Dessers' goal was a cracker! Only thing that was strange about it was that it was Dessers and even then that opinion of him is coming under pressure. Big man is doing much better than any of us ever expected. Still not saying he's a great player by an stretch but he has a very commendable attitude which makes me have real respect for the guy.

Ian what do you think of Baccus for St Mirren? Heard a few suggest he's better at intl level than domestic, I'm not entirely sure what that reflects tbh. Would you let Jack go this summer and sign him this month on a pre contract or would that be a step down in quality, albeit a step up in availability? If Clement is serious on 90% availability like he says then I can't see how he continues with Jacko, as much as I rate him. Cheers.

Absolutely spot on about Cantwell. Can't understand where the criticism is coming from. He's quiet in games because of system just like Butland is quiet against dross until he has to perform.

I cannot see the board sanctioning another contract for Jack. As for Baccus, is now a first pick for Oz, I'll think the lad is capable of a bigger level than St M. He will defo leave them in the summer

He never hides and works like fuck. Seems to have developed into a whipping boy for some reason. Plus he's a nasty wee bastard, which I love

Anyone having issues opening the daily update 26th?

Love the preview pod , I heard Alex talk about the decision in the st Johnstone / Aberdeen game so watched the highlights why did miovski not get booked for leaving the field when he scored the penalty are you allowed to do this now .

Graeme Homer

McAusland did get an assist btw, bit harsh saying he was ineffective. Other than that a nice positive listen.

Scott Watson

Thank you very much gentlemen, typically excellent pod I've loved the question themes on the last couple of shows, if only Strider had taken the open goal with The Rock it'd have been a glorious hat-trick

Craig Fryatt

Good show lads although I am missing Harrington’s contribution and views Pretty sure Templeton was our last signing to ‘go to the wire’

Criticism comes from people’s preference on players style and character linked to times when he has seemed more about himself than the team. It’s fair to say Cantwell has indeed got talent and when in his game he’s effective but it’s equally fair to say that for periods he hasn’t delivered on his promise. The pivotal few games were him being asked to move about for the team, a bit of petulance or frustration coming off and clearly Clement tuning him in and challenging him to be the guy he thinks he is. Cantwell is decent but like the majority of our team nobody is worth bursting the bank for or essential, we have flawed players simply as we are in that market at our place in the football fold chain. Ridvan certainly has seemed to hit form, my own view was he hadn’t settled and wanted away but I take the point that him learning the language, change of regime and now a positive run in the team might have changed all that. If he wants to stay I would definitely keep him as he is exactly the type of guy that fits the managers team. I would pay the money for Shankland, tired and tested in the league and the criticism of him is speculation about about what he can’t do as opposed to focus on what he consistently does. If we aren’t looking at him and actively trying to sign him now it’s a real concern, constantly taking punts on if we can get them right or unknown risks. Nothing to say Shankland couldn’t continue in the same scoring vein for the next few season and to be honest we are long overdue a proper Scottish poacher up front. Enjoyed the pod and discussion appreciate everyone has their favourites but for me the best going about the team right now is that despite no real stars the unit is looking much better than it has for a long time. To me that the strength and while I get fans will like one guy more than another I think. The idea that bar Butland any are irreplaceable just doesn’t add up, we could sell anyone and be confident Clement could make it work to a decent level. Only my own view and enjoyed the podders takes.
