would create the bitterest version of Collum out there refereeing their games.

Billy Forrester

Why couldn’t we splash on a big money striker this window? Surely if we can do it next summer then surely we can bring that forward 6 months and do it now, just less a big spend come summer, we must have resources to fund it via loans, cash in bank, directors etc in the knowledge we have cash incoming from Europa run and cup win etc etc, it’s surely possible as if we are serious about winning the league we need to buy quality and not be shopping in Poundland

Stillsaw

Hope the wee man had a great day 🫡 if he sat south lower then the badge was a Europa group stage badge from ff. watp

Heart and Hand

I’m afraid you don’t have a choice. As I said, it happened to me and my dad in 96. If they tell you you’re moving, that’s it unfortunately.

William Acheson

The new section in the Copland rear is about so much more than accommodation of the singing section. It's shit for you that you won't be front row seats anymore, but the club cannot stifle progress out of fear of annoying some fans over their seats.

Mo Young

Great update as usual , The Clash version though surely?🤣

Latimer

Collum is culpable for not calling Walsh to review the decision. It's as clear a handball as you'll see.

Russ

We bang on about raising capacity at Ibrox, the easiest and cheapest is rail seating surely? Work towards installing it in the whole of the Copland lower and towards 1:1.5 (2 infront 1 behind/1 infront and 2 behind) and you'd get an extra 2k+ fans in during domestic games. Unless my maths is wrong.

David Smart

I get that it’s about the disabled access but the majority of it is because of the singing section. It’d be a lot easier to stomach if it was about the disabled access than the singing section. What makes ibrox and intimidating place to play is not because of a singing section it’s when the whole crowd is up because like has been said on this network before singing sections or ultras just have a constant drone of noise that’s not what makes the atmosphere great. The atmosphere is great when it ebbs and flows with the game

David Smart

Well they have you because they know the tickets won’t be given up, so there’ll be complaining for a while and it’ll just go away.

chris smith

It works in the SFA’s and therefore Celtic’s favour that the referees are generally understood to be poor verging on incompetent as incompetency acts as a perfect cover for far more nefarious acts … you have to understand that Celtic’s strategic game is to promote chaos, poverty and a perceived lack of professionalism in the Scottish game as it keeps the rest down while Celtic get to retain their massive financial advantage

Brett

Do you think the moving of the singing section will have a bearing on OF allocations? Now that the singing section is moving out the BR there isn’t an issue giving them back the old allocation.

David_Davy_Dave

Agreed but the effort to distract by sharing the “offside” VAR graphic can’t just have been him

Gregg

Slight issue in that we have 47,000 or so season tickets. So 4,500 of them wouldn’t be able to go to the old firm - give or take. It’s a non starter

Matt Halsall

That’s us Greg. He adores that badge. keep checking on it on the drive back to Swindon. Hangs in his room with pride

Craig millar

Full time refs absolutely David, I've said the same for ages. Unacceptable that after a game like the OF on a Monday referees are going back to the high school, law office, or IT help desk. They should be in Hampden Monday morning, reviewing decisions, improving VAR Comms and processes, training, and generally getting better at the job of refereeing. Pay them appropriately (as some of them are in pretty darn good day jobs), and let's move the game forward

Paul Kerr

Moving the singing section is a good idea totally agree re the giant flags during play. My main request would be that the drummer gets himself up to band practice for a few wks to learn how to.play the bloody thing... 😏

Rose Mcloughlin

At last someone agrees with me...they are having their own wee party..mostly we dont have a clue what they are singing...european nights atmosphere proves that..the crowd makes the right atmosphere..so play or sing what we know and we might join in.

adam houston

The thing is a think the club will just sit back and take this

Angus Mackay

You’re spot on, Davie. The fact that they won’t release the audio even after Rangers have heard it is very damning indeed. The club cannot let this go, they are bang to rights.

Latimer

SFA response in the Sun. Nothing to see here as expected. Corrupt bastards.

Gregg

I sit above them in the club deck and I’ll miss the crazy bastards!!! You get to know the songs to be fair - I found a love and fell for it fast 😘

Graham Jones

You asked Andy McGowan for his Bob McPhail badge??? Fuckin’hell!!! There’s a line in the sand on these sort of things. You’re right about the SFA. They simply want to keep things going the way they are, because they think it isn’t broken. The game in Scotland has been in terminal decline for years. No original thinking and no ambition among those trying to hold onto a job they’re not fit to do anymore. If people wont move aside for more competent people, then they need to be pushed out, inch by inch if necessary. The game has become stale because of them. The club also cant stop on this with the referees, or it will never change.

Kris

Report Scotland & BBC Scotland are both still reporting the Collum situation as Rangers claiming that it should have been a penalty. No mention of the lies told to Sky and the public by Collum or another from the VAR room.

Michael Adamson

Is the desire not to have full time referees only financial, or is there another agenda in play? If refs were full time, we would need to give a good enough salary to attract our best (ahem) refs from their day jobs, but this wage would possibly attract applications from outside Scotland, requiring a transparent hiring process to get the best refs from the applications, that being the case, the SFA could lose the control of their refs like they have of the current crop.

Graeme Brown

There’s no way everyone is happy when a a change is made, but I don’t think it’s fair on the people who are being moved to accommodate the UB’s. Those seats will have been in some families for generations, and the club prides itself on legacy and tradition. IMO 91% of the people who responded positively will be happy that it doesn’t affect them in the main. It’s be interesting to see the feedback from people already sitting in CF3 and CF4. If the club really wanted to make the them visible - on TV as well as in the ground - they’d move the singing section to either side of the halfway line in SJF.

Russ

I'm sorry if people don't like this but at the end of the day our team (attackers) shat it at Parkhead which, whether we'll admit to it or not, has fuelled the fire and ire of our support and board regarding the handball 'decision'. Was it a handball? Yes. Should it have been a penalty on review? No, Sima's offside albeit marginally so it wouldn't have counted. Pile ons on referee's is Tim behaviour tbh - I don't rate Collum at all btw but he got a decision wrong which in the end wasn't detrimental in hindsight. I'd be more concerned with the on field refs performance than one non starter of a decision from the VAR room.

Russ

Which is how you get crowds with an average age of 45 and no young people at the game. I'm all for Legacy and Tradition but being a regular match goer to Ibrox shouldn't be like being part of a gated community, which imo it is. MyGers exacerbates this. Appreciate that I'm saying this as a fan who travels up from England once or twice a month as a non season ticket holder.

David Innes

We should have mentioned the 2 x non 2nd yellow incidents in our original statement and we also need to talk publicly about Celtic’s media campaign to intimidate refs

David Smart

No one has said that our performance shouldn’t have been better and we should’ve taken our chances. The 2 second yellows and the penalty decision worked out right at the end but it was a cover up because he decided it wasn’t a penalty then half an hour later when he seen the controversy looked backed and seen sima was offside. It’s not the fact he made a wrong decision it’s the fact he then seen the reaction worked back to cover his arse from shitting the penalty decision even tho sima woulda been offside. Pile on refs is Tim behaviour is a lot of shite both things can be true we should’ve been better on the day along with the referee got major decisions wrong. If they go down to 10 or 9 men does balogun get sent off? These things have a major impact on the game and I’m glad the club and the manager isn’t letting it go.

Russ

Aye I agree mate, the grievance with the Collum decision isn't the one to go to task on.

Martin Davies

You can't stop progress. Losing the front row is not down to the singing section but the addition of the cantilevered extension to the Copland Rear. This gets more bears into Ibrox on matchday so can only be a positive.

Graeme Brown

Respectfully, it seems as though you’re making a slightly different point by suggesting that season tickets are an issue. I think that allowing the support to evolve in a way that lowers its average age is a bigger discussion. I admit I’m looking at the singing section from a very self serving point of view, but I don’t think it’s fair to move the fans who are being affected by this without giving their opinion more weight in this discussion.

G Calder

Interesting the players & manager was asked regards the move of singing section - and they felt it made a positive difference to them . As its 100% agreed the fans make a huge difference to the team - Id love to find out the players thoughts on fans trooping out at 70 mins onwards ? Its got to be disheartening ? Stay for 90 🇬🇧

Lewis Wardrope

Obviously a lot to unpack around the SFA statement, and how disappointing/frustrating it is. But, to add a little bit of positivity to the comments, why a tremendous daily tale! That’s what the Rangers support is really about!

Gary Brown

The 'ultras' are the epitome of a gated community within the support. Constanty promoting themselves, and their kind (ie other ultras, of other teams!) as having a different culture. Just saying!

Gary Brown

Thanks for the update David. Plenty going on! A lovely daily tale too. Shame on you for trying to blag Andy's badge though😉 Refs, VAR & the SFA - Club have had their say, made their statement. SFA have since countered with their own somewhat at odds and not as 'agreed' as the club announced. And that'll be the end of that! Move along. Sweep-sweep. NFA. Club farting against thunder but they already knew that. So. A sweetner to deflect from it? Singing section! That will make 91% of fans happy. Quid Pro Quo! As for the singing section there is, potentially, many pros to outweigh the cons, the benefit of many at the expense of the few. However the ones leading the singing need a songbook more about Rangers and our players than the constant barrage of guff about the IRA, Celtic, themselves, Celtic, Bobby Sands, Celtic, UVF & Celtic! Hey they've shown they can do it. The SJB song caught like wildfire and in less than a week everyone was singing it. They've done plenty of great, short, quick & catchy songs before. Songs that fans can learn and join in practically instantly. The three verse ballads only they know the words to - not so much! All the anti that mhob & their stuff is (a) not supporting our team & our stuff and (b) proven never to have got the rest of the support joining in. Been given a tremendous opportunity, not to mention increased visibility, screentime, notoriety (& no doubt kudos amongst their counterparts!). Lets hope they can do something for the benefit of team, players, fellow fans & club with it! Constant singing is contrived and not organic but that's where they have adapt and be more organic to the match events, supporting our players / team with songs and be anti the other team (the team being played!) & its players during the on field incidents.

Chris McFadyen

As a way of protest about lack of action from the Governing bodies could we as a club stage some sort of on field action When we play Dumbarton, could we Cover the competition badge on the sleeve, could we sit down on the pitch for 5mins before kick off Could we do something to show our distain without actually bringing the game into disrepute, but maybe bring the eyes of the greater football world onto what is going on with the corruption at the top level of Scottish football Hopefully we go all the way and win the Scottish cup, if we do, should we refuse to collect the trophy?
